- I got to try the Perkons HD-01 by Erica Synths for the first time. A solid modern drum machine that can go pretty hard. Great hands on drum machine.

The voiceover was recorded with a new Soyuz Ambisonics mic, and the Zoom F6 that I borrowed from Perfect Circuit, which can record in Ambisonic mode.

being a drummer, and having a dfam and a tr-8, this thing is amazing... and feels like it would complete my percussionist gas dream.
This unit is especially awesome for hands on dialing in some killer sounds even if you were to use it aside from any kind of step sequencing. I would have endless uses for this gear for sure!!! 🔥👊🧡👍🔥
Love that intro amimation! 😅
Thanks Jason! 🙏🏼
Amazing drone machine too.
you always find a cool groove and i need to pick up a t-shirt from you
It was fun to play with at this event. Also enjoyed the Soma pulsar that was there as well.
That was a great beat mr cuckoo 👏🏽👏🏽
Sick❤
Only one bar loop?
If there's multiple can you sequence them?
Can you do independent track lengths for polyrhythms?
This machine would be dope for gabber.
Fawned kver this for a while. Found there are better much cheaper drum machines that can create a broader range of sounds and tuning. This is boutique up selling at its finest.
Blast beats is quite a cool device.
Good stuff,This and the Pulsar 23 have been on my bucket list for years. The Pulsar's patchability lets it play with my semi modular gear more so that'll be first (saving up this year). That Perkons is lovely but at a similar price needing to route it with audio signal limits it (just a hair) - but I'd love to play with one for a year :)
Totally different beasts, but in particular the Perkons has more immediate recall. Which is perfect for playing live with multiple pieces of gear.
Pulsar is much more experimental. The weirdness factor really makes it unique, not for the faint of heart though. Tuning by ear is a necessary skill. Also, understanding analog signal pathways and modulation is very important.
If you’re already waist deep into Eurorack, with an understanding of CV, gates, and triggers. The Pulsar is a logical first purchase. Or, if learning these aspects is really important to you, sure.
However, if you are looking at pairing with MIDI based instruments, I’d recommend the Perkons first.
Both are fantastic, and I’m lucky enough to have them. Still, my favourite is a modified Techno System.
Yeah id probably prefer the Pulsar 23 but both are sick units, too expensive for me unfortunately
Great video, as usual but who is this for when most grooveboxes can pretty much get the same result? I am sure I must be missing some USP.
Love your work man! Hey what is that cool-looking silver thing that looks like Solid Snake's diskman?
I think it’s the Teenage Engineering recorder. TP-7.
i love perkons
I love lamp
Well that went crazy quickly. No no. We start crazy and see where we end up. Makes sence it is an experiMENTAL machine.😂
If you combine the Volca Beats, Drum, Sample and perhaps even Kick, you can really get into this teritory :)
Awesome sequencer and hands on control, but very limited sounds, returned after three days.
You shouldn’t return things unless they are broken. Just because it’s not everything you wanted it to be doesn’t mean you should use something and return it.
its a bucket list synth
iZ gozZ dat GookoO jUicZe 🤤
I'm a simple man, the more knobs the better 🤣
I'm getting tired with the few folks that say this has a limited sound . Infact I've had mine almost a year and I'm still finding new sounds . And that's not even including the recent added metal algorithm... I'm sure it's obvious we all have our go to style and patch start point .. but it's about pushing yourself and expanding your creative palette..ok it is not a machine with an infinite range of sounds .. but we tell me a drum machine /synth that has ...? ( still waiting lol) .right now a real 808 will cost you almost double the price of this beast and how many sounds can it create? Or a Nord drum 2 ..which has tons of sound design and expressive parameters..it sounds beautiful "but also has a limited range ..everything g has a limit .and I bleav true artists work within the limitations of the tools or medium they choose to use ..first we find the sweet spots and then the limits and then we push those limits .."it's where and when the magic often happens ".
thats some AFX shit if I ever heard it.
You never listened to afx than
Not worth £1790 by a long shot.
Could make a similar beat in Ableton and have all the rest of the features of ableton on top.
Nice toy.
a bit late to the game? :D
Toolbox
The Volca drums is easier and quicker to set up.
No comparrison?
Don't know.
That argument is really a non-starter. I'm not saying this is a perfect device (I own it and definitely have some reservations), but comparing it to a Volca drums is really not on.
Volca drum is much more versatile sound wise, but terrible handling and memory/patterns - in that form a toy as most volcas.

There is a massive difference in price which may compensate for the handling, miniturisation and portability. At the end of the day they are all Boy Toys.
i dislike the menu diving asmr and the small screen at this electron device
Don't see any use for it honestly.
😱
確かに、、、。フォルムはカッコいいんだけどなぁ。
What do you make, Country Polka?!
Use your ears.
I have to agree. I’ve not heard anything that I couldn’t do on my Deluge and I can make complete songs on that too for less money 😀!
