    I love my 2003 C5 automatic. It's bone stock. Thanks to UA-cam videos, I fixed its electronic issues myself (HVAC display, oil pressure sending unit and ABS module). My biggest gripe is the oil leak at the rear of the engine. To replace the rear main seal requires removing the torque tube, transmission and rear end. The local shop wants $1700 just to replace the seal. At 154,000 miles, the engine still pulls like a raped ape.

      I’ve tried to shy away from the 03-04’s because I heard in a video they have some sort of magnetic suspension that was good at the time but now is leaky and faulty? Is that true or nothing to worry about?

      I love my 99 automatic. To date I've replaced my headlight gears, ignition switch, oil pressure transmitter, and the bushings on the tranny shifter after the plastic breaks. I wrecked last year with just body panel damage. My son and I rebuilt her with new rear bumper and right front quarter panel. Upgraded all the lighting to led's and black outs from Vette Lights. Added a new head unit and 12 inch sub. With the insurance money left over I replaced the rear main, rebuilt the tranny, and resealed the rear diff.

    I picked up a 2K Coupe A4 about a year ago. Some head work, a cam, and a Z06 manifold coupled with 342 gears from a 6 speed really woke it up. I also put the titanium exhaust from a Z06 on it as well. A 2200 stall keeps it drivable, with 416 at the wheels it surprises MANY people.

    This was the video I've been needing to see. Makes my decision a little bit easier. I own a Magnum RT. I absolutely love it. But I've been wanting 2 doors instead of 4 and more power so naturally I started looking at Challengers. As much as I love my Mopar. They really are fat asses. Yah they've got the power. But they've also got to much ass. I can get a car but I can't get a car and mod it enough to hold up against anything lighter then 4000 lbs. Great video thx. The C5 would easily fit the need. Damn mid life crisis lol.

    • @Injectedracing

      Thank you! I love the magnums but honestly they can even beat a 1993 Z28 or corvette lt1 car let alone an Ls1 car in stock form. The Ls1 Camaro, Firebird and Corvette all still hold up well against more modern cars. 350 horses is great but not at 4400lbs or whatever they weigh.

For the price difference you could get a Trick Flow 515 hp heads and cam kit that, with an LS6 or Fast intake, long tubes and a tune, will smoke a Z06 all day long. Some people like the looks of the FRC but if you just want to go fast it’s not really worth the extra $.

    • @peterb4143
      @peterb4143 Рік тому

      That’s true and isn’t at the same time, it’s what you want in the car. The Z is over 100lbs lighter, and does have slightly better gear ratios hence the lower top speed which helps in straight line performance. But cost effective wise yeah could totally get a base slap new heads and a fast intake on and your good. But I love my Z becuase whipping it on the mountain roads is something else and the hardtop is more rigid for handling

    Nice vid. I'm enjoying the torch red 2004 base C5 auto I found at a local car lot for what you said, $15K with 96k miles. It's pretty clean and it runs good. I did have the 2.73 diff uninstalled and had a low mileage 3.15 diff installed along with a cheap cat back exhaust, cold air intake and a tune. The car is not slow, and changing the differential really woke it up. I wonder what gear ratio your C5 is running. Being an auto it's got to be either a 2.73 or the performance axle ratio 3.15.

    • @Injectedracing
      @Injectedracing  2 роки тому +1

      This car was just 2.73. I did a 2.73 to 3.42 swap on my old LS1 Camaro (you can find some videos on this page) and it didn’t really seem any faster to me honestly. Never got to test its performance at the track though before I sold it. It was Bone stock too.
      I did race it against this very corvette tho and won every time, so I’m guessing they did actually help. Here’s the video of this corvette vs my stock LS1 convertible Camaro.

      @@brandonwilson4408 Nice. What color is the interior? The reason I picked this torch red C5 is it also has torch red seats and torch red carpet. I know a lot of red, but I haven't seen another one like it.
      If you don't know what differential gear ratio you have, you can look at the back of the diff and there is a tag on it that says "2.73", or "3.15". Or in the glove box, the sticker with all the RPO option codes.
      GU2: 2.73 Axle Ratio
      G90, G92: 3.15 Performance Axle Ratio
      GU6: 3.42 Axle Ratio (6-speed cars)
      For a couple months I was driving around with a built 3.73 differential. But it had a small crack in the case and was leaking gear oil. So I had to drive around with a 10mm 3/8" bit on a ratchet and a couple quarts of gear oil at all times. I had to add gear oil every 2 to 3 days. The car was a friggen rocket off the line, but would cruise at around 3200 rpm at 70 mph. I liked it a lot, but the shop that took it out and installed the 3.15 diff for me said unless I was drag racing the car, I should not run that high of a ratio for daily driving. I didn't really care. All I know is it was kind of like riding in a C6 Z06 taking off from a stop light. 0-60 was right around 4 seconds, C6 Z06 is about 3.7 seconds.
      I still have the 3.73 differential. I need to put the the gear set in a good 3.15 or 3.42 casing and try it again someday.

