Celtic Women of Ireland singing Isle Of Hope ~ Live

- This song has a beautiful story to it... As Chloe begins to tell the story, the other girls shortly join her. With a bagpipe intro it follows with a story of when the Irish first came to the United States for the very first time.
With the mention of A young Irish girl who's name was Annie Moore. Annie was the first passenger registered through the now world-famous immigration station when Ellis Island officially opened in January 1892. Just 15-years old, Annie traveled with her two younger brothers, Anthony and Phillip, from Queenstown (the town now known as Cobh) in County Cork, Ireland on the S.S. Nevada. All three children would soon be reunited with their parents, who were already living in New York City.
These girls take my breath away with each performance. I hope you enjoy as much as I do.
This group of Lisa, Alex, Lynn, Chloe and Mairead is the greatest of all their lineups that they put together.
My new all- time favorite song,!
I enjoyed this song immensely the first time I saw and heard it last year at a Celtic Woman concert. Then at another CW concert a few months later I bought a program and the story about how Brendan Graham was inspired to write this song was on the back cover. That made the song even more meaningful and inspirational.
@manhieuza No lip syncing whatsoever. They in fact NEVER lip sync. We get authentic singing when we see them live in concert. What a joy!
This is such a beautiful song and a beauitful video. This is one of my favorites from Songs from the Heart and I'm glad it made it over from Isle of Hope.
Beautiful
The isle of hope is always on my mind. Eire Abu.
I happy you recorded what you did. You know how to use your camera. Most people are all over the place and cover the mic.
mostly German-Irish & damn proud of it
@Shurlz99 @manhieuza Having attended five concerts since 2008 I think it is highly unlikely that they lip sync. I cite specific examples. In 2008, the last year that Orla was with them I caught a little snag when she sang "Carrickfergus". She sang the same line twice, then hesitated slightly and continued on. As soon as she sang it I knew that it was wrong as I know that song by heart. Then last year Lisa started singing "Fields of Gold" and stopped and then started over again.
Chloe Agnew is my favorite singer. The quality here of the recording is pretty bad but you still an enjoyable recording. thank you for sharing
@Shurlz99 As I understand it, there is a Gaelic connection between Uilleann (pronoucned EL E YAN) and Elbow....they are elbow pipes...and have a much richer sound than a bagpipe....love them BOTH!
I am obessed with anything Irish since I am half Irish and my great Grandfather taught me to play Irish fiddle when I was 4. I just acquired a Bodhran that I intend to learn but boy my coordination needs improvement lol. And thank you for the correct spelling gaelig a bit rusty lol
@manhieuza there's no way these ladies would lip sync. they are far too talented for that. plus, you can hear their breath intakes as they start to sing a new line.
I don't think they lips sync because I went and saw them also and I was really close. You could defiantly tell they were really singing. I was sad though because Lisa Kelly was not with them :(. That was in 2008. I did get to see Orla though so I was happy!
@Palmie01
There are videos of Give Me Your Hand, but I haven't come across Fields of Gold yet...:(
Think of the courage it must have taken to be the first person thru the island. Europe gave the US her best.
no not Europe "Ireland" did you hear the song...
For what feels like the thousandth time, UA-cam uses a compression algorithm that's notorious for introducing sync errors.
Holy Moly you had good seats! I saw this in Phoenix but from the back of the theater. To be honest, I can see how people can think they are singing along to tracks but in your video you can tell they're singing. I wonder though why Chloe holds her arms like she does. Just an observation.
cause its emotion and story telling... incase maybe if somebody dont hear the music well from back or deaf they can kind of get the pace and theme of a song ya know.
Around the 5:25 mark. You can clearly see Chloe looking to the left while the others are looking out to the crowd. That is very uncharacteristic of a quartet. They want to be in sync vocally and movement wise. You can tell Chloe is way behind on movements.
Holding her hands can be a signal to the audio guy of an issue with the mic or headset.
I would guess there was an issue with her headpiece/mic
Er, no. That "union" is an Anglophone corruption of "uilleann", which means "elbow." And there are dozens of types of bagpipes (see Wikipedia), of which the uileann pipes are the most evolved, with their seven pipes (chanter, three drones and three "regulators") and the elbow-operated bellows, which allows the piper to sing while he plays.
I have Give Me Your hand uploaded, not a great view from a Iphone, but you can hear it well
@manhieuza They do not lip sync.... I know this for a fact.....
South Bend?
@Shurlz99 i know celtic woman is our idol, 'n' me too but i'm sure - they always lipsycn in every show and every night. 'N' they spoke occasionally through their mics-of course, why not? you can not force them silent and only sing :)) but, you can compare this:

there voices is the same! there's not different
just like to say thats not a bagpipe Tommy is playing the uilean pipe
althought the best of celtic woman, do you think they lips sycn? i'm sure :|
@manhieuza They don't. Most companies dub DVDs, which is why a lot of people (read: youtube idiots) like to scream "LIP SYNCING lololol herp derp" on every bloody video in existence.
South Bend?
