Julian has been playing obsessively and ceaselessly for nearly his entire life. it's okay to be at the level you're at. me personally I play music for the joy of expression, discovery of the self, and communication with my fellow humans. I'm happy with that. its kinda like...if you run a business are you gonna give up because Elon Musk is out there launching rockets?
I get that. I’ll never be at his level either but I look as his brilliance as something I should aspire to rather than despair over. I’m keeping my guitars.
I just downloaded the transcription of this version from Play Like the Greats, he did an incredibly accurate job and for all the Julian Lage albums. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn from one of the best guitarists alive.
These daily uploads from the current tour are cookin my beans. Unparalleled dynamics and phrasing. If you ever wanted to post a full set or two, I'm sure nobody would be upset.
@kevinp198x I just appreciate the great music bud, sad that you think that I need to make arguments about it. Hope you feel better little man, I'm sure you're really talented and that you know best 😂
I think this is my favorite song. When he did it on the tele with that little fender champ was one of my favorite guitar videos of all time. When my friend that don’t play ask me who’s the best of the best to day I tell them this is the guy.
I love the way he blends country and classical into jazz so seamlessly and effortlessly throughout the song. For me I remember Steve Howe from Yes would blend country and classical in his acoustic songs but in distinct sections. Julian does it where it flows dynamically and continuously, such genius.
God above I'm so excited for the show in London tomorrow. I'm praying that I'll hear I'll Be Seeing You, Emily or Atlantic Limited. But truth be told, whatever Julian plays will be more than enough
Wow. Fuckin incredible. Incredible. Really hits my soul. Thank you Julian page for being you. I hope I can express myself on my instrument like you before I die. Thank you.
This is my favorite tune you’ve ever done. I first heard the version of it you played on “Arclight” about a year ago now at this point, and I’ve been listening to it most days and played it on a couple of my gigs that I’ve had. Thank you for blessing my ears, Julian!
One day away from Cadogan Hall with my best mate, and 3 more to Brighton with my daughters, who used to sneak out of their rooms at night and listen to me trying to play Ryland. I can’t wait. This man and his music has brought me so much joy in the last 10 years.
Another masterful version of this classic. Like what Johhny Cash did to Hurt except we've got at least three distinct arrangements so far. Love this man
It was even more surreal seeing it live in person! Amazing throughout Julian, thanks so much for so many brilliant performances, and for introducing us to Ike!
I'd kill to see Julian try Charlie Hunter's hybrid guitar. While I love Charlie's jazz approach, I feel that Julian could display a whole new level of expression on that instrument
until the applause at the end I actually thought this was just a soundcheck for an empty room. goes to show that when Lage the Guitar God is playing you better shut tf up and listen.
I can't decide if Julien makes me want to play guitar 8 hours a day or quit for good. Anyway this was fabulous, one of my favorite piece.
I know exactly what you mean! Been playing for fifty years and don't think another fifty would get me anywhere near Julian's level.
lol. Same. Exactly bro
Makes us all wanna quit, but maybe we should be spiteful hahaha ^^'

I'll keep saying it like many others- please a live album of these performances!
Yes!!!

I second this
His inner timing is impeccable.
@kevinp198xhe didn’t lose track of time, time got lost in his playing…
He's Julian Fucking Lage, he can play around with time all he wants.
@kevinp198x awwwww did the little boy want to argue. Bless.
@kevinp198x you sure showed everyone in this comment section 😂

This guitar never knew what kind of chance the life will throw at it.

aw me too, I used to say I wanted that version played at my funeral
@@jada90 comforting to know I'm not the only weird music freak who says things like that
A word for the Collings guitar which sounds incredible.
I liked his old Martin better

