The most heartbreaking line ever written.
"The child has grown, the dream is gone."
Exactly. It gets me every single time.
I wanna cry so true.
that and whole Mother song. that one (although i really like it) is scary af...
Pink Floyd are deeper than the Mariana trench, cooler than an iceberg in a river of liquid nitrogen, smoother than a quantum stabilized atom mirror and more Zen than 1,000 Buddhist monasteries. Glad you enjoyed this performance and what is widely regarded as one of the best solos of all time :)
What he said.
You worked so hard to say something so lame
@@Alundrahs It was very easy and came naturally to me, I've written similar many times. The fact you think it's lame is about as much use as an ashtray on the international space station. Save your limited intellect to troll someone else...
@@steveparker8065 Hello Steve. You're descriptive of Pink Floyd is well put!! If anyone has been listening to them as long as I have, since Emily Plays, they would certainly get where you are coming from. I do. 👍
@@neilphelan145 Hi Neil and thank you. I wasn't born until a few years after Piper at the Gates was released, but I do love it. I got into Floyd in the 80s as a teen. Lots of good old classic psychedelic tracks on that album and Syd was still there back then, I think he wrote See Emily Play if I remember correctly. Floyd enable the philosopher in all of us :)
Pink Floyd is an experience. One does NOT listen to Pink Floyd you experience Pink Floyd. I tell all reactors that they need to take the time to do an entire album rather than a single song. Each song on their albums is a page in the story each album tells. This one is from The Wall and this song is the point where the character Pink is falling into his depression and unable to get up and perform. The chorus is sung by David Gilmour, who is a guitar god, the verses were originally sang by Roger Waters and he was fired from the band so in this one Richard Wright who plays the keyboards. So do yourself a favor and take the time to do an entire album. You can do just the audio and lyrics and the album will truly make sense. You’ll thank me for it.
Waters wasn’t fired. Not really. He quit, or at least he announced that the band was retiring. He’d announced earlier that he’d fired Rick Wright. David Gilmour and Nick Mason had other ideas, and made plans to continue with Wright and without Waters, who sued them to make them quit, saying the “Pink Floyd” name was his. He lost.
You’re right about it being an experience. I didn’t realize until I saw them live that the music is the greatest part but only part of the experience, along with video, lights, and props, moving objects, etc. Like nothing else I’ve seen.
That would make for a bad reaction video business formula.
But I agree, that is the best way to experience Pink Floyd.
Bottom line: Put a Pink Floyd album on and don't touch pause until the mthrfcker finishes
Amen to that!!!! All their albums need to be listened to from the first song to the last!!!!
@@DazzleMonroe FACTS!
I was given this concert on VHS for Christmas in 1994. I had been in love with Pink Floyd since I was 8 hearing my older brother play Dark Side of the Moon.
Dave Gilmour plugs his guitar into his soul not an amplifier, and takes you away with him.
Listen to the albums through headphones.
Listen to the concerts.
Let your soul go free and join us down the rabbit hole....
You have just heard what is arguably the greatest live rock guitar solo of all time. But another performance that rivals it is Sorrow from this same concert. Check it out; it's epic!
YES! 👍🏼🎶🔥
Arguably, yes.
In addition to Sorrow, the solo at the end of Fat Old Sun from Live in Gdansk is right up there too.
Watched to the end… and yes, this solo is WIDELY regarded by many as the greatest solo of all time….
The first time Pink Floyd stepped into a recording studio together, a label exec walked up to them, and handed them a giant book titled "The Correct Way to Make a Hit Rock and Roll Song."
Pink Floyd said "Thank you," flipped through a few random pages, then tossed the book out the window, and set about reinventing Rock music, from the ground up.
Come in here dear boy, have a cigar, you're gonna go far...
@@juliepiemonte1281
🤣
This is my all-time favorite guitar solo, by one of the best guitarists ever, David Gilmour. The light show looks futuristic by 2022 standards, yet this concert happened 28 years ago in 1994.
Is "keyrat" a Far Cry 4 reference? If so then hell yeah!!!
I saw them in the 70’s
And that was 14 years after the song was released!!!!
@@michaelfoster5577 You are correct.
The Pompeii concert is pretty epic, too.
My man, this rabbit hole goes very deep. It will be fun watching you discover Pink Floyd.
"Leo Fender invented the Stratocaster. God created David Gilmore to play it." - Unknown
"Guitars want David Gilmore for Christmas." - Unknown
"David Gilmore can do more with ONE NOTE than most players can do with the entire fretboard." - Dave Mustaine, Megadeth

@@Patricia-nm7xe Ugh, that keeps happening. 😖
So true! He played the entire solo in B-minor just changing cords but it’s a masterpiece. Nobody can make a guitar sound as good as David Gilmour.
