The key for succesfully using one length clubs for golfers with average swing speeds is to start swapping out the longer hybrids for irons. I'd say most normal golfers could skip the 4i and 5i and use the 4h and 5h instead. Tom Wishon builds what many consider to be the best single length set of clubs available and he is very outspoken about this. I do agree about the wedges though. My one length setup is 4h,5h,6-PW and then regular wedges after that. Curious about adding a 3H in there too.
i use cobra forged tec 4i-60 degree (GW/56/60) and after 4-5 rounds coming from standard clubs i am completely used to it. ive been coming down from 14hc to 8 at present after 7 months using them... mainly because i hit them very consistently.... for reference had mizuno 919 forged beforehand. Wedges are completely fine... if anything 4i i'd like slightly longer.
I understand the concept behond one length, but I just cannot accept that it should continue into wedges! As you said, it is all about FEEL and you want to be closer to the ball... I also hit a number of wedge shots very upright...not with one length! I also struggle with the concept nuch beyond 5 iron... you just need the extra length to generate enough club head speed (unless you have your speed obviously 🙄). If I went one length I would restrict it to 8 iron - 6 iron 😅 it's about all I could manage!
Totally respect your approach. Length of the club playes a bigger impact then the added mass in the longer irons. (KE = 1/2*m*v^2) Where KE is kinetic energy, m is mass and v is velocity. Ut still for me I want and need the swing to be more or less the same as it helps me as very average player the think less about all variables that there are already in each golf shot. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
I think if you get it all cut to the 7i fit to your wrist to floor measurement you might be surprised at how easy it actually is to use the wedges since the 7i length isn't actually that long when fitted to you
I have used them for 5yrs starting with forged one length 1st gen. Now into forged tec (23) model. All my wedges 52, 56 and 60 are 1inch shorter (snake bite) and i love them. My old set i used volkeys bent 3° up and lengthened to 9 iron agian loved them. The snake bites are a little lite compared to the volkeys which the only change for me. The 60 i really only use out of green side bunkers or i need to go high to get to the green and im still 30yrds or closer. 56 is almost always chips and pitches mostly chips. 52 chips and pitches and a few fulls but i go to the gap in the regular forged tec (48°) for most 1/2, 3/4 and full swings. Even though it says gap i consider it a pitching wedge i hit it normally about 120-125 but can get it to 130-133ish. My miss is a shoulder pull and i dont hit right very often at all but i can fade if needed but i try to play straight or draw. I love them my hightest 1 length is a 19° hybrid half a inch over and a forged tec x 5 iron that is cut a half inch short forge tex x 6 iron cut to 7 iron. 7 iron to gap is forge tec 7 iron length. Driver 3wood and 5 wood are regular length. A good mixed set for me. I'm getting older (54) so I need a little more with hybrid, 5 and 6. Gaps are good and i havent checked my handicap in a while but i shoot about 83-89 on par 72 course. I like 6400 yrds but 6800ish is about the limit now, more than that its hard to not go after it on the tee box and i just get sloppy on back nine from fatigue. It's 15 clubs in the bag but if needed I would pull the 5wood for tourny or league which I don't do anymore really. I try to go out and practice or play once a week. I'm getting knee replacement in both knees so hoping will get out more after surgeries.
Ive read comments on different channels about One Length Clubs, Ive noticed the "reviewers" don't use them as they are designed......Of course you not going to get the result wanted if you don't use them as INTENDED and DESIGNED.....NuMb NuTs 🤦♂
I’m a little better than scratch and play one lengths 5-lob wedge It’s not hard once you get used to it and has a lot of advantages around the green I can hit ridiculously high shots when I want to
did you ever go in and get your one lengths custom fit to fix your yardage gapping issues from your video 9 months ago? if not, you should and it would make for great content for a new video! and i’m very curious about it too
I've got a 60 and 56 love them get them to stop fast, I am the same though on my sim gw to 7 iron bang on 6 to 5 iron dog shit can't get no more then 165 with the 5 iron because of the spin. I tried my mate ping i500 6 today ibwas getting averages of 165 but a pure was 180 carry not sure what do do as I love the one lengh
I've looked a lot into one length irons. I'm gonna build a set. My build requires all 39" clubs. I think I'll end up with a shorter gap, sand and lob wedge. 39" for 4-PW. I'm keeping all the one length irons the same head weight. It's gonna be fun. Definitely want to build a 39 inch driver with the lie angle corrected and the grip weighted up to increase swing speed. Can't wait to see how that goes. If I could hit 330 yards total with that config. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. That would be something.
Play OL’s 3h and 4-60°. Encountered many/all of the issues you’ve discussed but after 18 months chopping and changing between models, lengths, lie angles, lofts, I’m finally happy with it. Why would you make golf harder for yourself by using different length clubs 😅
@@jimi__god1829 This is hard to find for sure. I have been struggling for a while too and finally have it at a comfortable level bad 🤣 as the rest of my game as I even had the yips a period. Even made a vid about that part in my game. I haven't found one which is good enough. Bryson DeChambeau is of course the best but you need to take in account his extreme upright lie angle. When I find a good instruction with useful tips I will for mention this on my channel. Let me also know when you have found a good one length wedges instruction. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
@@jimi__god1829the longer wedges allow you to swing faster without having to try to swing through the ball. Weight 65% lead foot, feet close together.. you can look at one method by Daniel Grieves (watch “This Gold Lesson Changed my LIFE!) then you can try the drivey method mentioned in this video where Bryson has a video about how to swing like him and he rocks with stable triangle set up that does not have much wrist break (rick does it similar on his first shot) and comes from lats and a little bit of legs.. the Grieves method is great for finesse and confidence and maximum spin and stopping power
Of course the wedges don’t work for you because you’re choking up to the bottom of the grip.. that’s not how they’re intended. The other guy used them corrected and you had problems simply because you choked up instead of trying to feel it out full length.
They absolutely work, no offense but.. you were hitting wedges like rubbish…choppy, stiff, uncaring. I use 61-4H in one length (5 and 4 are a little more difficult to learn, I stop at 5i (bent to 20deg) for ease of speed with longer clubs past my 5i 220y carry). Also, all the lie angles are supposed to be bent the same (according to Mike Schy - who I talked to, maybe you should schedule a call lesson with him and understand the actual theory behind it all) for me was 65 degrees, Bryson is 70. May help your contact and control. I went from hacker to 13 handicap in less than a year. I also swing one length and I'm athletic but come on, your guest proved them to be fantastic! It does take getting used to but how long would you give it when switching from something you’ve been trying at for years is where the patience seems to be lopsided. Also, you are tall so perhaps your one length irons should have been even longer than a 7. I’m 5’11” and I play 37.75” in everything based on recommendations by Graves Golf, the Moe Norman swing experts. Also, you should not compare one aspect of golf to Bryson’s success, and not the other. He is mostly a single plane player (but not like moe norman), and he uses one length wedges and irons. While the two plane swinger can use one lengths, you can’t expect results to compare with Bryson in any way. Single length irons are about consistent striking and a single set up and can be two-plane swings but its just mastering any other golfers swing or your own creation for whatever length. Lie adjustments take care of distance and you can fiddle with ball placement for height (forward for higher, and back for lower flights)

I play Cobra one lengths and I hit my 56° out of the bunker phenomenal better than I’ve ever hit any other wedge out of the bunker

same!
Any videos of your swing/technique

Great video guys. My friend plays them and says exactly the same. Works for some clubs not for others. As for wedges. No Way.
Exactly!
