Hey Toadie! Love your channel. Ill give some comments on console - Console makes a bit more difficult to tame DLC's first because space (you only have 9 squares unless you are in remastered that is 25). Being Base Console player - you are SUPER VANILLA heheheh - so a lot of DLC's are actually a problem - Airports and trains are difficult to use due to the amount of space they need; now the CCP also are sketchy sometimes your console does not load all the CCP contents or grab just some part of it - for example you can have all the unique but you can't use the style on your zoning; the piers are the worst to use the tools snap weird and looks like the console can't conceive the existence of them never blend to the ground or area... I believe sunset harbor is free in console... if not too cheap... but oddly is really useful in console cuz all blend it pretty good the intercity bus PUSH A LOT TOURISM is crazy how much the trolley is useful since your cities can't grow too much for a intercity train and you don't want bland metro or bus and the overground metro if you want to recreate chicago or mexico city. Thanks for your channel!!!
The Stadium dlc was time limited because that's often how sports teams work, seasons (1 year) at a time for commercial contracts and 3rd party licensing. Sports games also have to purchase that limited licensing
This Brooklyn & Queens DLC, especially these bricky buildings, reminds me of some neglected soviet-era blocks from my country with dark alleys. I will use them a lot in my CS cities :D
Actually my opinion is that Airports could’ve been an S tier for me but the things that lacked for me were missing things that could’ve gave it more potential like airport service vehicles props, airport PD & Fire stations, a monorail station, the ability to criss cross runways, and maybe certain props could’ve been functional like the jet fuel station
I agree with S and D. I would move skyscrapers up to B and Sunset Harbor as well. Sunset Harbor gave us trolleybuses and with the new update, they're worth it.
I agree with most of your list except for Sunset Harbor. I really prefer the inland water treatment options and like the fishing aspect. Good view Toadie 😀
Same here, I use the inland water treatment plant exclusively and have fish/algae/seaweed farms and fish factories in every build. The Childcare and Eldercare are also used, more for increasing the health then for the visuals.
Agreed Sunset Harbor has many good assets they just don't have the same cohesion as other DLCs. Natural Disasters shouldn't be in the same zip code as Sunset Harbor, let alone same tier.
What a wonderful way to summarize all CCPs and DLCs. Industries (and the transfer manager mod) changed completely how I play the game. While your other "S" components are highly valuable, the industries really captured the economic and logistical challenges. While maybe not popular, only a politics DLC could possibility be as impactful.
Pretty Spot on .when put all together like this CS II has a Ton to live up too. Now I can't imagine how much Different it may be in comparison with all Sim city games and Colossal Orders experience with the whole community and it's Content Creators . Now the anticipation is almost killing me .
Excellent guide! I think Mass Transit as well as Bridges and Piers is absolute must have - the quays and hubs and more transportation options is a must - I cannot play without these two. Agree with the rest more or less :)
15:30 The thing that baffles me about the RoJ metro stations is the big ones that only have one metro track. They should have been more of an alternative to the 'metro plaza' from Bad Peanut's Train Stations CCP.
Good video, but I think it'd be useful/better (if you want to) to have a tierlist where the rating is determined with factors like cost, how often it gets used, content etc. Would love to see a video like this :-)
Okay, video over. I feel like I need to make my own list because there would be some serious discrepancies based on exactly what's alluded to at the end -- a difference in priorities. Content that is mechanically difficult to use or 100% cosmetic does not do as well for me as content that enhances the gameplay experience. Hence I'd put Sunset Harbor high (inland treatment plants) and Campus incredibly low (it's *such* a PITA to level).
I think Industries is THE BEST DLC, but only when combined with traffic mods. It basically allowed you to print cash, But the traffic Jams it caused were so hard to fix in vanilla.
Personally I would swap Sunset Harbour and Airports. Loved the addition of fishing and trolleybuses (even though the latter was largely pointless to use until many updates later) but felt that airports fell a bit short for me when it comes to creating a realistic airport.
It's stunning how much content exists in 8 short years for this game. I was a huge SC4 patron, and was a late sign-on for C:S (2019). I agree largely with your picks here although there are a few I never even bought. I do hope CS2 incorporates more up-front features that have been proven winners -- the basic mods we all rely on such as move it and road math/anarchies, as well as industries, park life, and mass transit. I can't imagine that will be so, and we will probably be asked to purchase many of the same types of DLCs in future. I suspect we will see more of this new variation element on parks and things in the new game, which is absolutely brilliant as well as elegant. One thing i am utterly sick of is the cartoony nature of the buildings. Even these new P&P buildings with all the obnoxious color schemes on them. I believe the target audience for the game is primarily adults who appreciate realism. being able to build a realistic city remains the number one goal, if all the mods, mod buildings, transportation bldgs, and even parks and such are the hint the communituy is dropping. We want realism, stop feeding us kiddie stuff! Your round up here is actually a big help because i bought so many DLCs and CCPs at once in a bundle that i don't always know what goes with what. Danke!
