As a parent of multiple children, this is my go to phone...for them. I do want a bit more performance so I'll get a true flagship for me. My previous go-to would have been a used/refurbed older generation pixel. Compromises in the right places for the experience they want at a price I'll gladly swing. PS. Not that you need my validation, but it's no accident you're in your spot. You are so good at these tech reviews. Keep on keepin' on!
I agree, with the go to phone for children, not the being a parent of them part. Depending on the parents I would suggest it for them too, my Mom definitely cares more about the camera in her phone than the speed, the maybe half second speed difference for half the price on the Pixel 3 is very compelling.
As a parent of multiple children, you really musn't get them all their own new phones if they are under 13, and if they are over 15 they should get it themselfs. Also why would you need more performance? The only ever use is if you constantly play new games... Nothing else needs better performance
I'M POSSIBLE No. idk how we even have people who review sneakers that can’t even wear performance shoes for what they were designed for. To plays sports. It’s like reviewing a sports car in the city. Pointless.
I think the intent was more to show that his thoughts reflect the actual oft-advertised starting price model, rather than one of the higher-end variants.

I still think this original entry into the "a" series of Pixels is probably still the best one for its time. I was truly blown away by how much you got for your money with this phone. It was the first non flagship phone I had owned where I genuinely didn't feel like I was missing out by not opting for the flagship. It was everything I needed a smartphone to be, and despite being less than a third the price of the big flagships, its camera and software were pretty much top of the range.
I'm a proud owner of a 3a too. It's currently the most experimental phone. There's so many ways you can modify it. I'm thinking of downloading Ubuntu touch on it as it's not my main phone anymore
I can count the steps from the motor your camera is on from 2:40-2:56 :P. Great quality video and unbiased review as always. Love you mkbhd, keep it up
If you say Phone X people have to think. Not hard, it's obvious, but they have to invest mental space. Make someone draw the conclusion and that conclusion is always more powerful.
I have never had any issues with my 3a in that area; however, I have not been to West Virginia with it. (Parts of West Virginia are problematical for cell reception - period.)
I agree with this. I want them to make a call. It does change based on carrier, but the one plus 3t had call issues. Wish I would have known. I don’t want to buy a phone if I can’t hear someone call me.
The Pixel Visual Core enables third party apps to be able to use HDR+ when taking photos, so what you should have mentioned is how snapchat and instagram pictures will look worse than the regular Pixel 3.
Totally good point. This comment makes me realize that I don't take photos with those apps. I just select to add photos I've already taken in those apps
I used the Pixel 3 XL and the photos taken on instagram and Snapchat were not even close to the ones taken with the camera app. So that visual core was not very noticeable to me.
The only photos I post using the snapchat and instagram camera are dumb selfies with my friends or little snapshots of what I'm doing/eating that really don't mean anything to me so XD
I just bought this phone the other day and I'd have to say I'm happily impressed. I haven't had any issues with slow down or lag the screen is beautiful the battery is great and Google assistant is a lot more helpful than Siri.
I got it too and while many people are saying the 670 is too slow, I've played some heavy games like PUBG at medium settings and it didn't overheat or anything, and battery life is pretty great for me also.

I absolutely love the lighting in your videos. They look awesome!!
SpreckleFloss you shouldn’t really get your children new phones every two years, I’m 15 and I’ve had the same phone for 4 years
I agree, with the go to phone for children, not the being a parent of them part.
Get a cheap 150$ xiaomi phone for your children those are great for the money
Your children are definitely spoiled, have them get it for themselves or get them something more affordable.
Okaay... Travis Scott AJ 1's in the background and you're rocking the AJ1 Defiant. I see you 🧐Someone maybe needs to start reviewing sneakers lol..
I'M POSSIBLE No. idk how we even have people who review sneakers that can’t even wear performance shoes for what they were designed for. To plays sports. It’s like reviewing a sports car in the city. Pointless.

Nice jab from Marques there with the "I PAID for this phone 399" just to remind us that Google didn't send him a review unit.
I think the intent was more to show that his thoughts reflect the actual oft-advertised starting price model, rather than one of the higher-end variants.
Google has been stealing money from consumers. Their products are plagued with a lot of problems. From hardware to RMA. I would not buy this phone even if it's priced for a $100. 2:01, that's where the phone should be at.
Well almost 2 years after I still love my 3a XL. Haven't lost its speed, still taking crispy photos. I am very pleased with it. Will see how long it stays like this.

