I always wished that the Snowfall DLC would've come with out as a more seasons expansion. It often feels unrealistic to just have bright green cities all the time and it'd be cool if you bought the pack that it had a year calendar built in so that you could see the trees change through the fall, and then snow fall in the winter and the trees come back to life in the summer. It could've been meshed in with the natural disasters DLC to allow for more unique experiences like in a tropical map you would have dry and wet seasons instead of all 4 seasons, or in a Boreal map it would have a longer winter season.
That would mean they would actually have to put effort into it and not just make a half ass cash grab and paradox would never let that happen in any of their games
To your point, just imagine if EVERY DLC could only be utilized on DLC specific maps. "Oooo I'm gonna spend 80 hrs building a new map so I can use a recycling plant now... Okay done now another 80 hrs into a new map so I can have a monorail."
I love how half the comments are only talking about the ad. And I don't blame them. On the surface just a standard ad read, but still hilarious. It doesn't try too hard, and is perfectly unskippable. Brilliant.
I wish, for all these city builders, they implemented natural disasters better than a SimCity game from like 1995. How about designing an evacuation plan? How about designing a crisis center? How about calling in and distributing foreign/federal aid? Deploying national guard? Hiring meterologist stations to predict situations? Flood Management, levees, dams, etc? Receiving refugees from other areas? There's just so MUCH more that they could be besides a "haha little man go squish" button that almost every single one does. There's an anime called Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 that I think portrays urban disaster REALLY well and also shows Japan's well formed response plan, even though there's only ever so much you can really do. Drought changing your natural resources, floods and tornados giving you a chance to re-work old parts of the city, areas dedicated to disaster relief in areas where it's expected, earthquakes or even, hell, nukes changing the landscape for the rest of your playthrough. Even the longterm effects should be accounted for and would make a more fun, dynamic game. I hate how 'static' 90% of city builders get after you actually built the foundation. Almost all change is simply boredom induced rather than gameplay induced.
If you have both After Dark and Snowfall, the Driving Range turns into the Icefishing Pond, and the Fantastic Fountain turns into the Frozen Fountain, but only if you're playing on a Winter themed map.
This is so difficult - so contentious in fact - which makes a great vid it has to be said. for example, on console Disasters is essential. I never use the disasters themselves but the fresh water outlet is a must.....
Yeah, I got disasters for the response helicopters, water trucks (for when landscaping near water goes wrong), and some of the other assets for aesthetics. I don't play with disasters, aside from fire spread.
Counterpoints/Clarifications: • Natural Disasters DLC have helicopters for fire, medical, and police. These aerial services can be handy when ground vehicles are overwhelmed (stuck in traffic, too many buildings asking for such service, etc.). Even without dealing with forest fires, fire helicopters can buy fire trucks valuable time by reducing the intensity of building fire, and thus delay their demise of being burnt down. Also, Vacuum Trucks are useful in cleaning the mess resulted from playing around the Landscaping Tools, or dam. • After Dark DLC: when near (more like almost touching) a water line (shoreline), water-themed buildings (beach gym, pools, etc.) will spawn more frequently. Also, Carbo Hub, very important transport building. • Campus DLC underappreciation might due being the third DLC using the concept of "Areas". Another factor might due to the presence of Hadron Collider (although the education effect is togglable). Biggest factor I think is being limited to high education. Had there been option to do the same for educated and well educated levels, it might be more attractive. For the meantime, elementary and high schools are still needed for Campus Areas to work properly. • Green Cities DLC: Local and Organic Produce, the only commercial specialization that can be zoned together with residential zones due to lack of noise. • Mass Transit: For some, the built-in underground metro stations of the train hubs is worth it. Or it could be simply because many confuse features that are part of the free update (road guides, junctions, etc.) as part of the DLC. • Even without using Industry Areas, the freight hubs in Industries DLC are very useful. A freighter version of Mass Transit DLC, so to speak.
Great video! I wouldn't put green cities at the top because I feel it is mostly an aesthetic pack rather than effecting gameplay in general but other than that I agree with your list. I'd definitely love a tier list of CCPs. Also the ad is just... brilliant! Your background tabs also gave me a good chuckle. You know we be looking there 👀
I pretty much agree with all of them. One thing I will add is that post offices seem to help my commercial areas more than the industrial or specific industry zones.
