Paul DeLay: You have to ask yourself, how is it this guy didn't get several Handy Awards? His playing, his vocals, his song writing...all of it. Of course we all know it goes back to the blues 'purists' that are stuck in their thing and simply won't reward the natural progression the genre takes (every genre takes). They've done as much to hurt it as they have to preserve it. But here's the rub: To the players, they got it. They got he was special, his gift for song writing, his vocals that spoke in such emotive and personal tones. I expect Paul would have said he was just doing what was coming Into his head. But what wonderful arrangements and stories the guy tells. His mastery of the harmonica - beautiful and unique - because the man never played 'licks', he played stories. I wasn't surprised when I heard he died but it didn't ease the pain of seeing such an amazing talent leave this planet. This song is a perfect example of why Paul DeLay deserves a place among the giants of the blues.
Back in the day I used to listen to a local public radio station that had a blues show every weekend. I used to ask for Paul every show but they wouldn't play him because they said he was too "progressive".
He was a brilliant , singer, Chromatic, and Diatonic harmonica player. Wrote so many great albums. " Take it from the Turnaround " is outstanding. If you find a copy on Ebay, or Amazon, BUY IT. RIP Big fella. You are much loved.

The show was probably run by Eric Clapton fans.
I love pretty much everything Paul ever did, but I keep coming back to this one, both for his amazing playing, lyrics, and heartfelt singing.
