It can be almost jarring to realize, or remember, that there are people of this caliber out there just playing shows night after night. A true genius, and I think someone who music history will hold as one of the brightest lights when it's all said and done.
I used to think we’d never see the likes of Coltrane, Jimi Hendrix, or Nina Simone again but here we have Julian. We are all very fortunate to hear his voice. The world is a better place because of him.
He sometimes reminds me of a Thelonious Monk of the guitar. You should see him play jam band music, when he solos he takes the entire band on a journey with him.
@@MrWater8land Yes he reminds me of Keith Jarrett as well. The reason he reminds me of Monk is that he can do a lot of things, like a million notes a second, but instead he chooses to put the music first. And not only does he do that, but, like Monk, he makes it very interesting.
It’s so good to hear Julian put the acoustic guitar up front and center in so many of his of mesmerizing pieces.this man writes from his soul! And no fear of doing so.
Was there! Utterly mind blowing. Absurdly difficult, furious, then jumps to subtle and delicate, crammed with ideas plus the sheer stamina of the man. The best live guitar performance I've ever seen.
I was lucky enough to be standing at the front for this concert, how amazing for Belfast. Such a lovely man, he was genuinely thrilled and excited to be playing for us, beautiful spirit. A shout out to his support act - Ike Thomas, brilliant singer songwriter.
I've had pleasure of seeing Julian Lage 3 times (NY, London, Belfast) and I think this was the best one. Had the opportunity to speak to him in NY (Village Vanguard) and begged him to come to Belfast - sometimes God listens!! 😂
I still can't stop thinking about this concert, it was such a fantastic night. Staggeringly, casually virtuostic with such a sense of fun, joy and freedom. Thanks so much Julian!
Just like a great writer Julian tells us a thrilling story, but unlike a great writer he makes all the intriguing details up on the spot. It's a wild ride that ends up with a great smile on the faces of those who listened to the end.
Time and time again, I say, there's nobody today that plays with such emotion, such passion as Julian Lage. He has a confident command over the instrument that you automatically know whatever he plays, you'll feel it in your heart!! Bravo and Well Done, Sir!!
Pure talent and mastery ! Ppl with acoustic guitars nowadays bang the guitar top more than they play on strings ! Julian is the best right now and one of the all time greatest!
Miracle Man strikes again! One of the best guitar lovers ever. They speak to each other. What an opportunity that we may listen in! Julian Lage is the string whisperer of our days. Pat Metheny must be his brother from the same Mother Music.
You're good, my friend. Usually I spot what most guitar players are doing as soon as they start playing. But you, alongside a couple of other genius musicians of our time, have your own unique style full of personality. As a guitar player myself, it took me a just a couple of videos to notice that you spent countless hours every day practicing the damn thing, but you're still capable of expressing deep emotions. Congratulations 👏
In spite of all the great albums he puts out, we get to see these fresh interpretations coming in abundance. Thank you Julian Lage your generosity is appreciated ❤
Beautiful arrangement and performance! Kinda mind-blowing. First heard this tune years ago on my local college radio station driving to the grocery store on Sunday morning. What an artist.
Rhett Shull just posted a video in regards to bands using backing tracks and what we thought about it. I went off on a tangent about going to see artists perform and being caught off guard by them not having the band with them. This is what I wrote about Julian... "If I am paying to see a band, I want the whole band. If it's just one person, it better be marketed as such. However, a couple experiences caught me off guard. One was seeing Julian Lage at a very tiny, intimate outside stage in Lexington VA. All I saw was an upright on the stage after the openers. I was like, where's the drums, where's the...good god, the AMP!!!! Out comes Julian with an acoustic and bassist Jorge...and to be honest, my heart sunk quite a bit. I wanted/expected the performance to be his "band". Was I ever mistaken though...I was a fool to be at all disappointed at first or upset for feeling "robbed" of a band experience. Julian proceeded to make my brain explode. The two of them, with very nice acoustic instruments, ripped my face off. We were sitting right up front because the locals never sit there for fear of feet getting stepped on from happy dancing peoples. Well, no dancing that time as people were too enthralled and mesmerized by the performance...the experience was amazing!!!" This video gave me a very similar feeling...thanks Julian.
I've seen Julian live with his trio twice in London, both incredible of course. I have a ticket for his solo acoustic guitar show coming up (also in London, next week) and I'm buzzing. World's Fair is the album I've listened to the most, the purity of this level of solo playing on the acoustic is just something else, can't wait to experience it live.
We’re almost the same age and grew up in the same town. No idea why it took me so long to find out about you. Was listening for a while before I found that out. Legendary guitar playing

One person
That guitar must be totally exhausted after that.
Absolutely wonderful playing Julian.