Awesome, I am really waiting for DSDS support... It seems to drop with Android Q on June 3!
How does the performance feel and from which device you're coming from?
@@pratiksrivastava126 I'm coming from a 2.5 year old S7 and have only positives to say about it. it's fast, not super fast, but it definitely does not feel slow.
@@Lakshin01 what is that?
@@pratiksrivastava126 I've had several phones with the sd835: S8, Moto Z3, Essential, Sony XZ2 Compact. I don't notice a difference in day to day, but also didn't really with my Mi A2 with a sd660. The Moto X4 with the sd630 was much more noticably slower imho
I might recommend it to my mum... She uses her phone for photos, calls, messages and youtube. Think it will be perfect for her.
She'll love the phone and the extra $600 in her pocket 😂
I originally recommended the 3a XL to my mother - and offered to buy one for her for Mother's Day - which she turned down! (Said it would cost ME too much!) She did, however, purchase a refurb/recertified original Pixel for herself last month. Her big thing is pictures.
I was thinking of suggesting this or the samsung galaxy 10e to my mother.
99% of people use their phones for this.
Most people dont do gaming, any mid range phone is good for 99% of things that 99% people do on a regular basis: youtube, Facebook, regular apps and porn. Non of that requires a flagship processor or graphics. You can totally run Candy crush on a mid-range phone.

When you think mkb's videos can't get any better you see the smoothest transition ever 2:12
Wow. That purple back lighting
@@s.m.pravin9738 I might do something similar with mine.

I can count the steps from the motor your camera is on from 2:40-2:56 :P. Great quality video and unbiased review as always. Love you mkbhd, keep it up
no that's the glitch fx.
If you say Phone X people have to think. Not hard, it's obvious, but they have to invest mental space. Make someone draw the conclusion and that conclusion is always more powerful.
You can just imagine the big grins at the pixel marketing department when they came up with it
I love how everybody reviews battery life, camera, software, etc., but nobody reviews call quality and reception.
Who calls people these days???
Because that depends on the carrier lol
I have never had any issues with my 3a in that area; however, I have not been to West Virginia with it. (Parts of West Virginia are problematical for cell reception - period.)
Nobody calls each other anymore grandad
I agree with this. I want them to make a call. It does change based on carrier, but the one plus 3t had call issues. Wish I would have known. I don’t want to buy a phone if I can’t hear someone call me.
The Pixel Visual Core enables third party apps to be able to use HDR+ when taking photos, so what you should have mentioned is how snapchat and instagram pictures will look worse than the regular Pixel 3.
Exactly. Why is not anyone talking about that? Support for 3rd party apps is BIG plus for me.
Boo hoo my social media pictures look slightly worse 😭
The only photos I post using the snapchat and instagram camera are dumb selfies with my friends or little snapshots of what I'm doing/eating that really don't mean anything to me so XD
Imagine pixel coming out with a diss track kill shot of the tech world 🌍
The “a” in pixel 3a stands for
Pixel *3apple took too long to make the second version of the SE*
LMFAO😂😂
People want small size in the SE though
Pretty much why I switched to the 3a. Apple these days is Only focused on bigger profit margins. An SE2 will never be able to match that.
rusty_frame an SE2 will probably be similar but fastest SoC and 4.5”, at the price of the 3aXL
For people who don't get it, 3 is used in Arabic to stand for a harsh a sound
I just bought this phone the other day and I'd have to say I'm happily impressed. I haven't had any issues with slow down or lag the screen is beautiful the battery is great and Google assistant is a lot more helpful than Siri.
I got it too and while many people are saying the 670 is too slow, I've played some heavy games like PUBG at medium settings and it didn't overheat or anything, and battery life is pretty great for me also.
Right on, ken.
Siri straight up told me off yesterday and my battery’s draining

@Idham Ibrahim Samsung has OLED for the last 10 years or so
I think 1080p is enough. I switched from a 480p (Galaxy A3) phone to a 1080p (S5) and its freaking sharp
@Idham Ibrahim Samsung Mid range has been on OLED for almost 5 years now. Besides, most Chinese companies offer mid range phones with Samsung sourced OLED panels these days.