Great video, i don't completely agree but that's because i love Snowfall although i do agree that a more fleshed out fully Seasons DLC would have been better, perhaps coming with the ability to choose which seasons you want to actually occur within your city build. For instance summers for more northerly climates like Alaska or Norway are not exactly really hot and similarly the winter at the equator is non-existent so i personally like the idea of being able to set the seasons you want to occur within your builds.
Even if the seasons that occur are linked to the theme. Snow theme has mild summers and snowy winters, tropical theme has hot winters and wet summers, etc., and custom themes have custom seasons.
I think the idea is good, however paying for only one season(plus assets and everything) is kinda lame in my opinion... They should give you the other 2 together with the dlc
Didn't expected that ad and Bush spice, now that's what I call a perfect tagline 😂, but congrats egg on getting a new sponsor and today's Video was informative, definitely a helpful guide to choose better DLC.
Natural Disasters is a C for console and vanilla players JUST for the ability to use a disaster called "collapse" to destroy a graveyard / landfill, instead of waiting for it to be emptied. The other MAJOR issue I have with this rating system is that you failed to cover the maps that come with each of these. While rating them each can be their own tier thing, I'd put Sunset Harbor as a must have for the maps alone; They are the best that console / vanilla can get
Ok. That ad. How many takes? I refuse to believe you kept a straight face all the way through. And thanks for the embarrassment of having everyone staring at me on the train while cackling at it!

Must Buy : Industries , Parklife , Campus and Green Cities . A : Mass Transit . B : Subset Harbor . C : Snowfall and After Dark . D : Natural Disaster .
Great list. Industries and Parklife are my favorites. I would put Campus one lower because I find it a pain to try to build a campus up to 5 stars; plus, I wish I could build the campus of my choice instead of needing to start with the trade school. I would put Green Cities lower too, just because I think the residences are ugly imo.
Agree about Natural Disasters only being passable. But for console players the fresh water outlet is often the only way we can create water features/streams etc. So it has a lil extra value.
I would put mass transit easily in A if not S. Why? You try and build all your motorways without 2 lane, 4 lane, asymmetrical roads. The only reason but.....
Oh my god. Not expecting that at ad all. I took it back to the start of the ad, took my headphones out and played it to the other half. Both of us in stitches 😂😂
I bought into the DLC late in the game (within the last couple of years) and I mostly agree with your ranking. Granted I might flip disasters and snowfall, but that is because sometimes I just want to throw a fiery spaceball at my city and make a park in the crater. Park life and industries are easily the best expansions of the game or more aptly they change the way we all play the game the most. Anyway love the list, keep up the great work and AMAZING ad read. Great balance of keeping it funny and engaging.
In my opinion, Parklife is the best DLC. How did we manage to play this game without custom parks? The tiny rectangle parks in vanilla are fine, but real city parks are so much more and you can basically just do anything with Parklife. Not only did it introduce the painted area thing that was later used by industries and campus, I think Parklife did it the best. For example, campus still has parking spaces on pretty much every building which is kinda odd when you place them on footpaths. The only issue I have with Parklife is that they basically print money if you enable fees.
Farms producing an unrealistic amount of traffic is more down to all four areas being molded into the same format without having distinct characteristics, rather than it being "massively unbalanced" from the game mechanics perspective. The demand for crops is slightly higher than for other raw materials though because some unique factories require them. Intercity buses are a cool idea if they just worked properly. The buildings either generate too much bus traffic because dummy traffic routes through them (intercity station, intercity/metro hub), or get too few passengers because the asset is just somehow broken (intercity terminal). Intercity buses also break taxis, because tourists wait for them at incoming outside connections where they can't route to (hopefully this will be fixed).
I bought Green Cities because of the water filtration additions that help clean up waste water to perfection. Placing the Eco Water Treatment Plants helps a little, but place a few Floating Garbage Collectors around them and say good bye to brown rivers forever.