@@PseudoIntellectual2.0 YES! His sit-in with Goose was legendary!
Yes
One of if not the best to ever pick up a guitar!! Thank you Julian for your passion and love of guitar and your gift of music!! 🙏🏼

This is virtuosity and mastery transcended. Just pure musicality, joy and tapping the universal source. Thank you Mr Lage!

Sublime intellect, sublime technique, sublime creativity, such joy of playing. Julian Lage.
Joyfully intentional while traveling the very edge of creation. This is the player of a generation.
This might be the most incredible acoustic guitar playing I've ever seen/heard...
I've had pleasure of seeing Julian Lage 3 times (NY, London, Belfast) and I think this was the best one. Had the opportunity to speak to him in NY (Village Vanguard) and begged him to come to Belfast - sometimes God listens!! 😂
I cried, I actually couldn't stop crying, while watching this. Julian is a beautiful being
I still can't stop thinking about this concert, it was such a fantastic night. Staggeringly, casually virtuostic with such a sense of fun, joy and freedom. Thanks so much Julian!
Jaw dropping. I can tell he was feeling it, really in the moment creativity on display here. Brilliant!
Went to a JL acoustic show and by the end of the first two numbers I felt like I could go home happy and it was only like seven minutes of music.
Just like a great writer Julian tells us a thrilling story, but unlike a great writer he makes all the intriguing details up on the spot. It's a wild ride that ends up with a great smile on the faces of those who listened to the end.

What an amazing show. Thank you, Julian, for coming to Belfast. I think everyone appreciated it so much! ❤
He's the best right now, period.
This is so raw. omg

4:16 Did I just see him do an eight fret stretch with his freaking thumb? Unbelievable!
Amazing! I’m praying more videos from this show are released, or even better a full length dvd.

Breathtaking. Smiled all the way through watching and hearing that.
There are people that play guitar, and then there is Julian Lage. Unbelievable performance!
Era-defining greatness. On every level.
What just happened… such freedom and abundance of ideas 😮

Bro I don't even know what to say. Just, thank you for this. Wow.
Tremenda expresión en cada nota, conectando con toda la gente. Muchas gracias 💚
I have NO idea what I just listened to - and I have no words to describe it! WOW.
This is some of your best playing.
A pure and true craftsman. And a priceless musician
The most beautiful live performance on youtube.
An extraordinary human being.
Beautiful arrangement and performance! Kinda mind-blowing. First heard this tune years ago on my local college radio station driving to the grocery store on Sunday morning. What an artist.
I first listened to this song around '84 on the Dire Straits live album and was STUNNED: I must have played it back to back 4 or 5 times!!!
One of my favorite songs ever. I've never heard an acoustic version and it was amazing. Thank you Julian
sobbing
I don't always understand his playing and I think that's a good thing.

GREETINGS FROM THE ORBITRON - Continue the journey👽
Gorgeous playing, beautiful composition
I think you should release a DVD/streaming of this kind of stuff.. anything that you be so kind as to post myself and others would gladly receive❤
You're a genius Julian thanks so much 🙏
Some guitar players have guitar face. Julian has guitar body. What an amazing performance.
I'm blown away. Can't wait for Bristol next Friday.
One of my favorites from VwaR. It’s so infectious. This one is no exception
Phenomenal and mesmerizing guitar execution! Thank you for sharing.
Im coming to London for one of these gigs next week and I am SO EXCITED AAA
WOW!
Why isn’t there more of these high quality sound videos from the solo tours AND the trio?!!
How is it possible!
I've seen Julian live with his trio twice in London, both incredible of course. I have a ticket for his solo acoustic guitar show coming up (also in London, next week) and I'm buzzing.

Are we actually watching the greatest modern guitarist in the world?
Simply monumental!
Just got tix for SF in February. Can't wait!

I have to hear Nocturne after this.
Jesus fuckin christ on a stick! This is just another worldly playing.

Leyenda Viva 🎶🐐
Awesome!
Ufff, pasan muchas cosas ahí 🙌🏻♥️
☺
When a virtuoso has a moment of grace... damn ! No equivalent in the guitar world. See you in London in a few days, Julian !
Glasgow tomorrow for me!
London and then Brighton for me :-)
I’ve never seen someone seem less capable of playing something wrong. His improv ideas are ridiculous.
Entire concert when??
Is there a suttle référence to woodstock freedom ?
Absurdo, verdaderamente.
Outstanding. This guy is a gift to human kind.
