Welcome back to some 8BitStereo goodness, as its time to Revamp one of Tecmo's earliest NES contributions, we have the classic Rygar! Featuring one of the earliest soundtracks by the highly underappreciated Michiharu Hasuya, the master of the two square channel compositions! This OST is a fine example of the perfectly matching compositions Hasuya lays out for this game, the first half of the tracks have a magical and adventurous feel, while the later half goes dark and sinister. All the songs are great, but there is one track in particular that is the highlight of this soundtrack, and that is the "Den of Sagila", just a perfect track all around, and were lucky that we have it as the Japanese version of this game "Argos no Senshi" does not feature this track, as both JP and USA versions have exclusive tracks to there version, I'm so glad Hasuya made the choice to give us some exclusive compositions, and Den of Sagila remains one of his best. Hasuya is also a very interesting composer as a majority of his compositions, especially his early stuff was composed primarily with just the two Square channels, with occasional rare use of Triangle and Noise on songs during gameplay, which did benefit from not having the melody and flow of the songs be interrupted from SFX's. His early sound also deserves thanks to Yoshiaki Inose, as the Sound Driver that Hasuya created for himself appears to be based on the code of the first sound driver used at Tecmo by Inose. If you haven't played Rygar, its a pretty good game, a bit tough and requires a lot of grinding and figuring out where to go to progress, but it has cool looking environments to explore and a soundtrack that is sure to keep you engaged. Thanks for waiting a bit everyone as I had a mini-vacation recently, back to uploading some great OST's, much thanks to all listening and thank you to my Patreon supporters! www.patreon.com/nikotengoku / ko-fi.com/nikotengoku ♥
Very fun fact, and Hasuya also changed the sound just slightly on the Dr. Jekyll version, most likely because by that time he was working with Advance Communication Company and using there "Sound Routine" sound driver.
Very classic showcase of early Tecmo, and fantastic soundtrack before Keiji Yamagishi came in and gave Tecmo their signature sound and quality. But I appreciate this sound Hasuya gave to Tecmo, even if only on two of there early titles.
Hi Niko, it’s a great soundtrack and an awesome song. Thanks for all of the music you’ve uploaded over the years. I’ve listened to your channel since the beginning. Take care.
I wonder if Michiharu Hasuya was given direction to compose just on the Square channels or he decided that on his own to allow the SFX's such as the Diskarmor to never disrupt the melody of the two square channel songs, I feel its usually up to the main sound person (just Hasuya in case of this title) to make that decision, and just kept that his style as well on future titles he worked for with other developers, worked wonderfully in this case! :D

🥰😍🤩😘
How come you didn't include the Japanese OST?
Fun fact 3:09 this melody was like the Title Screen in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, because the composer was the same Michiharu Hasuya

Loved this game and this soundtrack. It was just superb.

11:31 the best song in 8BitStereo by Nintendo era !!!
The sound quality is AMAZING! THANKS NIKO!!!
No problem, keep enjoying these wonderful tunes!
Thank you so much, absolutely one of the best soundtracks and I would say the best nes soundtrack that lacks percussion.
Goes to show you can certainly compose a high quality NES soundtrack with just the Square channels, Hasuya was an absolute master at this.
11:31 One of my favourite songs on the NES.
A true standout of an already stellar soundtrack, and to think its exclusive to the USA version here.

Such a fun action game. I still remember the joy when I finally beat the game, after renting it for a week from the local Blockbuster.
Nice on, beat it felt great being able to complete this game! :D
Big fan of both this game and its soundtrack. I can hear the sound of the Diskarmor thrashing enemies.

Rygar was a decent game, but the soundtrack was exceptional.
Favorite soundtrack EVERRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This game should have gotten a sequel similar to the original game just my opinion
Yes, the PS2 one was only barely similar sadly.
@PsychicPsychToad I tried it and it was like trying to watch sharknado for me
Lol is it that bad? I picked it up used like 15 years ago, but never got around to playing the PS2 version.
@@orokusaki1243 i mean I'm not saying its bad I just wish they'd stayed on the course of the original and gave it a sequel that way.
@orokusaki1243 It wasn't bad, just went in a new and different direction. Rygar NES is a unique gem for many reasons to me however.
Hi,can you remix next game as "Xexyz" ? 😮
