UPDATE RE: WILCO SKY BLUE SKY, better than I remember but still not really hooking me in. www.patreon.com/samuraiguitarist
This was uploaded today. How did you comment three days ago?
definitely expected Impossible Germany to be your jam o_o personally it was the track that got me into the band and Nels Cline
Hi!!!!
Zjapp patreon
@@zjapp Probably uploaded in advance and scheduled to publish at a later time. Maybe patreons get a link to the unpublished video in advance; some folks do that
Didn't expect you talking about Nickelback's entire discography for the entire video, but hey, you do you, Sammy G
As someone who reads comments before watching the video, I'm hoping this is a joke.
@@nateo7045 exact same man x)
@@nateo7045, that's the punishment of reading comments before watching the video. :D
EMBRACE THE UNCERTAINTYYYYY
what are you smoking m8 he didnt talk about Nickelback AT ALL
@@rumblefish74, he clearly did. You can read it in the description, as well!
We need to get on this man's Patreon so he can afford Spotify and an aux cable
According to the era in which most of these albums were produced, it has better be a gold-plated Monster Cable.
No way! He's already invested so much in his CD collection, he needs to get the most value out of it!
Nah, CD's are cool
lol he's going to need this when he upgrades that 2010 Corolla. Hardly any cars have CD players anymore.
spotify's collection is too scarce, CDs are the way to go.
Saying "sounds like it was recorded 100 years" ago, when it's only been 85, is a sick burn.
That’s like telling someone that released their album this year that their album sounds like it was released in 2006 lol
"In through the out door" was Led Zeppelin's last album, but after physical graffiti, the band was dying. Page was hooked on heroin and into some dark philosophy, Bonham was drinking himself to death, and Robert Plant lost his son.
But what a grand exit In Through The Out Door was.
The day a car doesn’t come with a CD player is the day I install one or just buy an older car
They already rule those out. Buy older cars.
Yep
I don't get why car manufacterers are not puting CD players on cars, Its certainly not a matter of cost. They are just following the trend of Apple of eliminating useful things for the sake of change.
@@Neufertful really as long as they still have aux ports I can plug my personal CD player in
But yeah they should just keep them in
@@jonahhumfleet472 Lexus is still puting them in newer models
I pay for Spotify Premium, but I'll still buy a CD if the album is good enough to warrant it.
I only buy the CD if isn't on Spotify and I want to listen to it, such as Bandcamp releases.
Me to
CD quality is also better than the highest spotify premium goes to
Sammy G: The best song on here is “Achilles Last Stand.”
“Nobody’s Fault But Mine”: Hold my beer.
It's a good album!
Led Zeppelin's last studio album was "In Through the Out Door", but "Coda" was their last album which included their last unused material
Niandra LaDes is the album that has the most emotional impact on me. Untitled 2 has kept me up at night.
I'm a massive RHCP and John lover, but its very hard for me to listen to that album or even see photos of john from that era, so happy he is still around
The last three untitled tracks are my favorites from him period. It was the last three songs recorded before his first exit from the Chili's. #13 recorded a week before his friend from his days at the guitar institute pre-1988, Robert Hayes, died in a car accident in Alabama, which was the final nail in the coffin regarding his status in the band and as motivation/validation for being a junkie, since he'd only used sporadically since June of '91. "Running Away Into You" was recorded a month after he quit and it sticks out like a sore thumb when compared to the majority of songs primarily recorded under the influence of shrooms, weed, and white wine.
My answer exactly! Was hoping to find someone else with this answer!
@Aiden Frederick only a couple of songs
I think Dr Dre's The Chronic comes with that descending jewelcase crack in the upper lefthand corner. Every copy I've ever owned/seen has had the exact same crack.
I started smiling when he whipped out the pup album
My favourite album is From Mars To Sirius by Gojira. Each song tells a story and the album as a whole does as well. Many times i have gotten emotional listening to that album.
good stuff it's great hearing you go through your music and what you listen to that makes you happy
That PUP album is so goddamn good
A bop for sure
I think the dream is over has bigger hits but morbid stuff is more consistently good
Pup!!!!
So I was introduced to you by my almost 18 year old son a year or two back, as he is a big fan. Love your stuff! I decided to make a little Spotify playlist for him based on your answers. So far I’ve been able to find everything but the South Park. Thanks for the inspiration! 🙃
I love this video so much! Thank you for showing us some good albums :)
my favourite album I discovered recently is "Ummon" by french rock band SLIFT. An interesting mixture of space, psychedelic, stoner, doom and progressive kinda sounds. It's mixed wonderfully, very pleasant to listen to and I simply love the musicianship. It's just a 3 piece band and they sound MASSIVE. Also it's one of these albums that sound exactly like their cover art
dude fuck yeah, slift rocks
Totally agree! Great band and sound.
