  • @IVANHOECHAPUT
    @IVANHOECHAPUT 5 років тому +45

    Great video!
    I've written five books and am sensitive to grammar. Today, too many college graduates can't write a decent sentence. The most common errors are the use of words like, "to", "too" and "two", "there", "their" and "they're" and more like these. Another common error is the lack of punctuation such as no period at the end of a sentence, no comma where there should be one and the lack of capital letters.
    I had to learn English when I was six. My native language is French. I'm also a high school dropout. I have 18 patents, most of which I've written myself. It's my belief that this generation has less interest in proper English than my generation. I'm 72. Maybe this is how languages evolve, one generation usurps the existing language to replace it with errors that then become accepted over time.
    I hope it's not just a stupid generation taking over the world!

    Please help me i am confuse
    What is right and please explain.
    "What are they eating?
    Or
    "What do they eat?
    Whats the correct grammar

    • @Brunoviana1
      @Brunoviana1 4 роки тому +3

      Easy, first is a question about something that is happening at that moment,the act of eat now verb in continuous.
      Second,you want to know the tipe,kind of food they eat
      Is like you take a place and see someone eating something you think is good and ask the waitress what are they eating?
      Different for example
      You see someone in a restaurant that is not eating at the moment
      But you want to no know want they eat if is vegan,light,etc in the other words, the tipe of food they eat.
      I understood that way

    • @joemaryorag9692
      @joemaryorag9692 7 років тому +2

      It is correct. Please consider the following examples:
      Example A: without "of" (Verb should agree to the noun (plural) next to most, some, and all.
      1. Most students have passed the exam.
      2. All students have passed the exam.
      3. Some students have passed the exam.
      Example B: With "of the" phrase (Some, Most, and All can be singular or plural depending on the object of the preposition whether singular or plural)
      1. Most of the students (pl) have attended the mass.
      2. Most of the student (sing) has attended the mass.
      Same thing will happen to some and all. To use the correct verb, always look at the object of the preposition.