Great vid!! I would go MB: Plaza & Promnades, Industries, Green Cities A: Airports, Sunset Harbor, Park Life B: Campus C: Mass Transit, Snowfall, Natural Disasters
Personally, I have a very different relationships with the DLCs, but probably because my playstyle is very different from yours and I care much more about traffic management and expanding my city instead of building great looking cities with all the assets etc. After Dark: B-Tier: I do like the introduction of cycling and new bus infrastucture, but other than that, there is not really much great content. You just assign leisure or tourist specialisation to a commercial zone and that's it. Snowfall: Must buy! I can understand why so many people find this DLC underwhelming, but personally, I love the snow aesthetics. Also, I think that Snowfall maps are more challenging then normal maps, especially at the beginning of the game. I also like the new heating mechanics, as in real life, most energy consumed by households is not electricity, but heating. And of corse, TRAMS! Natural Disasters: C-Tier: I like to have the thread of possible disasters and to prepare my city. But to be honest, most of its mechanics are just moneysink: I often need to wait for hours just to get the cash to build shelters and firewatch towers. And the bigger shelters always screw up the traffic, so you are forced to use the smaller more inefficient shelters. Mass Transit: Must buy! Yes of course, blimps and ferries are obsolete, but its still nice to have them, especially if you are a transit nerd like me. Green CIties: Must buy! The new power plants and service buildings are great, and the new self-sufficient houses are just beautiful! But still, the organic commercial zones are a downside, as they run out of "dumb" workers once your cims are somewhat educated. Parklife: Passable! Yes, I know that I am in a minority here, but I get severe anger issues when I need to invest hours just to build a simple park because I have to place down every asset for itself. Sorry, but I'd rather spend my time building an entire new district instead of just one park. Industries: A-Tier: A great DLC with great assets which has also brought industrial specialisation from Sim City to Cities Skylines. Now, I would like to put it in the Must-buy-Tier, but the agonising need to place down so many storage buildings because you never have enough trucks to transport everything dumps it down by some extend. Campus: Passable! The same reason here as for Parklife, I don't want to waste my time just for one uni when I can just plop one down. But still, I would prefer Campus over Parklife, because building campus areas is less annoying than building park areas and I like the new sports arenas. Sunset Harbour: B-Tier: Although the introduction of trolleybusses and fishing industry is great, it still feels like this wasn't necessary: Trolleybusses are just fancier busses, helicopters are just fancier blimps and the fishing industry wasn't really needed as the Industries DLC already gave us so much great stuff. It feels like Paradox just wanted to cash in one last time from its five year old game by just releasing this DLC. But still, the new water treatment plants are awesome.
Even with your reasoning I think B tier would be fairer for mass transit, especially as monorail is so good and you can then have more transport variety in your city
After Dark is a good DLC, but for me it's a bit of a weird one though. On Playstation, it's free, but on PC, you have to actually pay for it! That surprised me when I upgraded to playing on PC. Also, PC has a (small) DLC that we never got on Playstation - Concerts. I mostly agree with your list, with the exception of Campus and Mass Transit. For me, Mass Transit is a must buy, mostly because I love playing around with trains and public transport systems, so I always need that DLC. I'd probably put Campus at a B tier. Maybe A tier. I do like Campus as a DLC, and I particularly love the Varsity Sports stadiums, but as someone who played on Playstation a lot (and was limited to only 9 tiles to build on), dedicating *that much* space to a university was pretty rough, and I always found myself trying to just cram everything onto a small island or something. I will admit that it is better on PC (with mods for more tiles) though.
i was struggling trying to pick my first dlc, this video was so helpful! i’m going for green cities 😊 if i wasn’t on console i’d be using your instant gaming code
for most part I agree with the tier list but as a former industry traffic planner I despice industries dlc traffic. It generate 2-3 trucks for everything that would use 1 in real life and it messes up road traffic flow immensly. For this reason I limit how much of it gets used and even prefer the vanilla game forrest/farm/ore/oil industries at times just to get away from it. I will give industries credit...it do look pretty but the traffic errors are a big nono for me. It is at best passable down there with natural disasters for me. The second deviation is mass transit, the combo stations and the added transit options...yes this include blimps...makes it very useful for manageing traffic. Blimps on hilly/mountainy/island maps for example are REALLY good as they ignore elevetion and water entirely. Downside to them is their people capacty and speed but hey real life blimps are used as limited goods/people transports in several areas allthough not common. It isn't a must buy though but a strong B/decent A depending on how you value them. For me snowfall is a strong C/weak B as it introduce things I really like and as a scandinavian being able to build winter cities makes me happy. Unlike overcharged egg I find a all 4 seasons dlc silly as most countries barely even see snow if at all but those that do is getting it closer to snowfall than what overcharged egg suggest. I will acknowledge the lack of colour in snowfall maps as critisism though.
