I love these Soundpaint libraries... Not only do they sound fantastic, but they are also budget-friendly. Hence why Soundpaint is slowly becoming my favourite sample library vendor 💙 Thanks guys, carry on the great work!
I've got to say, these videos are incredible (along with the samples!!). Not only is it presented well, but the history is also fascinating. Thank you!
Sounds fabulous! I will buy a few of the instruments in the future. If a virtual soundstage aspect could be added to sound paint that would make it extra powerful!
This is really great. I'm only worried about the interface not having the ability to load more than 4 mic positions and also not having keyswitches. For example, in this case if I wanted to load the legato, shorts and marcatos with 3 mic positions, I would technically need 9 slots, which aren't available. Also would need to morph between the sounds right? I find this a big weakness of soundpaint right now. Are there any updates to soundpaint in the works that will add keyswitches and a mic mixer perhaps?
I have one question for you, Trœls. Will this and the other already released alto flute and clarinet be part of any upcoming orchestral woodwind package?
@@Soundpaintmusic Like the 8Dio Century Orchestral Libraries? Woodwinds were never released, part from the Ostinato parts. But it's obvious now that we will be able to create full woodwind sections with these separate Soundpaint instruments in a much more flexible way which is nice, once the rest has been released. I'm just a bit stuck in the old "Century" way of thinking.
wonderful walkthrough with some very lovely mini-pieces! Sorry if you already answered this elsewhere, but do earlier instruments get the H.A.L technology too?
Thanks a lot Troels for another wonderful and expressive instrument... Just one little thing, please add flutter tongue to all the SP flutes, clarinet and saxes, that is an important and useful articulation and I am quite surprise that all the woods SP instruments don't have it yet ;-) At 20.25 by controlling the Speed parameter on this flute makes it sound like a Quena (traditional flute of the Andes) which was used by James Horner many times in his scores. When SP will allow to have key switches it will make me extremely happy :-) Keep up the wonderful work! Kind regards and many blessings, Max
Thanks Max. Good observations and most of them will happen. Keyswitches coming soon. The Rack > Time > Speed function is wickedly cool on vibrato and just like you we immediately thought about Horner when we tried it on the flute. Because the engine is modular - we keep finding these unique "accidents" and get surprised ourselves. Cheers, Troels.
@@Soundpaintmusic Dear Troels, thanks kindly for your reply! I am so happy to read that Keyswitches are coming soon :-) The Speed function that you greatly demonstrated on the Platinus Flute is amazing, in fact I have been looking for a Quena virtual instrument and now with this trick I can use the Platinus Flute and make it sounds very close to the Quena :-) Take care and be well, Max
Thank you guys. Wooow. Bought it and blown away. From the flute 😄 and the sound. Dont know how you can sample such in a great way. Cant wait for all what will come
Thank you Pat! There are many layers to this cake - beginning with casting the right players, organizing the sample sessions in ways that are conducive to capturing their personal expression, delicate editing and programming - and then all ultimately powered by our modular engine and HAL. Cheers, T.
@@Soundpaintmusic yes that's what I think . there is certainly more to do in the background than i can imagine. thanks for the information. your sounds just sound very deep, like you would actually play the instruments at that moment. they only sound a touch like a sample. I can't even imagine what else is to come from you.... but I'm still doing it with joy 😉
Good question. The answer is both yes and no. Platinus wasn't designed with that in mind - and portamento is pretty rare for flutes. Your best chance is to go into Rack > Legato > Legato Time and try to slow it down without creating too many artifacts. You can also try Rack > Time and slow down the vibrato, which is sometimes used for Portamento on flutes too. Cheers, T.
@@Soundpaintmusic Lovely - I guess it was more general feature request for Soundpaint for the instruments that DO have recorded portamento samples - it feels more natural to have soft playing trigger portamento, and hard playing triggering faster transitions, and not the other way around :)
Agreed - and once we get into our next-gen orchestral and conversion of deeper 8Dio libraries they will all have them. But we don't necessarily just wanna explore conventional layering methods, but also also using morphing technologies so one make the shifts more gradually - instead of either/or.

Wow, the flute and the clarinet together sound absolutely amazing!! Awesome work!!
Yeah - it is also liberating how quickly one can create unique ensembles this way.
Now we all waiting for polyphonic legato strings :)
In the works …
@@Soundpaintmusic wohoo!

Thanks Nick - very kind!
Amazing work! We can’t thank you enough for these wonderful instruments.
Our pleasure!
The vibrato speed control alone is enough for me to get this. Haven’t been too impressed with 8dio lately but this is very nice. Bravo!
OMG, so incredibly beautiful!! I already have plans for this library!!🥰
A pickle-O. 🤣
It sounds stunning (I purchased the other HAL powered flute and it's amazing). When will we get HAL powered strings or vocals? That would be epic!
Couldn’t agree more!
Lovely instrument and great walkthrough as always! The 2nd demo is an absolutely beautiful piece of music! Joe Hishaishi vibes 😍
Thank you very much!
LOOOOOVE the »Intro & History of the Flute« part.

Great demo Troels of a wondeful edition to SoundPaint👍 - looking forward to scoring with this - thank you...👌
Thanks Jim! Looking forward to hearing what you do with it. Cheers, T.
I bought Claire Flute from 8Dio, so now I have to buy it again?
When we do full conversions like this - we offer 50% cross grade to all previous owners of the Kontakt version. That would be $10 for the flute.
@@Soundpaintmusic just seen it, thank you, will watch the video on it and see, all the best.

The next major updates of Soundpaint will have both more Parts slots and keyswitches. So worry not.
Thanks for the reply. Looking forward to more stuff from you guys. ❤️

We will create a specific HAL category on the site soon. So far our HAL releases include Tenor Sax, soprano sax, alto flute, flute, clarinet.
Look at end-- classic.
