Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. Hard to explain how awesome that moment was in my life. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold. All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. The Red Fender Stratocaster he used for this concert in the Guitar Collector World is ....PRICELESS
@@ronaldelliott4373 IMHO they proved they didn't need Roger Waters. Probably another reason Waters was so pissed at them. "You can't succeed without me!" "Really? Just watch..."
I have seen Pink Floyd Live 4 times… I saw this same show Syracuse Carrier Dome in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.
This Pink Floyd "PULSE" production from 1994 is my absolute top live album, ever. Magic performance in every single song. Lights, sound, choir... everything superb. Thanks for your reaction :-)
Yes , any of us with any kind of soul loves this man. Mr. Gilmore...what a Master of emotion. He did a great job carrying on with Floyd after Roger quit.
One very interesting thing about Pink Floyd that I always appreciated was the first two albums they did they showed their faces on the albums. But after that they pretty much disappeared from their album covers and every time you heard them or they came through town on a concert tour they were a mystery and you didn't know what they looked like and it was always even more exciting to go see them! In fact David Gilmour on an interview said it was amazing that he was in one of the most famous bands and wealthy yet he could go to a mall and go shopping or to a busy restaurant with his family and nobody knew who he was and he wouldn't get mobbed or asked for autographs!! I always thought that was really cool and showed their humility as just one of the guys or just a normal person!!!
I introduced my mother to Pink Floyd in the 1980s. I played and sang their songs to her on my guitar. She loved it. When I bought a concert tape and was watching it on the TV she was drawn to it and made me stop it. She said you're kidding me - that's what they look like? Yes. She said who is that on guitar? I said David Gilmore. She said he looks more like a plumber than a rock star. I said I suppose that's right, it's not a fashion show. We sat down and watched the whole concert together then and a couple times afterward.
I introduced my son to Pimk Floyd while was still in my belly. He's 39 and we still listen. In fact my little granddaughters started wearing PF"s tee shirts when they were 2 yrs old. It's a generational thing now 🙂
Listen to them live especially the genius of David Gilmore is the closest you get to an out of body experience. They make you feel like you’re just flying above it all!
I love love love Dave Gilmore, he was sent to entertain us from God. His playing is inspirational for me. I first heard this song back in 1994, still love it 30 years later. Rock On Dog!
David always plays the perfect note at the perfect time that communicates directly to your soul. I'm a metal guitarist and appreciate the talented shredders but, David can play one note through two measures that would demand my attention and respect that other guitarists couldn't touch with a string of 32nd notes.
Dave Mustaine’s comment regarding David Gilmour and his guitar playing was outstanding. I don’t remember it word for word but sums up what you texted. Great stuff.
This song will bring light to the darkest day! I can't stop listening to it because my soul needs the nourishment of the brotherhood of humanity, and awarness we are not all alone. In essence, Pink Floyd bring solace of what this world can do but show us there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Great reaction, A Dogg!! Your videos have been great for a long time, and it’s really cool what your explorations of Pink Floyd’s music has become. The soul which David Gilmour’s guitar work exudes is truly emotional. His wife Polly wrote many songs on “The Division Bell” including this one. Never saw these “ Pulse” tour shows which promoted the album, but saw them with family and friends during the previous “ Momentary Lapse of Reason” tour in ‘89 at Veterans Stadium in Philly. Best show ever, of hundreds of live concerts which my 60-plus years have witnessed. Keep up the great work!!
pink Floyd, was one the only bands I know of who were given endless time in a free studio to do what they wanted to do, thus came their first 2 albums. and from this came the wonderful music we have today. Roger waters and David Gulmore are genius.
Sorry to the people that never got to see them in concert. I was lucky/fortunate to see them in concert. They are known for their light show, my seats were five rows from the top. Got to see the light show in full effect, and smoke rises. (hint hint) Lol 😂
Not many Bands sound better Live than they do in the Studio but...this is the Anomaly that is Pink Floyd! These Guys are World Class Musicians through and through! Rest in Peace Richard Wright! I wish the Pink Floyd Run could've continued Forever but it wasn't to be.
I enjoy watching your reaction to the music we old farts listened to in our youth. I still on some days. Thought I would throw out a few I still enjoy you might find intresting! Cat Stevens: Father and son, Moody Blues: Question, Three dog night: Momma told me not to come, Van Morrison: Into the mistic, These are the days,Dr. Hook: Sylvias mother said, Cover of the Rolling Stone, Loggins and Messina: Dannys song.Youngbloods: Darkness darkness be my pillow, Rain song. Again I think it is fun seeing how you seem to enjoy the music!
The Master, David Gilmour gets more emotion from a guitar that anyone else. Genius is an overused word but not in this case. If I could back in time and go to any performance of any band, it would be Pulse.

Yes we absolutely do..
Absolutely! I listen to Floyd every day!
David Gilmour doesn’t play the guitar, he is the guitar !
As good as he sings, all he has to do is play the guitar and I know exactly what he I'd feeling and saying!
This is my first time really listening to it in its entirety and I am sucked in completely .pink Floyd is amazing..
This is classic floyd. The entire pulse concert is great!