Have fun. Saw him in Homer NY. Unforgettable show.
yo man, hope you're having a wicked time! let us know how it was when your out.
@@ralfsarchieWe got I'll Be Seeing You!! Absolutely mind blowing show. He's fearless...
This was my morning alarm song for years. It's great to hear it in this setting, so intimate and private. His playing touches our hearts!!
The channel is cranking out some sick content!
His playing is so dynamic here it’s easy to forget you’re just listening to a solo guitarist. Incredible stuff!
Proud to say I was in this crowd
The dynamics are what the entire industry is missing
Incredible sound guy and unmatched artistry on the guitar
I was at this concert Stephen. Third row back from the front almost in the middle 😊. Simply brilliant.
@PhilTaylorGuitar I was at Dublin! Blownn away
A Genius in his prime
Fearless. ❤
Who in the audience can sa that he was prepared to receive so much grace...
Me and my Son were there. Absolutely enthralling, start to finish.
Lucky guys!
Did anyone breathe?
Just wonderful. I love this guy 🔥😎♥️👋
Absolutely fantastic gig, lucky enough to have seen it live. Great sound, no amps, no pedals - all acoustic, all music.
Have to agree - no pedals needed for acoustics! I find Julian so much more satisfying when he plays acoustic. These recent uploads are fantastic.
Mighty fine playing. I hear some Julian Lage in you.❤👍👋😎
Bob Ross of guitar, happy little Tritone.
Wow. Fuckin incredible. Incredible. Really hits my soul. Thank you Julian page for being you. I hope I can express myself on my instrument like you before I die. Thank you.
My brain just kept saying "In tune" this whole performance. Both Julian, and the Guitar with each other. ☺👍🎸

This one really greases my sausage, just awsome
What?!
thank you so much for these daily gifts.
Waow, the évolution since the bald Guys twins. The dynamic is unbelievable.
Another masterful version of this classic. Like what Johhny Cash did to Hurt except we've got at least three distinct arrangements so far. Love this man
i would stay listening to this man play this tune for hours... so inventive and very passionate playing
Your daily uploads are genuine gifts.
Especially when it's my favourite piece.
The best guitar player!!! play with feeling, heart!!!
incredible.
Kind request for solo shows in the Netherlands on the next tour :D
I love this!
Everything Julian touches turn into Gold!
This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. Thank you so much for your music!
It was even more surreal seeing it live in person! Amazing throughout Julian, thanks so much for so many brilliant performances, and for introducing us to Ike!
New (old) favorit, congrats 🎈 this song is excellent on acoustic
I love all your recent live vids. Thank you so much Julian
Incredible performer....
Speriamo che tutti questi bellissimi live siano per un disco 🤪👏👏
I was thinking about this tune yesterday wondering if he’ll ever play it again.
The only person that makes me certain about who's the best guitarist ever. He makes the decision simple [and that's insane]
That was wonderful! Just wonderful! Thank you, sir!
Love the new harmonic progressions on this version
best guitarist alive
Was a great evening last night watching JL in Manchester.
You lucky kid!
incredible
Keep em coming ! Thank you
Best version I’ve ever heard. Had to give it another listen immediately. 👏
Amazing performance
Thanks Julian, that was amazing!
una locura total!!
Magnificent
Very nice this acoustic version
the goat
what he is doing at minute 2:00 is just incredible 🤯
Truly amazing, my favorite guitar of all time, still keep me surprise what he can do on the guitar
I'm so excited I'm seeing him live in London in few hours!
started simple then went full inventive jazz 🎸💯👏
Top class 👏
Master at work!
Wow.
Yes!
Que MARAVILHA! Obrigado pela partilha.😀
Sublime.
Sophisticated simplicity !
Pero qué bueno que eres, Julián! 🙌🏽
So beautiful. Thank you.
Beautiful.
Very-impressive
Can we please get a playlist of all these latest lives?
That instrument comes alive in his hands.
Always brilliant !!!
hey this guys pretty good!
Magnificent. Thank you
Masterful 😯💙
I love that set list!
When do you intend to have a show in Portugal?
Amazing!
I hope you post Gardens!
Is there anything he can't do amazingly well?
Please come to Texas.
Great video.
Julian is the Keith Jarrett of the guitar.
I'd kill to see Julian try Charlie Hunter's hybrid guitar. While I love Charlie's jazz approach, I feel that Julian could display a whole new level of expression on that instrument
Or simply them both jamming together.
Was there at this gig and can confirm it was real and not AI
His brain flows into six srings.
-Any guitarist in the room?
-Not anymore!
See you in Dortmund 😀
great minds not just think alike, but also look alike
-Pres. Abe Lincoln (March 1861)
-Julian Lage "Nocturne" (Live in Manchester 2024)
Fineee... I'll practice my chord inversions today. 😒
anyone else think it's cute af when he groans?
He's feelin' it
I can kinda sorta play this on my guitar 😂
If people heard this in the early-1900s, they’d call his incredible playing witchcraft.
until the applause at the end I actually thought this was just a soundcheck for an empty room. goes to show that when Lage the Guitar God is playing you better shut tf up and listen.
"No I won't back down*
He didn’t play this one in Belfast. Must be mixing it up