"pulse 1994" P.F. last concert played 14 days in a row. saw this 5 times inside & outside. Play ANY song from this and you will not be disappointed. SORROW" next. Stage: 200 tons ( moved by 53 semis), 200,000 watts of power, 128 speakers. FAA clearance needed for outside shows. Disco ball is a slam to music critics for saying they won't make it cause they don't play dance music. Final song " run like hell" and watch 200,000 watts of power in action. You have no idea how deep this "rabbit hole" is . " Welcome to the Machine" " wish you where hear album.
David Gilmours solo in this song is considered to be one of the best, and most recognized solos in music history!!🎸 Please continue with Pink Floyd!!🎸🎶💜🎸
This was the band I went to see when I snuck out of the house and hitchhike to their concert! I got in sooooo much trouble but it was worth it
I hope you pay your kids respect if/when they do the same thing to you.
Yep, that would totally be worth it, Jon Pates! I wish I had been able to see them live, one of my regrets in life.
Good for you!
These are some of the best musicians from the 70’s, I love their music. You should check out more of their music if you like this one.
Ever
David Gilmour is otherworldly. There is no other explanation. Great reaction!
And a beautiful.man.
The man with "The child in his eyes" Gina, which was written about him by Kate Bush. x
You have no idea how Deep that rabbit hole goes.. 😆😂😆.. lot of history there.. but please do more
This DVD (Pulse) is the most amazing thing to watch. Turn out the lights. You don't even need to drink or get high for this band to take you to another place.
Great song. You’re starting out at the top. Best guitar solo ever. Thanks for this one.
I agree. Best guitar solo 🎸
There's load s good as. Dogs, pigs I could go on n on. Soycd pt6-9.like I say. On n on
This music is supposed to make you close your eyes and let the song carry you away to wherever you want 🙋🏻♀️
(Of course, don’t close any eyes during the PULSE concert, or you’ll miss half the trip! 😉)
Blessed to have witnessed you experience this!! Spiritual awakening ❣️😘
YES! The entire Pulse concert is on video, the "show" is worth watching, but the music will reach your soul! Awesome reaction so happy you enjoyed this 1 song from the concert.💯
best band of all times 😎👍 next one from Pink Floyd - On hte turning away ( live to the Delicate sound of Thunder concert 1988 ) 🎸🎶
This album came out in 1973 ~ the guys were all in their late 20's ~ That was nearly 50 years ago!!! The guys were probably close to 60 in this concert! Great Music Never Dies!!!!!
This song is on the album, "The Wall", which was released in November, 1979. The "Dark Side of the Moon" album was released in 1973. But, you make a good point, Gilmour was rockin' this at 48 years old.
The best way to properly listen to Pink Floyd is to put on one of their albums and listen to it all the way through. It puts your mind in a completely different place. They had their share of hit songs, but just listening to a song out of the context of the album it came from is less than the complete experience.
That said, my recommendations for other songs by Pink Floyd are : "Breathe," "The Great Gig in the Sky," "Time," "Wish You Were Here," and "Have a Cigar."
Yes! Listening to a random song by Pink Floyd, is like reading a random chapter, of a great novel.
I would add dogs and shine on you crazy diamond. But all need to be enjoyed in context of the album from start to finish. Then the rabbit hole of the bootleg live recordings from 72,73,75 and 77 where albums were performed in entirety or like in 72 the entire dark side album was performed before it was released in its early form.
Listening to LEGENDS like this will make your channel grow Can't go wrong with music Legends
Comfortably Numb...Money...Another Brick In the Wall....Come On You Crazy Diamond are some of their popular songs . Plus many more
Another flash from the past and i love hearing it! Pink Floyd was so artistic, they saw music in a way other artists didn’t. Watched it all, as it deserved. Thanks Adogg!
Pink Floyd... excellent! Grew up with their music. Love this song!🎶💯🔥💖💖💖 One day, my older brother painted the album cover for Dark Side of the moon on his bedroom wall. He was a really good artist, however, I knew my dad was going to snap when he saw it. This song brings back memories of the 70's like they were yesterday... great times.😎💓
Back in O.C. Calif when I was 27 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"...
I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Scott Page” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 200 shows I’ve seen.
All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. The Red Fender Stratocaster he used for this concert in the Guitar Collector World is ....PRICELESS
Their song, “Time,” this same Pulse concert and “Us and Them” are beautiful.
