You should add a monorail station on the part of the line you can see at 19:19 with a pedestrian bridge linking to the tram stop. That will make it much easier for people to get to other parts of the city.
A tram route going the opposite way around the circle would help people too.

Hey Chris, not sure if you’re American or not but this might be interesting either way for you. Some cities like the smaller ones outside and around Miami still use the grid system, but they are set up different. The grids cover miles of road, making square-mile squares between the intersections. In these squares, there are small communities that can be accessed from several locations to these grid roads. Each community is different and holds a certain character while still allowing for fast travel outside. Public transport like busses will drop people in front of the entrances but not inside, letting foot traffic and local drivers have the only reason to travel there. Most of the exits/entrances will have stop signs, exit lanes, and median breaks like most highways. The communities themselves are slower traffic, windy roads with a few cul de sacs and roundabouts. Efficiency never seems the main goal, but some type of natural and organic property setting in the space that is so rigidly set aside for living. It’s actually a decent contrast, for someone who lives in such a location.

You can have ferries to connect to the ferry lines down the river as a way to not clog up metro or monorail. Just around the square closest to the river toward where you might have the Uni or something like that. You might want to have an industry area close by so there are jobs for the people who move in but don't have education yet.

As a Dutch person, I really like this district. Perhaps getting bicycle paths tot connect the islands vertically (encourage biking) and perhaps extending the canals to the surrounding water on al sides. Perhaps building the university area in the same way (between the offices and the nearby monorail) and connecting it to the rest of the city via this district by ferry.
Suggestion for a name: Theezakjeswaard (Theezakjes = Dutch for tea bags, because you drop those in the water. Waard = Dutch for flat landscape near a river ).

If you want the water lapping up against your doorstep... you have to level your building area to just above the water line. I know, this is advanced waterworking stuff, but free tip for you there =D
On a more serious note, I'd love to see you do a proper canal city build. Take a look at the maps of Amsterdam, Delft, Utrecht, or Venice, Suzhou, Bankok, or Cape Coral. There are some pretty awesome ideas there.

Some suggestions since you're looking for more ideas:
    1) I think a zoo or nature preserve would fit really well between the canal zone, IT cluster/metro hub, and that coastal district. There's plenty of space for something big and open, and a huge metro hub nearby for visitors
    2) The canals seem like a great place to use cable cars. They don't seem to get a lot of use, and this seems like a great area for something gimmicky. Barring that, river boats would also be fitting. Just a little something extra to move through the middle area while the tram covers the periphery.
    3) Also want to second the idea of a park island in the center of the new district. Maybe combine two of the islands and delete a third to make room for some recreational docks.

    Hi Biffa.
Good to see you giving credit to overs for ideas / inspiration.
For me , i would add 1 x ferry stop next to the tram depot on the south end.
Also up on the north end you have a monorail passing by, so why not add i station.
This would give that new local district 2 additional options to connect to other neighborhoods
    Regards
    George

You should definitely add a monorail stop on the road that borders this lovely neighbourhood!

Maybe an idea. In the middle, there are a couple "plots" that hasn't any transportation. Maybe an idea with a bus route to connect them to a couple tram stops? It's just a suggestion :)

Shaoshing-Found this Green Tea related canal name from a Chinese tea district in the 1870s ish.
This is the text extract”The manafactured leaf is brought down from Teen Kai by rasts or very small boats. From Ken Whan, near Moyune, requires a land portage of 10 miles. Arrived at Sing-ling, the tea is carried by transport boats the rest of the way to Teen Kai; from Teen Kai to Yih Chia, near Hangchow, the journey is made without change of boat. At Yih Chia it is carried over to the Shaoshing Canal, and on this canal it is conveyed to the Taingo River, carried in wheelbarrows a short distance to a ferry boat, ferried over the river to the town of Pah Kwan, placed in boats in the canal, which convey it to the Yuyao branch of the l'ung River; thence to Ningpo it is conveyed in four boats, and subject to three short portages while en route to this port.”🤔🩺☕️

You should add a CCW version of the tram route, and a couple of ferry stops to get from this section to another coastal area.

    That looks really cool.
Maybe set a monorail station on the main road going nearby so they have a way to get downtown without driving? You could do a pretty footbridge over the canal to the station. Maybe use one that has the road built in?
    Love the design.

You could (im not sure, but maybe) increase land value with long thin parks, that span the canals that have the two-squares of unzoned grass either side. If you also have walking paths between some of the blocks, you could make some money from them ^^
Such a cool area, I love the look of it !!

You could call it the Infusion Village, which combines the tea theme and the water. Or, because it looks like a perforated teabag, you could call it Bag End Estate. :D

you MUST put some tiny parks in. Remove one canal between a block and replace that with a park. Diagonal foot bridges across the chamomile canals to connect surrounding blocks to the park. More than one tiny park.

As a Dutch person I had a different picture in my mind when you mentioned 'canals'... but this is very nice. There should definitely be some boats on the water however.

„Strainer district“ because obviously it looks like it and it’s best for a brew 🤫. I’d love to see the monorail into it, maybe enhance the roundabout station to a real hub with the tram... maybe a ferry at the bottom by the tram depot and extend the mainroad to there too.

In Phoenix, we use a canal system for our water which is controlled by Salt River Project, and their is the Arizona Tea Company. Sice it's a self sufficent area, call it the Arizona Green Tea Project

One thing to be aware, maybe you are, so just putting it out there:
Reducing the number of vehicles on the line is not always the best idea as i have noticed in my own city. Let me explain. With certain mod (possibly advanced public transport whatever it is called) every public stop has a timer. Timer represents the time until people leave the stop if they don't have any vehicle come pick them up. If timer gets to 0, people start leaving the stop.
So the reason you might not have anybody on the stop is that people waited too long for public transport and if it didn't arrive, they left. Then you might check your own line and see you have 0 passangers, so you will think: "Hey this line is not used enough, lets reduce number of vehicles". But it was the lack of vehicles that created the lack of passangers in the first place.
What I have done was I went through stops individually and checked the timers and when people started leaving and adjusted the number of vehicles accordingly, so that the timer would never fall to 0 on any stop on the lines. Again, you might be aware of it already, so just putting it out there for other people too. :) Great city by the way

Canals look great, maybe need to add some footbridges to join some of the islands together, particularly the middle section - roads just go around the outside

  • @thomashr7271
    @thomashr7271 4 роки тому

I love the idea of an island for parking!
I was wondering why you didn't use the watchtowers instead of the fire station, it would save you some space and provide a very good coverage (especially with the fire plane station nearby).
Maybe an express bus line from the canals to the IT center could be useful :).

I did this earlier in the week without seeing any videos. I'm playing with no cheats,no mods, and a fulltime job, lol. I havent played it out long enough yet, i did no roads connecting them. So far its working. I was trying to solve the crazy traffic jams at my highway roundabouts before 50 000 people. Industry DLC killed it. Had a 170 000 city before DLC with 85% traffic without even trying. Game on PS4 needs alot of patches

Can you showcase some of the supertall buildings from the workshop in your city? perhpas on the river bank between the city centre and the hamilton district to help knit the city together. love watching your city develop.