I agree on your opinion of Snowfall. The relentless white is painful as well as boring. Changing seasons would have been a lot of fun. I'd also like to have more climate options. You talked on your live stream about perhaps doing a western USA desert build. It would be nice to have pack with desert, tropical rain forest, savanna, etc.
Thank you for this video. I was trying to decide what dlc to get and you really laid out the pros and cons of each one clearly. I've picked up Green Cities, Industries and Parklife to start with. Going to hopefully also get the Campus dlc at a later date.
Cities skylines is on sale on both xbox pc and steam. I’m torn on which one I should get. The Xbox PC has the base game plus seasons one and two for $25 but I don’t think it can be modded. I’m leaning towards the Xbox PC because it comes with 6 DLC & 3 content creators pack. I’ve never done more than open the game, but I’d like to give it a try. I just don’t want to sink a whole lot of money into it or just buy the only the BG and miss out on DLC that might make it more fun. What should I do?
Screw the Xbox sale bro, use Instant Gaming, its cheaper almost all of the time all year: www.instant-gaming.com/en/?igr=overchargedegg You can get a lot of DLC very cheaply and just chuck which ever ones you fancy trying out into your basket. Airports & Plazas has released after this video, they are also very fun!
Agree on 99% of the list, though I would put Natural Disaster on my Must Buy tier as well, because one of my favourites things happened after finishing a build, is to spam as many tornadoes, thunderstorms and tsunamis as possible. Seeing the destruction, and the rebuild that follows is just euphoric. A complete circle of creation, destruction, and re-creation.
I would put Natural Disasters higher just because it was the first dlc I bought and also extremely useful for vanilla since I play on console. But the biggest reason Natural Disasters is my favourite is because ever since I was a kid I had this obsession with disasters and I would always watching documentaries about along with videos about, especially storms and tornadoes and hurricanes and anything that the wind could throw at us. So, yeah. (Edit: Oh, did I mention helicopters? They're a must have for vanilla players especially console since they don't cause traffic.)
This is the exact pack I’m looking to get on Microsoft since it is $25 again. How do you feel about it now that you’ve had it for nine months? Do you feel like you missed out on not being able to mod?
@@user-pw6ol5ck1p I have refunded it in the end. I paid slightly more by buying through those sketchy online stores and paid only for DLC's I needed. Further I added some mods, which, I think, do add value. But haven't played a lot, though.
Mass transit is literally necessary for console players like me because traffic is a pain without mods and public transport definitely helps. I bought it alongside the content creator train station pack so I've got hubs that have thousands of citizens not using cars anymore. I used to play on PC so I would of just used mods to fix my traffic but on console public transport is necessary
I don’t know if your still looking at comments but where would you rank the two new dlc’s (I know we haven’t got the newest yet but we know what it’s about now). In my opinion the airport’s dlc is an A tier since I like what it does however most of it’s effects are late and not huge while the newest (which I don’t remember is the name) is S tier since it effects the game early and you can effect a large part of your cities (I’ll be using it around every school and transport hubs).
I've only played vanilla thus far and all I've wanted added was cycling and bus lanes. I'm surprised you didn't make that DLC must buy but I'll probably get that first anyway.