Have loved this band since I first heard them playing Arnold Layne 1967, went right out and got my first Floyd album "Piper at the gates of Dawn." I believe " Dark side of the Moon" is just something way beyond brilliant. (In my humble opinion.)
Best enjoyed lying in a dark room, can's on, sipping on a smooth single malt, or better still, a little bowl of something, your toally immersed, in a feeling of absolute delight, transported to a higher "etheral" place, got to be the nearest thing to an "out of body experience," whilst still alive. Simply awesome.
@Dennis Smith I couldn't agree with you more about 'the little bowl of something'. I was well and truly having a out of body experience when hearing Dark Side Of The Moon for the first time with the little extra help. Blown away and still am
@@josephinepeery6938 When you know, you know. xxx
Try to check out more Pink Floyd songs: SORROW and also RUN LIKE HELL, both live from the same Pulse concert in 1994.
You have just witnessed PERFECTION!!!!!!
A Dogg: "This has got to be one of the greatest guitar solos ever!"
The entire UK: "By George! I think he's got it!!"

Qualifier: one of??
THEE
@@Patricia-nm7xe Well, it's not IMPOSSIBLE that in the far distant future someone may come close, though none ever have in Human history thus far... but we respectfully say "one of..." just in case. Or if Gilmour is reincarnated! lol
David Gilmour is the GREATEST guitarist of all time. From rhythm to the solos. He nails it all. Not one second do you get bored or zone out. You listen to every single note all the way through, and then you almost cry! Some do. That's the power of incredibly well written music!
Heard this song a million times and never got as many goosebumps as I did watching/hearing this performance!! Damn. Crying now. ❤️ great reaction *subscribed*
From this same concert I recommend "Sorrow", "Money", "Another Brick In The Wall", and " One of these Days" to totally blow your mind
My 4 picks from this concert too
I saw that concert, I recommend every tracks 😂😘
Watched the whole video. Someone put you onto some good stuff. Floyd is Legendary
My ultimate favorite band...The Pulse Concert was the absolute best ever...Thanx for great reaction, Peace
They have many amazing songs..unique sounds, and put on a great show live and the lighting 👍
Shine on You Crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd for another amazing solo
Same concert...Coming Back to Life, Wish You Were Here, Sorrow, Run Like Hell, High Hopes...what the hell, just do the entire concert!
I love, love, love your reaction to Pink Floyd! I think their era of music is one of the best and most talented. You can't not feel anything when listening to this song.
I've watched this whole concert so many times and it's such a trip. Never fails to make me cry from sheer awe at one point or another. From their visuals as well as their majestic music. I hope you'll kick back and enjoy the whole thing sometime, I reckon you'll love it too.
Check out Pink Floyd's epic song Echoes (1971) next!
It's 23 minutes long, so it's basically a rock symphony.
It's meant to capture the feeling of an underwater adventure, traveling to the depths of the ocean and then climbing back out again.
love the song. love the reaction. i recommend “Time”, “Money”, and “Wish you were here” but if you listen to anything else Pink Floyd, TIME is my absolute favorite song
Definitely do Time and Money!!!
This is the very first song I ever heard by Pink Floyd. I was hooked. I won't ever forget where and I remember closing my eyes listening to that sweet guitar solo. Growing up wasn't allowed to listen to this kind of music. But in school learning to drive a semi, I was introduced to the best music EVER! Thank you for your reaction(it was about the same as mine when I first heard it)
Oh a man after my own heart!! Pink Floyd is my favorite band. If you want an eerie song? Play Echoes. It is 26 min long. I play it on halloween. lol
Love them so much. Definitely an experience. Yes sir go down the Pink Floyd rabbit hole....PPLLLLLEEEEAAASSSSEEEE!!! Yes I did watch the whole videos!!
My sisters favorite. Passed away 3-22-21. So this week was hard af!!! Played this at her funeral........but not the live version of course
My deepest condolences. I lost my only son 6 years ago and tonight I have been listening to songs we both loved and some of the songs we played at his funeral and just missing him so much. He was 31 when he died.
@@sharilynbratton6476 as they say a parent should never have to bury their kids. And glad my mom lives right next door. So we can lean on each other when we have bad days. Have a blessed evening!!
So sorry for your loss.
There's a reason it's #2 on my list of all-time favorites.... Only second behind "Amazing Grace". Your reaction at the guitar solo is how I feel every time I listen to the entire song. It's haunting, yet calming.....When I pass, I want Amazing Grace to be sung, and the guitar solo from this played as they lower me into the ground........
