- Day 2 of of British Isles cruise on Ambassador Ambience was a sea day and our first formal night. In this video we look at the drinks packages that are available. Our day was full of food and entertainment, we ate in the main dining room, the Buckingham restaurant for all our meals. We took part in the day time activities that took place onboard. We got to experience what Ambassador offers during its formal evenings and our evening ended with some fantastic entertainment.

Ambassador is Britains newest cruise line and we took the opportunity to sail with them in April 2023.Ambassador market themselves as Britain’s premium value no-fly cruise line who sail from 8 regional UK ports. Ambassador Ambience sailed around the British Isles and we were onboard for 11 nights. Ambassador Cruise Line currently has two ships in operation Ambience and Ambition.
We are Tom and Dom and we experienced our first cruise on the MSC Virtuosa during her UK staycation cruises in 2021. We are relatively new to cruising, however we can now say we are officially hooked.
Our mission is provide a fair and balanced review of our travels. We look at the types of food that is available onboard, from main dining rooms, room service, buffets and pool side snacks. We include menus for each of cruises so that we can share the selection of drinks and meals that are available. Entertainment onboard a cruise ship is important to us and we enjoy theatre production shows, live music, quizzes and game shows. We love to explore different ports and destinations and enjoy sharing tips and tricks so that you can make the most of each port. We often explore ports independently but also book excursions that are interesting to us.
We have created a list of our cruise essentials. These are items we take with us when we travel and we hope they may be useful to you. We have also added a Wine list which contains some of the wines we have tried whilst cruising.

This is the 2nd video where cullen skink was on the menu (earlier it was on one of your Island Princess videos; and yes, I'm the type of person to pause and look at the menus). It struck me the first time, because it's a traditional Scottish soup, and I thought it was weird that an American line would have it. They also had rumbledethumps, also Scottish (Gordon Brown mentioned it one time when he was PM). I wonder if cullen skink is a staple on some lines. It's not something I'd ever go for.
Great spot! We wonder why Scottish dishes are so popular although it wouldn't be our dish of choice either.

@19:24. This 'Yank' may be a bit slow but I think I finally figured it out . Are both of you former participants in Tom Ford's Project Upgrade series? . The clues were right in front of us all along: late night partying, catwalks at sea, capsule wardrobes, and fine dining reviews.
On a serious note, what is the trick to keeping your tuxedos looking perfect? Mine looks like a car crash coming out of my luggage. 🙈

Thank you. We arrived at the terminal for 12 noon. The ship departed around 4pm
A lot of useful information, thank you. You said it was a smaller ship. Would this have an effect on sea sickness?
We didn’t feel any sea sickness even though we had bad weather. The strange thing is we have felt the most sea sick on Arvia. The biggest ship we have been on.
Hi guys, fantastic video, I found it very informative!! I’ll be setting sailing from tilbury on ambience this august, we’re expecting many adventurous stops! I was just wondering, when we arrive at our various destinations/ports, unless we book an excursion do we have to pay to exit the ship? I quite like exploring on my own sometimes but I’m curious whether a fee will be added to my expenses if I went off on my own and not on a booked excursion- I only ask as I’m aware all passengers are given a key card/money card, do we present these before heading off the ship?If you could clear this up for myself i would be most appreciative, thank you!!🙂
Thank you for the question. Your cruise card will be scanned on entering and exiting the ship as a way of monitoring where passengers are. There is no charge to leave the ship independently however depending on where the ship is docked there may be a charge for a shuttle bus to take you away from the port area to a town/city. It will be your choice whether to take this option. We are happy to answer any questions you have. Enjoy your cruise 🚢

Formal nights in the specialty restaurants on board , I'm guessing formal attire is required or is it a little less formal in these venues
We would recommend wearing formal as nearly everyone will be dress up formal nights but dress codes aren’t compulsory and are just advised. Jeans, t-shirts, shorts and open-neck shirts are not permitted in any restaurants on formal nights.

Hi guys, great video. Is it compulsory for gents to wear jackets on formal/dinner times? Could other half just wear suit trousers, long sleeved shirt and tie?
Official guidelines say to wear a dinner jacket or lounge suit. However we did see passengers in the restaurant in just shirt and tie.

What happens if you do not dress up on formal nights
How do people get their tuxedo suit on board without creasing it? Can you hand over your suitcase, but keep hold of your suit until you get to your room?
Yes, you can take a suit bag as hand luggage but be aware sometimes your cabin may not be ready so will have to keep it with you

What happens if you don’t dress up on formal nights
Thank you for the question. Unfortunately you aren’t allowed to dine in the main dining room. You are able to eat in the buffet area instead
What's the general age range on board ambassador? Looking for Northern lights cruises but worried will be the youngest on board at 31!
Most passengers are 50+ but there was a good mix of younger people also. We wouldn’t let that put you off
