The team finally catches the target and acquires the briefcase, but they are betrayed.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
John Frankenheimer directed this $20 million international action thriller from a screenplay by Richard Weisz (pseudonym for David Mamet) and J.D. Zeik. In Paris, Irish organizer Deidre (Natascha McElhone) assembles a team to grab a mysterious briefcase from criminals. They are never told who hired them or the true identity of their targets. The hired specialists: Former CIA officer Sam (Robert De Niro), former Euro intelligence agent Vincent (Jean Reno), German electronics expert Gregor (Stellan Skarsgard), driver Larry (Skip Sudduth), and British weapons wrangler Spence (Sean Bean). After a Seine shootout, the action moves to the South of France, with a recon mission in Cannes, and a chase that brings everyone to Nice. Inevitable betrayals ensue, along with more pursuits.

As I live in Nice, I can tell you how difficult filming this chase must have been, especially the parts in the old town!
But it's also improbable. Such narrow streets, the fish market is full of fish but no one gets killed?
Nice
And to think those cars were sedans. I cannot IMAGINE how crazy maneuvering those cars in those streets must've been a hard MULTIPLE days work for those stunt drivers. They really earned their pay
Gregor F**Ked us.
Awesome line from an awesome man.
im hit, take the case
Naughty Grego
2:43
Nice reflection of the flames on his leather jacket
I always read this as 'nice chase' and not Nice chase, and I'm like, "Yeah, it's pretty nice."
Lol it’s both actually, nice and Nice lol😂
LOL
no movie chase ever counts unless someone runs into a fruit cart
It's so funny, I take a shortcut home down an alley where a greengrocer has his shop, and he always twitches and looks very nervous when I pull out and drive towards him.
True. And why huge panes of glass are always being delivered in the vicinity is beyond me.
I forget which movie it was, but the fruit cart had a “Siskel & Ebert Fruits” sign on the cart, which was of course wiped out during the car chase.
this is where Minh Le stole the gun sounds for Counter-Strike mod
"Whats in the case? Is it heavy?is it explosive? Is it chained to some unlucky blokes wrist?"
Nobody does car chase scenes like John Frankenheimer ,,,, Nobody !
Check out the film he directed for BMW. Amazing
Rip John
I mean
William Friedkin is definitely number one
Ya know
French Connection
To live die in LA
Waaaay better than Fast & Furious.
Ah I see you're a man of culture as well.
No 30 kilometers runways..
Fast and furious is for stupid children.
Gregor is a badass
This film is so beautifully constructed and edited in the old-fashioned way. This entire sequence is jump-cutting (if that's the right term). They don't do many stunts. It is all stitching a suit. And we don't even have time to ask questions? For example, why is everyone betraying one another? Do they all have a death wish? They found Stellan; can't they find him again and tear out his fingernails before axing off his limbs? And while we are at it, why is a small explosive device needed to get the case? Would not a hatchet on the wrist of a dead man do?
I do like the bouillabaisse sequence. And when they ram the case car, two questions: 1. No deaths? It's PG for the pros to get their throats slit but not a boulevardier to die over his noisette? And 2. How many actually died in the stunt? Looks dangerous.
hatchet is messy and you have to have a degree in butchery to do it right (one blow/one cut)
Don’t kill me guys but I prefer this movie a lot more than a Heat
That's because it's better.
We'd have to be a TX-101 Terminator Terminator to do that
Both are great, so if one tickles your fancy more than the other, so be it.
I can sort of see that, but the Heat shootout scene is still better.
Gregor - The gift that just kept giving
Love this classic scene, but let’s be honest, the back up car with like 6 guys, they’d all have been dead before they even got out of the car lol😂, especially with that much firepower they went up against.
that's really a nice chase, indeed.
Of all the weapons in this movie coffee was my favorite..
I like how Roberts character leaves his Colleage standing in the middle of the road in view of the blast while he takes cover loll
Gregor put on c4 in the case and exit lol = )
Just realized that Gregor's whole plan relies upon events going down nearly exactly as they did with him being able to do a switcheroo while everyone is distracted from a firefight. There's several dozen ways this could have gone down instead.
I'd say he sees an opportunity. He wants to take the case for himself so he has a dummy ready to switch. If no opportunity arose during the actual theft, maybe one would later. It played out that he had an opportunity, so he took it.
The bars in pipette were best.
Gregor should have used a better paint.
I remember, and I lost you 😂 y'all were pissed
Faster! Faster! These are very valuable ice skates.
At this point, why would any fruitseller in a major European city set up shop at street level? They have to know a chase scene eventually is going to come along and wipe out their livelihood. Go for the upper level on a mall, man.
But the fish!
We can see young and still slim Baron Harkkonen here...)) Chase must flow
Fu a Volunte i believe means fire at will
What was on his hand? Is that paint? Explosive residue?
Silver paint. Gregor had to buy an identical case, but it wasn't silver, so he painted it.
I'd say very nice!!)
Where is Gregor?
Gregor f**ked us
more expendable innocent bystanders ...
1:31
What
Gregor..Lol
Malette de chloroquine
But what was in the case?
was ice skates lol
I don't remember.
LMFAO
McGuffin
Something that leads to the IRA calling a truce or something...
Are the people with the case French or Russians?
eastern european former soviet state. most likely info on a WMD most likely not nuclear, from Soviert Union a left over. IRA mightve wanted that for a terror op. Im glad they never said what it was. hearing that it was a nuke, wouldve been so cringy. Another nuke movie like bad company
these same ppl lecture us about gun violence and abolishing the 2nd Amendment...
You realize the people getting shot in this movie didn't die right? So you have no point?
It's a film, dummy.
Those same bank robbers do ?
America💩
@@Steeveriffic These movie stars like DeNiro took part in making actions movies like this which definitely are responsible for a big part of the fascination with guns that drives the 2nd Amendment support.