Bitte. : ) I am curious the overarching demographics because I can kind of appreciate the cartoon-y feel. The game itself, management and city simulation, will grab our attention as adults. But then make it feel a bit more bright and 'simple', and then you also get the kids' attention and such a wide variety of audience I assume is great for profit. That said we did see the words "Most realistic city builder" come from them in relation to C:S2, so let's see!
Skyscrapers in c tier I disagree I got tired of using the same old art deco buildings and that one tall building that was a mod and those japanese buildings.
26:08 I love the plazas dlc... but the enormous cost is really annoying... so is the fact that you can't place all service buildings and especially park entrances on pedestrian roads...
I'm new to all this and bought the ultimate bundle on PlayStation recently. No regerts. Pizzas and pomegranates is next 😂 However I was super disappointed by campus dlc. The progression of each area is very linear and there's NO mix and match ability other than paths. What if I don't want a police academy or prefer the university statue? Too bad. I'm finding it a struggle to get to 5*, have used a HUGE tract of land... and it's just not fun to keep up with it. If I can ignore the rating next time and just focus on aesthetics, it might be worth another shot. Great video, you may have convinced me to pick up a couple more ccp!
Good vid!!!! Mostly agreed. I would put Sunset Harbor in A, Mass Transit in C, Skyscrapers & Modern Cities in S, Airports in A. The reason why I'd put Airports in A is because it is very fun to watch airplanes land and take off, plus watching the cargo getting tranported at the cargo port is pretty addicting.
I will likely never purchased Disasters. Still haven't bothered with Airports since I usually just build smaller cities and towns. I liked Plazas well enough, but I don't use them all that much except for the additions to Trolleys. I see no great rush to get the Banking stuff. I haven't been play lately so I don't know yet about Hotels I love all of the others, even Snowfall, except that it's hard on my eyes. Like you, I would have enjoyed it much more if I could have selected one of four seasons at the outset. I like Sunset Harbor, too, but I understand it's limitations. I need fishing in my cities, though.
university ccp honestly is s tier for me bc the commerical buildings are top tier because they add all those low density commerical buildings that i always find myself using and trying to weed out the cartoony base game ones.
From what I understand a reason why they don't is because there aren't enough of each size and level of building to fill out the "complete list" of what you'd need for a style selection. But then, not sure how they got around that on console. 🤷
I agree with the S and Ds mostly, except for the map pack. I understand that the OP has a good point in loving it, but I don't think this pack deserve such a high ranking. In CS, many DLCs comes with ~5 maps to play with. For average people, having 3-4 "large" DLCs is enough for a life-long game experience, not to mention the even more stunning and diverse community workshop maps. However this pack comes with nothing but 8 vanilla maps. That's why I wouldn't recommend it unless you really like a certain map within it.
The Brooklyn CCP is awesome. The kind of buildings we have in my place in Catalonia are much like these, so I can build much of a town with those. I would put it in A
I believe the Stadiums DLC was limited time only because there were actual sport teams branding. So they had to have a licence, that was limited time only
[CS Vanila-Vanila] yes, tho simcity 2013 was lying on the floor , with a broken nose and Cities XL in the backyard watching birds go by while chuging a beer or two every half hour or so
Personally, I only got the Airport DLC for the new mass transit options that came with it (500 capacity metro, 100 capacity buses, etc). I really feel that the Airport thing is useless, and the basic ones from the game are superb and do the job perfectly to begin with. It also broke ALL the mods for custom aircrafts and I was never able to make them work again with regular non-airport DLC assets (so a HUGE minus for me). If it wasn't for the transit options (and technically you could use mods for that, if not on consoles) I would put it in an "F" tier. Yes, a failure. But since it has those small perks in it, I think it came with a lot of roads too, so putting it in D-tier. It's kind of the same deal with the university campus. I mean, it's something that I see almost all content creator use, but I don't feel it personally, I am **so** glad they implemented high-capacity education buildings in a more recent DLC. I already had mods for those, but more variety the better. Never use the Concerts, skipped the financial ones too. The rest of the DLCs are pretty good, and I agree the fishing one is "meh" but it's still worth it. I really love Heart of Korea for a few bits like that advanced incinerator (which replaced a VERY old mod I was using to do the same thing) and the small police station is very good for smaller districts or those industrial ones from Industry DLC. I dont often do custom parks, but I'll be the first to say it's really good. Plus if you position it very well, you can really make bank without trying to cheese it. In my more recent city I have this "Central park" made with a city park from that DLC... Cranked entry price to 20$ and it makes like 10-15k profit per week, I mean... yeah awesome. The DLC that introduced those land water treatment plants also introduced the recycling centers, real ones that output goods from processed trash. It's an often overlook perk but it puts it in A tier for me, just for that alone. Too Bad a lot of mods that feature recycling centers never updated their mechanics to it. But your list is pretty much dead on. Even tho I rank them to how much I use them, which drag a lot of them down the tiers, they almost all have something to add. I so SO SO SO much agree with seasons. I think I played ONE snow map, and that was enough for me, heh.