Kinda agree with Natural disasters ranking based on the type of player I am which is heavy mod asset pc designer but I love Natural Disasters just for when I want to take on the challenges. I have all DLC ..When I was a vanilla player the draw for me was those extra assets and any new radio stations really anything that gave me building variety.. The green cities parking asset a great addition for vanilla players but I found it to be just a visual addition as it’s never really used so all the parking lots look empty. My main bug near as a vanilla player was not having things like MoVe It Traffic Manager and parking lots and nothing got on my creative nerve was having marinas and ship docking ports, piers so far up from the the actual boats/ships how on earth do people step onto a ship/boat so far down (thank god for move it) So my ranking is almost exactly the same as yours however I’d put Snowfall dead last as I’ve never used a snowfall map the heating aspect can be annoying when you get demand for heating in a non snow fall map, but I’ll probably move this up higher when I get around to including the snow fall assets into my normal city builds.. Industries is number one.
I wish they went a little more 'wacky' with the natural disasters DLC... I miss having Kaiju and aliens attack my cities. Just have a toggle for people who don't want that sort of thing.
Hello long time follower of your UA-cam content. I have a question for you which i hope you will answer for me so thanks in advance :) I use CS maily for detailing only and custom designing my city. I dont play it for achievements or the economics/money. All the stuff or assets in my city is hand plopped, i dont do zoning, growable or district theming at all. So keeping that in mind and seeing there is a sale on for the DLCs atm, what DLCs would you recommend that i absolutely get and which i can pass over (given my need and style of playing)...i would really appreciate your opinion/insigh on this matter. Currently i only have Mass Transit and After Dark!
I think mass transit should be a tier. Bikes and busses suck in vanilla. A lot of workshop assets also require mass transit to work. I can see that a lot of what it brings is useless, but I think that it’s effect on busses, bikes, and its asset require ability makes it more than c tier.
As hotel and retreat dlc might be the last dlc Cities Skylines publishes before CS 2, please rank all the dlc (and mini dlc of course) and content creator pack, thank you

I love how he has two tabs open and one of them says "single eggs in my area."
I liked natural disasters only because I'd turn it off until I complete a city, then manually set off a bunch of disasters and watch it burn
I love the tab "single eggs in my area"
I love the other tabs he has at the top 😂
I love this format of video! And I totally agree with you.
Thank you ☺️
I bought Green Cities because of the water filtration additions that help clean up waste water to perfection. Placing the Eco Water Treatment Plants helps a little, but place a few Floating Garbage Collectors around them and say good bye to brown rivers forever.
Great vid!! I would go
MB: Plaza & Promnades, Industries, Green Cities
A: Airports, Sunset Harbor, Park Life
B: Campus
C: Mass Transit, Snowfall, Natural Disasters
I tabbed out at the start and came back in the middle of the sponsorship and uh....
well you got my attention.
Even with your reasoning I think B tier would be fairer for mass transit, especially as monorail is so good and you can then have more transport variety in your city
I absolutely love the other tabs open in your browser, made me laugh xD
That's the best manscaped ad I've ever seen on a youtube video. 😂 🥜
My list
Must buy: Industries, Green Cities, After Dark
A: Snowfall, Natural Disasters
B: Parklife
C: mass transit
Passable: Campus, Airports
i was struggling trying to pick my first dlc, this video was so helpful! i’m going for green cities 😊 if i wasn’t on console i’d be using your instant gaming code
IG has console codes too :) Green Cities is an excellent choice, enjoy!
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG i should have looked into that before purchasing, next time i’ll be sure to use your code!
for most part I agree with the tier list but as a former industry traffic planner I despice industries dlc traffic.
No problem! Plazas & Promenades is also very good too!
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG That's good to know as well. Thanks!
That ad was flawless lol
Cities skylines is on sale on both xbox pc and steam. I’m torn on which one I should get. The Xbox PC has the base game plus seasons one and two for $25 but I don’t think it can be modded. I’m leaning towards the Xbox PC because it comes with 6 DLC & 3 content creators pack. I’ve never done more than open the game, but I’d like to give it a try. I just don’t want to sink a whole lot of money into it or just buy the only the BG and miss out on DLC that might make it more fun. What should I do?
Screw the Xbox sale bro, use Instant Gaming, its cheaper almost all of the time all year: www.instant-gaming.com/en/?igr=overchargedegg
You can get a lot of DLC very cheaply and just chuck which ever ones you fancy trying out into your basket. Airports & Plazas has released after this video, they are also very fun!