You just got me into a very good thing
@@tenthirtyone1 glad to hear that, enjoy the music!!
Damn, awesome album, Thanks man!
Music makes me so happy and really saved my life.
I have never seen your channel before but when I saw you pull fully completely out my respect for you sky rocketed! The hip is amazing
Great vid. Nice change of pace.
Great video. I'm gonna dig into some of these. That Paul Simon one sounds like it would be right up my alley.
Love seeing PUP here. One of the best live shows I’ve ever seen.
Liked this one. One of my favourites so far.
❤️😎

Great video
I would love to see you make a video about some local bands from your town. Maybe talk about some of your personal favourites or cool show experiences?
Still love NOFX to this day! 🤘🏻 when you talk about an album you wish you could hear for the first time punk drublic is it for me. I still remember how excited I was hearing bob for the first time. It totally blew me away.
pup is so sick, cool to see someone talking abt them
That was a great video, and I enjoyed that immensely.
I find discussing album collections interesting - not only does it tell about a persons musical taste (and its development), but in my head I wonder "what would the answer be for me?"
But now for something completely different:
"The music you love - jeopardy edition" (Find the question to the following answer):
"Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon"
Thanks for the video, keep'em coming!
i love you dude
part 2 please❤
Bro I have a huge collection of CDs too! Probably spent around $20K on everything, mostly metal, rock, and alternative stuff but without it Idk where I would be in life.
Thanks for sharing what got you into music it's always fun hearing different stories and finding new artists from listening :)
The fact that you mentioned PUP had me tickling my own friggle!! One of my top 5 favs forever, such good people too, prob the Canadian thing haha. Was supposed to see them in Phx, AZ right as covid took over so I cried for a cpl weeks straight. "The Dream Is Over" is a ripper indeed but "Morbid Stuff" really grabs my feels.
such a good band, I literally freaked out when he pulled out that cd, just the opposite of what I thought he'd like.
SRV all day long. Great episode. Thank you.
Nice to see another person with a sizable CD collection. I believe mine's about the same. I'm actually in the process of re-buying a bunch of CDs again because I went through a foolish faze when a friend introduced me to indie rock. Only wanted to listen to metal and indie rock at that point, so all my mainstream classic rock, hard rock, and alternative albums had to go. What a fool I was.
I have electric Ladyland on vinyl, such an amazing record 🤘🤘
Best CD as frisbee? Best aerodynamics etc.
Discovery - Daft Punk
Stadium arcadium
Best frisbee?
Definitely chumbawumba.
As long as you have the shotti ready to send it to it's eternity once it's in the sky, it's, at best, useful as a target.
PART 2!!
I started my Album collection this March/April. And I ain’t stopping soon...
I started my record collection 1 year ago
CD collection 2 months ago
Cool video man
It’s great seeing Full Moon Fever get some love!
I do enjoy Graceland driving across South Africa about once a year. It's a weird combination of the American music I grew up on and the pop music of my country which was always around in the background. I use my old man's Toyota 4x4 for the trip, and it's from like, 2007 or something - no bluetooth or aux in. Got one of those bluetooth to radio-frequency things powered from the cigarette lighter outlet and it works an absolute treat.
This makes me wish I kept all the CDs I had when I was a teenager!
PUP is such a good choice. Love that record
Yesss, It’s great to see Sam roberts band getting some love
RUST NEVER SLEEPS, what a phenomenal shout.
Pocahontas, Thrasher, Hey Hey My My… oh and Powderfinger is one of my favourite songs of all time
Jason Isbell's Southeastern is definitely one of my favorite albums! I totally agree with your assessment.
i still buy cds (mainly for my car as well)…i like the artwork, etc…i don’t need a medal or anything, but i also get some pleasure in supporting the artists
Sky blue sky rocks Sammy G. Enjoy the relisten. The SRV album you mentioned took me back to listening to SRV with my Dad and big brother. Thanks for your videos. I very much appreciate what you do.
That PUP album is awesome great choice!
Good taste
the video i watched with the most amount of pauses ....
as i opened a new tab to check out the albums he picked out, to have a listen !
The white album description has to be the best description of it I've ever heard
Damn! Did NOT expect to see NOFX in there! Hell yeah
Some new stuff to check out, thanks :-) I'm a bit surprised JJ Cale never popped up though.
If there is a way to see the number of downloads over time, we can measure samuraiguitarist's reach.
Pretty sure the obscure Canadian bands will be good test cases.
I agree with you 100% about sky blue sky
Metal🤘
Wow! You really have a nice collection. I still buy CDs every once in a while, because they're quite expensive where I live.