Anyone watching this should definitely note that these ratings are for a VANILLA player. Anyone with access to the workshop don’t not at all use p&p or green cities.. might have been smart to specify this.
yes After dark came with the base game in playstation. I think Afterdark is S class... cuz is base!. thanks for your video Ill try shopping malls and sport venues I think will make great with plaza and promanades and the new hotels and retreats and park life (which I love a lot) ; I agree with you with Green cities I love it and more because you can have a water treatment plant at start and the geothermal plant with the oil plant that utility (goethermal) is fantastic!!! then I love so much industries :D Cheers! great video!
@@MichaelCollins-dl5om "Obsolete" is a bit heavy, no? Map Pack 3 goes in S Tier easily. Alpine Village is A Tier, only lower because of more niche appeal.

@@ToadieZzz yeah, for being on brand, it deserves the rating you gave it, but for what it actually added? It's the Thanksgiving leftovers of the stuff you couldn't eat on the day because Grandma went too hard and cooked for an army
Financial Districts for me was meh & good at the same time. Overall I would put it as C tier. But if the office buildings were released on their own as a CCP, the CCP would be B tier / maybe A tier because I like them a lot.
I kinda disagree with sunset harbor since it added inland water treatment plants (unless im misremembering) which are a godsend if you dont want poop rivers
I'm so torn about getting more dlc than I have. With cs2 coming I don't know if I will play one after it comes out. But also with financial issues coming from congress I have to be on a super tight no spend. Our income is military retirement and social security. Both of which may not show up next month. So I have to wait to decide. I guess I can put the decision off. Well I have to put it off. I'm just frustrated, lol. Great video I will save it until I get my answers. At present I only have 3 or 4 dlcs purchased.
I feel the frustration and I'll be honest, if I wasn't using Cities as a staple of my job I would find myself hard pressed to spend money on a lot of these as well. They go on sale often, at least. Hugs from my family to yours.
Skyscrapers i strongly disagree with. The ccp turned my downtown into a proper realistic city center. I do wish it had a little more and some iconic buildings like the empire state ect. But a must have if you are going for a amarcen or a Asian style city.
I can't lie, the railroads of japan, its good buuuut... has some disappointments; the fact that the huge metro terminal buildings have only two platforms is just dumb. They should have 4 or 6 for the size they are. And shame we only got two trains & one metro, despite the actual JR being very much populated by a large number of different railway stock. It's a good dlc but wish it was better.
Looking back at the list a day or so later I wouldn't be upset if it was lifted up a tier, but I think I still feel my individual points about it. So yeah, generally agree.😅
Now that they're all out, which is your favourite DLC, and which is your favourite CCP?! I'm so curious!

@@ToadieZzz yeah, for being on brand, it deserves the rating you gave it, but for what it actually added? It's the Thanksgiving leftovers of the stuff you couldn't eat on the day because Grandma went too hard and cooked for an army
@@zephyrblayze Ahahaha I'm writing down this description to blatently rip off and call my own at a later date. ; )
I never have bought any DLC or CCP, not sure if I'll bother with CS2 coming
What are content creator packs? Do they just add buildings? Are they from the modding community?
Financial Districts for me was meh & good at the same time. Overall I would put it as C tier. But if the office buildings were released on their own as a CCP, the CCP would be B tier / maybe A tier because I like them a lot.
Feel this!
What is SABCD 🤔
I kinda disagree with sunset harbor since it added inland water treatment plants (unless im misremembering) which are a godsend if you dont want poop rivers
Honestly I always forget they're part of Sunset Harbour, which I think says something. BUT I agree, they're top tier goods.
I was the 69th like... NICEEEEEE. Great vid, Toadie!
Thank you Zreeeeeez!
Wait.. the basketball park and the dog park were pre order??? Why do I have them?
They were given to all players in the base game in 2016! : )
Green cities!!! 100% on your S tier. Hippie Farmers Markets, here I come 😁
💪🍃🍃
Toadie is so underrated
no u
Skyscrapers i strongly disagree with. The ccp turned my downtown into a proper realistic city center. I do wish it had a little more and some iconic buildings like the empire state ect. But a must have if you are going for a amarcen or a Asian style city.
the reason stadiums is no longer available is because the licensing deal expired after a year.
Learned this today! And it makes sense, of course.
@@ToadieZzz 😄
I can't lie, the railroads of japan, its good buuuut... has some disappointments; the fact that the huge metro terminal buildings have only two platforms is just dumb. They should have 4 or 6 for the size they are. And shame we only got two trains & one metro, despite the actual JR being very much populated by a large number of different railway stock.
It's a good dlc but wish it was better.
Thank you toadie
💙
nice
nice
Snowfall is S bcs of trams😮
The answer is don buy dlc instead wait for cs2
You were too hard on the second map pack, otherwise generally agree
Looking back at the list a day or so later I wouldn't be upset if it was lifted up a tier, but I think I still feel my individual points about it. So yeah, generally agree.😅
Green City DLC ist immer noch das Besser
Absolut.
I watched the video and realized how much money I spent on the game.... :(
Try not to dwell on it too much! 😅
