As someone who only just got into cities skylines, your series is incredibly handy for knowing what is out there and getting a brief overview of what we can get when we buy these packs
I absolutely love train stations ccp. I think it's the best ccp they ever released. Bridges&Piers is a close second to it. Wonderful video! Can't wait for that maps tier list. 👀
Very nice! I grabbed all the console dlc in a sale. Loved how you showed alot of the assets! It's not a tier list but a video showcasing some of the growables that you use to get that extra good vanilla finish that you do would be kinda cool
This has certainly helped give me a good view of what the Content Creator packs are all about. I had the perception previously that they were just small cash grabs, but hearing about and seeing some things added by these packs, I got my eye on many of them. European Suburb, Modern City and High-Tech Buildings to name three I'll likely buy when they're next on sale.
Glad it could help! Shameless plug, they are all very cheap through my referral link, might be of interest to you :) www.instant-gaming.com/en/?igr=overchargedegg
For the university city spawning, not sure if it’s just because I’m on console, but you can actually designate a district to only spawn them. Only problem is that they revert to boring normal assets once they’re fully upgraded which is super annoying.
Same. I like how they spawn in non-specialized areas becausae of their looks. But when it comes to the residential assets you need to keep an eye on them or else once they hit Lv5 they turn into 2 patterns of default assets and will ruin your univ-city aesthetics.
High Tech Buildings is the most exciting content creator pack IMO because the buildings have balance changes versus vanilla buildings. The faculty is a smaller university with higher upkeep per student served but lower upkeep overall than the vanilla university, so it’s really good for small towns where you’re not running a campus. The wave power plant is cheaper than the advanced wind turbine to maintain but costs more up front for the same output. It is also more compact, so you can sneak more of them into the same space on the water with high winds.
@@shadowcobra69 You're thinking of the Shanghai Tower, which is a different building. :) The Pearl was the tallest tower in China when it was built though (in 1994) but Shanghai Tower, Shanghai WFC and a few others have surpassed it since then.
I'm so gutted that Stadiums pack is no longer available. I understand why, but it still sucks. At least I have access to mods now though, and I found some cool ones like Leicester Citys old Filbert Street stadium and Celtics Hampden Park. They don't seem to work the same way as the match day stadium are are just cosmetic, but they still look cool! Also, agree on the Train Station pack. That sunken metro plaza hub is the coolest asset in the whole game!
I own the Stadiums pack and i can guarantee you, that when playing the game they are 99% cosmetic anyways. I didnt even know you could change policies on them, before i saw this video.

Hi, one thing I definitely do like about your videos is the way that you try to blend your areas into each other as well as your effort in adding realism and detail. I've never been able to truly play cities skylines yet but have wanted to for many years. It's my favourite game out there. I do have one suggestion for you that you could either try in a future project or in one of your previous cities that will challenge you while also adding an extra layer of realism. Now at least in Britian, I'm aware that we do have some big cities surrounding big Rivers as well as some seaside towns. I'm also aware that a lot of places either by the sea, or in Cities like London have some tidal water. So my challenge for you is to try to make a city with some tidal rivers, estuaries and of course, the sea. I think this would go very well with some of the new bridges and stone quays that you use in your cities. I'd love to see some mud on the sides of those quays when the tide goes out. Possibly still leave some deeper water where the ferry's, ships and fishing piers are so the ships can still get in. I hope this was a helpful idea, I'd personally love to see you try it out but it's up to you. Weather it works and you like it or not is another kettle of fish. Please do keep up these tier list videos because I do find them very helpful in terms of knowing what to expect of them and thank you for reading this comment/suggestion, sorry if it was so long. I'm sure there is a tides mod out there somewhere.
Did you ever find a way to place the two new piers from the Bridges and Piers pack? They're under the park tab and the Paris one looked a bit weird to me. Maybe show us in a livestream how you would use these? I'd really appreciate it.
It's not among my biggest priorities, but I do hope they eventually get around to putting Concerts on consoles. Just the only reason being, um, why not? Seriously though I never been able to figure that out. Why is one missing. Kinda itches the completionist side of me. My actual biggest console priorities: 1] More than 9 tiles please! Don't care what kind of warning you have to put on it, I want the ability to SPACE OUT my cities! Not have them look all squashed up. 2] Placeable water sources. Or a map editor! Map editor would be awesome but I know that's asking a lot. Placeable water sources isn't, though. 3] A lot of the basic buildings I see PC players using all the time that look like they should be in vanilla, such as power line extenders, large water pumps, and such. 4] A couple more brush sizes for landscaping with? Can take a really, really long time just to flatten out a large area at the moment. 5] Height adjustment of already-placed assets please! Very essential given that a lot of vanilla assets - particularly seafront and university-area - glitch very badly to the terrain level. 6] Stop signs that DON'T BEEP! It's so infuriating! I always remove them all just to never hear those beeps again. 7] Placeable oil, stone and fertile ground assets. I'd like to be able to use these buildings in maps that don't have the assets, or don't have the assets on the squares I need. 8] The ability to draw areas of not-grass onto the map. Like beach sand, rocks, dirt, concrete. 9] Allow us please a cheat that reads "shoreline never required". It's so damn overfussy, why can't I just build walls where I want them? 10] Parking lots, both flat and multi. In a chiefly traffic-management game, it is so weird these aren't among the most basic assets in vanilla.
Some of those vanilla houses can make a neighborhood look like whoville. Also, China actually rents out pandas to zoos around the world for 1mil a year. They own basically every panda on earth. I'm glad that part isn't too realistic in this game.

Great video! Even though this is old, I wanted to comment because I purchased Modern Japan based on the recommendation, and there is something that wasn’t touched on. The assets themselves? Great! But, the thing about Modern Japan that console folks cannot get around is that the buildings are for some bizarre reason, unique-meaning, they can literally be used once per map. That’s fine for the skyscraper, I suppose, but for the restaurants and hospital? Mid-Century Modern has great ploppable assets, so I know that it is possible. Reading notes by the creator on Steam Workshop, it sounds like this was done assuming that a mod would address this need-which is bonkers. Maybe as a new player, I’m missing something important, but I dunno, it left a bad taste in my mouth. Anyhow, if you’re on PC with mods, I agree that this is worth a buy! But console players? I say pass unless you’re really on-board with the one-and-done approach here. Thanks for attending my TED talk. :D