PS: Even Punk In Drublic was always playing on the backgroud when I was a teenager, Dookie from Green Day did it for me
I'M SO HAPPY YOU ENJOY PUP
Awesome to see pup get a shoutout
Sammy, bro, my heart filled with joy when you mentioned Frusciante but that album has nothing to do with despair and addiction. It's all about surrealism inspired by Marcel Duchamp and John said it himself that besides Running Away Into You all of the tracks were recorded while high on weed. Only weed, Untitled 12 being the last one recorded is closer to confusion, John said it himself it's "the thoughts of a person whose head is about to explode". Smile From The Streets You Hold is on another level
Woah! REM Document was also the first album I heard that made me realise what music could be, I also had a copy of it on tape when I was 10
I like cd's too. Listen to them in my car. I like having a physical copy with liner notes and pictures. Presence is one of my favorite zepplin albums. I like crankin it up when I'm working out. All along the watchtower is one of my favorite songs.
I remember once listening (back in Italy) on the radio, a band called "the contribution" 'a supergroup collective' and the album was called 'which way world'. I have struggled to find myself one of those 1000 copies of the cd. but today, I still love it. and I do not normally listen to country/folk music.
many of us would love to see you vinyl collection...
NICE
I started collecting cds couple of months ago i just love having copy on my shelf
One of my cds that I’ve been resonating a lot with lately is Alter Bridge One Day Remains specifically the Songs Burn it Down, One Day Remains, Down To My Last, and The End Is Here
Love to see Chemical City getting some love. I remember Bridge to Nowhere being in the radio every day when I first moved to Alberta from BC at 9 years old and I associate it with a lot of formative memories. With a Bullet is a great song too.
The dream is over ♥️
I've got an old Honda as well. The aux input died so I just use an iPod running Spotify with the albums I downloaded from Spotify playing on it. I did have it full of iPod music from the CD collection, but I've heard most of those albums many times over so it was time to change up the collection.
Glad to see some alt country love with the Isbell!
That PUP album is perfect
You are a brave person... to show CD's instead of everybody either showing off their streaming playlists or vinyl collection
Southeastern is my #1 favorite album of all time
If you haven't checked them out, The Durutti Column is an older band, out of Manchester, with some brilliant and emotive guitar. I have been doing a deep dive in their music lately. My brain really digs what they have done.
Sky Blue Sky is fantastic! Wilco are all time greats. Saw them live a few months ago and it really hit me how many great songs they have.
My sympathy to the brother going through the breakup. I know it's a soul-shaking experience. The good news is, I'm commenting months later and you're probably already good.🤠
That PUP album really is great
Electric Lady Land has my fav Hendrix song, ""Burning of the Midnight Lamp"
Couldn’t agree more about stadium Arcadium! A good double album, but one disc would have been a classic!
I’m also with you on Graceland and Continuum both!
I’ve topped your 500 with 600, but you’ve topped me by having them on shelves and not in boxes in that room nobody ever goes into 😂
I tried taking Stadium Arcadium and removing songs off of it until I got 14 but I couldn’t. Too many good songs would be lost. Hey, Turn It Again, Wet Sand, She’s Only 18, She Looks To Me, C’mon Girl... Curious how u would do it!
Ι really think that you will totally dig the modern Opeth Albums. From Heritage all the way to now. Also add Damnation
5:30 man I had the _exact_ same experience with Continuum. I don't care for much more of John Mayer's stuff but holy hell that album is phenomenal.
Considering Jeff Lynne is my biggest musical hero it would be amazing to sit there and try to help write music with. Him and Tom Petty did wonderful things together, and I feel so fortunate to have gotten a chance to see them both in concert.
Anything by The Tragically Hip is amazing.
There's no music like Canadian music
I grew up listening to EDM,Pop,Metal and Rock Music 🎶🎶
5:30 Finally, the new John Mayer album came out today, I haven't been this excited about an album in ages...stayed up listening to it last night 😍🙀😭
I can recommend Wess Meets West. I think you'd enjoy their style.
In the question about the emotional connection I knew exactly which one Sammy G was gonna pick, quite a sad story, makes me feel grateful for my friends even though I may not have many.
That South Park movie soundtrack was my jam all through the 9th grade. And NOFX is my favorite band. I can totally see how they got you to pick up a guitar and play.
you can use a radio to bluetooth convertor if you want to use spotify
this is a very nice wholesome an interesting video, i have a couple of cd's, but it would be a dream to have as many as you have!!! i miss the days where having a cd was such a special item, i would listen to mine on my discman and get lost, now i just look it up in spotify and everywhere else so its a bit less special!!!
Can I recommend the band Deer Tick? They are a great example of a band currently putting out music that deserve some more attention.
Heck yeah Guns N’ Roses appetite. One of the bands that brought me to love rock n roll