"The child is grown, the dream is gone" THE best line of any song EVER. And my favourite song of all time. I have been listening to Pink Floyd for 35 years ever since hearing "Hey You" (The Wall) for the first time which stopped me dead in my tracks. They have been part of my life, then, now, and always will be. Keep enjoying them Adogg. x
Dark side of the moon and The Wall are my favorite albums. They worth checking out in my opinion
I got to see the 1994 Division Bell tour in Atlanta. It was and will remain the best concert I've ever experienced. Pink Floyd is an entire vibe and great for just losing yourself for a while.
I saw them in Clemson, SC same tour. Still have my Tshirt!
Learning to fly, breathe (in the air), hey you, wish you were here, money, another brick in the wall, shine on you crazy diamonds, the great gig in the sky, and many more. Definitely one of the greatest bands…
One of the best bands ever. They are deep. Check out the Wall, Dark side of the Moon, Saucer full of Secrets. You won’t be disappointed!
High Hopes (from the same Pulse concert)... Another phenomenal soaring solo in that one, but with a lap steel guitar.
I have seen Pink Floyd Live 4 times… I saw this same show in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION…
I have seen Pink Floyd 4 times. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.
My favourite Floyd album is "A Saucerful of Secrets"...very different from today's music. For me the best number from it is "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun". The complexity of their material needs to be experienced in a dimly-lit room, lying down, no headphones, volume at 8. I love this band.
Sorrow and Coming Back To Life from this Pulse concert is pure epicness.
I saw them live three times, 1988, 1989, and 1994. It was like an awakening experience.
My favorite band of all times. This concert is when they were older men, still great
Dating myself but I use to work at Kmart and everyday I'd walk past these pink shirts with Floyd the barber from The Andy Griffith Show on them. Took me a couple of months to get it. PINK FLOYD 😂😂. Great rabbit hole to go down.
That was David Gilmore on the guitar. Highly ranked guitarist. Thanks for the journey
Oh, You discovered Pink Floyd. Attention: that's not just a Band, that's a whole Universe!
Like the Dire Straits, this is a band of "to the bone musicians". Like them, their lead guitar player (David Gilmore) is a true virtuoso and like them, Pink Floyd has released many absolutely timeless masterpieces:
Their Albums "The Wall" (it's a music movie, this song is part of it), "Wish You where here" and especially the "Dark Side of the Moon" belongs to the best Albums in history of Music. You're certainly be amazed, discovering more Pink Floyd Songs! I'm curious to see Your reactions, eg. to "Learning to fly" or "Wish You where here" or "Money".
Btw: have You ever thought about recording a reaction to a full movie? I know that would take a lot of time,
but trust me: "THE WALL" would totally be worth it!
I could not agree more! Do it - watch the movie with us!
Don't leave out the album, "Animals."
My two favorite guitarists- Mark Knopfler and David Gilmour and they couldn’t have more different styles. But both can make their guitars sing.
Breathe, High Hopes, pretty much everything else that has already been mentioned. Several of the albums really need to be heard from beginning to end as a whole. They tell a story.
Each of their albums are a journey… to truly experience and appreciate.. you need to start at the beginning and listen to the end!!
I was fortunate to see Pink Floyd in concert. I'll never forget April 10 1975 in Seattle.
Please take me back.
A Dogg. I’ve been a Pink Floyd fan since 1968. Watching you makes my goosebumps last longer. Thank you. Gary from Texas.
In an interview released in the 80s, Waters said that much of the song comes from something that really happened one evening when, in order to allow him to perform in Philadelphia, the doctor gave him a sedative for a severe stomach ache, which had probably caused by nerves. On the stage, his hands were numb and his vision blurred, but none of this derailed the crowd, who continued to dance and sing. And it was out of this that one of the main themes of The Wall came about: the disconnect between the public and the band.
“That was the longest two hours of my life, trying to do a show when you can hardly lift your arm.
Awesome song.. my favorite.
Pink Floyd is constantly being listened to on earth. The only band to ever achieve that. How amazing is that!
Been listening to Pink Floyd many years. My favorite group. I prefer their studio work for just listening, but for the true Pink Floyd experience you have to attend a concert. Their shows are epic.
Welcome to the Machine is Pink Floyd's best song, imo. I heard it at 9 years old and got hooked on Floyd's pink music
Was blessed to see Pink Floyd back in '73 on their "Dark Side of the Moon" tour...
"I love when they stop singing and have those LITTLE solos...". With knowing what comes at the end, this made me chuckle. 😁
I cannot even tell you how much I love to watch someone listen to David Gilmour play this for the first time.
