Hey Lew et al, The wife and I just upgraded to pixel 3a's. I was on an iphone5 before and was iphone only until this week. Over the years I had iphone 1,3, 4 and 5. I was the apple hold out. The rest of the house was on the android train long ago. Gotta say I love this phone so far. Pulled over my data without a hiccup and the fast charging is a revelation. I know for most this seems trivial but after being on the apple train since 07 this its been an interesting change.

I would have to deal with significantly less storage on the phone which I can't really do given my current usage situation. It seems like the omission of sd card slots is nothing more than a way for companies to force us to pay 100$ more for an additional 64GB of storage where as a 128GB SD card costs 25$ and can be moved from phone to phone

But when I was using android, SD cards mechanics were so frustrating and stupid to me, when I try to move apps to SD card, that app's memory would partially move to SD, while the majority of data stays on the device memory... Also, whenever I update some apps, I have to move them to SD card again and again (for some reason apps just come back to the device memory when you update them), so I just stopped doing it. Also, only some of the apps I used were even able to move to SD card... Damn, now I remember why i switched to iPhone, I was so sick of android's shit they served to me, I just miss the days of KitKat and JellyBean sometimes lol... I don't disrespect android users for using android just to be clear, I just find it discusting for me, not everyone else

Asus Zenfone 4 was released in 2017 for similar price and it also has 4GB of RAM and it has glass on the back while Pixel is made of plastic and has no microSD slot. Xiaomi Redmi note 5 also has 4GB for much lower price but it doesn't support fast charging unfortunately
Big thanx for the tutorial, bro! My Nexus 5X died on me and I went ahead and purchased the Pixel 3a from Google. I've had a Google Fi account for about 4 years now and they've never let me down. The 3a was offered at $299 but I got credited for that amount and only had to pay tax and standard shipping, which came out to $39 bucks. I'm waiting for it to arrive (maybe tomorrow) and I'll let you know my findings.

We've been doing that since 2014 TBH. Nowadays, your 300 dollar phone camera will outdo a 2009 digital camera easy. You can even fight older DSLR on certain areas with flagships that focus on camera aspects.
You can get s9+ refurbished at 399 no problem. And while Google software is cool and I really like it, switching from s9 + to pixel 3a is a downgrade in almost every department except camera.

Hey Lew et al, The wife and I just upgraded to pixel 3a's. I was on an iphone5 before and was iphone only until this week. Over the years I had iphone 1,3, 4 and 5. I was the apple hold out. The rest of the house was on the android train long ago. Gotta say I love this phone so far. Pulled over my data without a hiccup and the fast charging is a revelation. I know for most this seems trivial but after being on the apple train since 07 this its been an interesting change.
People just want a Big Screen and a good camera and a faster than their older phone, phone.

I would have to deal with significantly less storage on the phone which I can't really do given my current usage situation. It seems like the omission of sd card slots is nothing more than a way for companies to force us to pay 100$ more for an additional 64GB of storage where as a 128GB SD card costs 25$ and can be moved from phone to phone

But when I was using android, SD cards mechanics were so frustrating and stupid to me, when I try to move apps to SD card, that app's memory would partially move to SD, while the majority of data stays on the device memory... Also, whenever I update some apps, I have to move them to SD card again and again (for some reason apps just come back to the device memory when you update them), so I just stopped doing it. Also, only some of the apps I used were even able to move to SD card...
Damn, now I remember why i switched to iPhone, I was so sick of android's shit they served to me, I just miss the days of KitKat and JellyBean sometimes lol...

not really..... there is plastic and then, there is plastic.. there are lot of type of plastics, for various of use cases... there is ABS, or Nylon which do amazing jobs in certain applications... polycarbonate is not a bad material for a phone.. if its made sturdy enough. the glass backs from phones are so easy to fu.. up.. and if you buy a decent protective case for them, you wont see the fancy glass back, so its really pointless...
Nokia did polycarbonate very well. This Pixel 3a has that same quality polycarbonate. I purchased the 3a last night. So far I'm very satisfied.

Asus Zenfone 4 was released in 2017 for similar price and it also has 4GB of RAM and it has glass on the back while Pixel is made of plastic and has no microSD slot. Xiaomi Redmi note 5 also has 4GB for much lower price but it doesn't support fast charging unfortunately

Big thanx for the tutorial, bro! My Nexus 5X died on me and I went ahead and purchased the Pixel 3a from Google. I've had a Google Fi account for about 4 years now and they've never let me down. The 3a was offered at $299 but I got credited for that amount and only had to pay tax and standard shipping, which came out to $39 bucks. I'm waiting for it to arrive (maybe tomorrow) and I'll let you know my findings.

I just bought this device and I really like it. What got me was the price point. I have always had Nexus and Pixel phones and love the clean software experience. $399? Can't be beaten.