    Either you were going down a hella steep hill in that first run or your speedometer is off from a gear ratio change. A stock automatic C5 absolutely does not do 0-100 mph in 10 seconds lol. That's how a Z06, which is a solid 10 mph faster in the 1/4, accelerates. And all the races you did were whack. Even a stock gen 1 coyote is a 108-111 mph car. An auto C5 is a 103-104 mph car. I'm saying this as a C5 Z06 and LT1 C4 auto owner.

    • @Injectedracing
      @Injectedracing  2 роки тому +3

      Lol. Yeh, we set up an elaborate hoax and had tons of cars lose races to us, and then we faked the 0-60 and 0-100 times with times that are about identical to stock times lol.
      0-60 on a c5 is suppose to be 4.8, we got 4.9. 0-100 is suppose to be 11.1, we got 10.97. Both of these fall within the range of stock. As far as the grade, it’s actually slightly up hill. Also a stock c5 is suppose to trap 109.
      The 03 z06 stock is suppose to get 0-60 in 4 flat, and 0-100 in 9.2. 12.4 at 116 mph. That’s much faster than this car. Maybe you just have a factory turd and are hostile because your Z06, or maybe fake z06 replica is only as fast as a stock ls1 car. Or maybe you can’t drive stick well because our times are about what they should be, and the times you think a Z06 should be are very slow.
      As far as the coyote trap speeds, 108-111 falls within the reasonable trap speed of a C5 (109). But to be real, the 1/4 mile trap doesn’t matter in the least when all those races against Coyotes were 1/8 mile. I don’t know what this car trapped or ran the 1/4 in. But my friends exhaust only car ran 13.0 at 110, but that’s not this car. But like I said, 1/4 trap is never stated and doesn’t matter in 1/8 mile races.
      And here is a website where you can check factory date for yourself, and you can see that the times we reached are very close to the times they reached. About 1/10 slower to 60 and about 1/10 faster to 100. Very close.

      @@Injectedracing How so? Please provide any documentation of a stock automatic C5 hitting 100 mph in 10 seconds. No auto C5 has ever done 109 mph stock lol. Not many documented 6 speed ones even hitting that. I have never seen one go faster than 104 here in Phoenix. I have two different friends that both went 111 mph in stock gen 1 Coyotes. A stock auto C5 wouldn't stand a chance against them. And my Z06 made 352 whp SAE and went 12.61 @ 113 bone stock at 3000' DA in one try. But I guess a dude who has ~600 passes in many cars has less experience than some guys that floored an auto C5 on the street a few times. Please bring that car to Phoenix so my car that does 0-100 in 10 seconds can magically gap the fuck out of your car that also does 0-100 in 10 seconds.

And by the way lets get this get things straight, the r8 should have waxed the vette but didnt (driver error) i guess and the comment about getting the c5 into the 10s with just bolt ons yeah not gonna happen, i have a buddy with full bolt-ons and a big tank of nitrous still not in the 10s 🤣

      It doesn’t say bolt ons. Bolt ons, heads, cam and, gears stall and slicks, and it can pull high 10’s. And this is a fact.
      Just Bolt ons and it can maybe get mid 12s
      As far as The R8, the video straight up says the Vette shouldn’t have won: there’s no trolling in this video: it is what it is.

      Any corvette is a pile of poop for handling? Lol. Someone doesn’t know what he’s talking about, corvettes are made for handling, they’re sports cars. The c7 ZR1 set factory car records and the c8 generation is doing great work. The c5 by today’s standards may not be world class but for it’s day it was a fantastic handling car, and by today’s standards still a very good handling car.

      Bone stock, except magnaflow mufflers. Cars pretty quiet. 0-60 time is right where it’s suppose to be, but it’s a little faster than normal 0-100. But that could be because the 273. gears tend to pull more up high than low and trap a little better. Also, it was about 30 degrees out.