I was in my late teens when this record came out, and Pink Floyd was already long since my favorite band.
I and all of my friends instantly identified this solo as one of the best instrumental compositions of all time.
I have listened to it...IDK, countless thousands of times, and I never get tired of it.
The fact that over 40 years later, someone who grew up listening to entirely different music can hear this and recognize it for the great music it is, confirms what we all know.
But more importantly, it makes me so happy and feel such joy to see someone else feel what I feel when I listen to David playing.
What makes us all the same on the inside is so much stronger and more important than any superficial difference between us.
I loved pink Floyd they could take you floating away to places you have never been before. Its like being on another planet! .
They are brilliant. The volume of the fantastic music they have written is astounding. But...I am a simple woman...I still think that Time is the most significant song they ever wrote.
They have many good songs!!! hope you do more, you won't be disappointed
It's wonderful to see others appreciate such an amazing band that take you into an ethereal world and an experience that never leaves you
Watch "one of these days " from the PULSE concert.. david gilmour plays the steel guitar on his lap.. plus a bass solo.. you wont be disappointed.. but has to be from the pulse concert... any of the songs from the pulse concert are amazing
Best live guitar solo ever.
Have a look at the concept album Animals.
Wish you were here
Dark side of the moon
The Wall
Etc.
The Pulse live concert is epic.
My favorite band! They seemed to impress you too! 👍
Went to their concert in '94 in New Orleans...OMG!! It was great! There was so many 'toking' and blowing it at us! My little brother and I were...Comfortably numb! Listen to Animals by Pink Floyd!
Gilmour's solo here is epic! The tone is haunting. The phrasing speaks a language of the existential emotions from the trials and tribulations of the human experience. Monumental!
Omg...Here it is!! David's solo in this is beyond epic proportions!! I loved your reaction!! ❤️❤️❤️
Pink Floyd is Legendary! Formed in London in 1964, Pink Floyd is one of the greatest Rock band of all time! They were active as a band from 1964 to 2006 when they did their final performances. Their actual music category is Progressive Rock, and they've sold over 400 million albums worldwide!
Beautiful, isn't it? And deep. One of my favs! Watching you jive to this is icing on the cake!!! Do "Shine on you Crazy Diamond".
This song is from "The Wall" soundtrack. The Wall was a great movie with many great Pink Floyd songs. Thanks for reminding me, I think I will go watch it.
I was lucky to watch them live at Portugal (1994) that Concert sure is still in my heart and my memory. To listen to Pink Floyd is to embark on an exciting journey. As always love your reactions, stay safe. Regards from Portugal
Listen to it in quad!!!! 🎉
And how it was written to listen too!!!
Most unbelievable thing you’ll ever hear!!!!
When I was a teenager 40something years ago, I had this song on repeat for months.
Easily the best (and most out-of-body) marriage of music and imagery ever created by a popular music group.
The entire concert is a work of peak-level artistry, and not only overwhelms the senses, but lingers in the back of one’s brain afterwards, like a haunting.
That solar eclipse that opens the big guitar solo here, alone, is enough to silence a crowd into a state of pure awe.
Pure magnificence.
This is my partners favourite so g and wants it played at his funeral. We had such amazing music in the 70’s and 80’s and we took it for granted that we would always have great music but unfortunately that is not so. Thank god for UA-cam and the old video’s that take us right back to that time way back when. Thanks for sharing.
Sometimes being "comfortably numb" becomes the only way to survive. Pink Floyd helped me through my traumatic childhood. Their music is pure poetry. Lyrically enigmatic and majestically given to us. As a musician- they bring me to tears often.
You want more suggestions for Pink Floyd? Here’s my list …everything.
Notch up the volume, this ballad is a masterpiece!
Song is from the movie the wall. The Wall? What we build inside to protect us from ? life? This song is about Pinky, calling his wife while hes on tour, hes a musician. As the operator dials his home, a man answers, she calls again, a man answers. he slides to the floor, and up goes the wall. This is when His manager and roadies find him in his hotel room, obliviated drugs and alcohol. The? hello, hello hello is there anybody in there? effects are him on dope and hes just wasted. They give him a shot of? adrenailine and bring him back. The movie is about Pinky, and his life, and what finally made him build the wall. Watch it, but tween us? some Magic mushrooms wont hurt the film. But when dude answers the phone? it is deep. Peace bro.
I wish I could go back in time and experience Pink Floyd for the first time. Yes, EXPERIENCE. It’s musical emotion. You don’t hear the Floyd. You feel it.
Pink floyd the wall from beginning to end. Masterpiece!