Love the video, love the other tabs you have open, makes me feel really clever for calling them 'easter eggs'
Egg, you're the only person who can make an enjoyable ad 😆😆😆
Agree on 99% of the list, though I would put Natural Disaster on my Must Buy tier as well, because one of my favourites things happened after finishing a build, is to spam as many tornadoes, thunderstorms and tsunamis as possible. Seeing the destruction, and the rebuild that follows is just euphoric. A complete circle of creation, destruction, and re-creation.
Did not ask 👍
good tier list
Thanks!

Here: Hold my egg...
I'd love a short vid with the new DLCs and CC Packs ranked, i'd love to hear your opinion on them. But maybe more for when the financial stuff is out.
That advert with the gameplay 😂😂😆 perfecto!
Nice tabs lmao. Also that was a high quality ad 😂
You earned a like and subscribe just for that map for the Manscape ad at the beginning 😄😅😂
Trolley busses are just busses that need a wire to work so they have higher maintenance costs than regular busses without the benefits of the tram.
And what tier would "Airports" be in?
Opposite of a secret blend of 11 herbs and spices = mayonnaise? No. Blimps.
I see the Cities Skylines Mayor Edition was just 25 euro in the Microsoft store. So got that now after seeing this video! :)
Have an urge to sort out the garden and buy DCL's. Have I been duped ;)
Just buy all of them (except Natural Disasters) and you are a happy city builder :)
Thats the best manscape ad i've ever seen 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don’t know if your still looking at comments but where would you rank the two new dlc’s (I know we haven’t got the newest yet but we know what it’s about now). In my opinion the airport’s dlc is an A tier since I like what it does however most of it’s effects are late and not huge while the newest (which I don’t remember is the name) is S tier since it effects the game early and you can effect a large part of your cities (I’ll be using it around every school and transport hubs).
What mod did u used to clear trees
this man ads is creative 🤣
My main bug near as a vanilla player was not having things like MoVe It Traffic Manager and parking lots and nothing got on my creative nerve was having marinas and ship docking ports, piers so far up from the the actual boats/ships how on earth do people step onto a ship/boat so far down (thank god for move it)
So my ranking is almost exactly the same as yours however I’d put Snowfall dead last as I’ve never used a snowfall map the heating aspect can be annoying when you get demand for heating in a non snow fall map, but I’ll probably move this up higher when I get around to including the snow fall assets into my normal city builds..
Industries is number one.
I wish they went a little more 'wacky' with the natural disasters DLC... I miss having Kaiju and aliens attack my cities. Just have a toggle for people who don't want that sort of thing.
I don't remember, but I think I bought mass transit thinking it would have trams and then I also had to buy snowfall afterwards.
bro you killin me with the manscaped haha
Thank you! You made me buy Parklife! I absolutely didn't regret it!
Can we get a map tier list?
You can :)
Jesus Christ Egg that sponsor slot! 🤣
Lol
Totally agree on the must buy part.
these are game changers.
On the whole I’d agree with these. I’d definitely be interested in a tier list of the ccp/other dlc content
🤣 Nice ad.
I love green cities because of the buildings. That's no 1 for me.
Thanks lol
Green cities is life :)
In my list:
A: Campus, Industries, Parklife
B: Mass transit, Sunset harbor
C: After dark
Passable: Snowfall, natural disasters
What a weird city it would be without mass transit and nightlife, but with campus
Bit late to the party. But the reason Snowfall doesn't add seasons and only allows either snow or no snow is an engine limitation.
As hotel and retreat dlc might be the last dlc Cities Skylines publishes before CS 2, please rank all the dlc (and mini dlc of course) and content creator pack, thank you
my first overchargedegg video starts off with a demonstration of my balls in cities skylines.
Natural disasters is my absolute must, and favorite dlc. Disasters make the game a challenge.
haha the tabs in your browser "single eggs in my area"
What map is at 19:09
Murky coast from Campus DLC, that city is my series called Palaven :)
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG ily
@@OVERCHARGEDEGG sorry to bother you but right now I have enough money to buy park life or green cities. Which would you recommend over the other?
