And Jokic seems to be bellow average in all those but he seems to be above average in everything else. He looks to be strong enough despite first impressions. He definitely has the stamina as well. Maybe it's just African Americans who look extra bulky due to genetics. I'm trying to imagine how much better he could be if he could get in better shape and put on more muscle. Nice video. Great points. I think there is much to be said for the fact that muscle definition/low fat ratio isn’t the greatest indicator of health and strength. There are arguments that the ultra defined body so popular now may be less healthy and conditioned than a body that has muscle with some fat. Another aspect of athleticism I’ve been thinking about regarding Jokic is footwork. The man has incredible moves in the post because of his footwork, the spins and counters. Despite a body that arguably looks ungainly, the man is very graceful, sometimes looking like a dancer with his feet arms arms as he maneuvers for a floater or push shot or flip. Yes, that’s a skill, but like you pointed out with passing and hand-eye coordination, I think one can argue that this is probably boosted a great deal by innate, coordination, which is an athletic trait.
Would anyone call Marathon runner unathletic. Jokić clocked in more miles per game than Steph Curry in these play off and narrative for Curry is that he is always on the move. Also in 2019 Jokic played 65 out of posibble 68 minutes in 4 overtimes game vs Portland, last time anyone did that was in 1953...
As a basketball athlete, an interesting precedent for Jokic is Marc Gasol. Especially coming into the league, Marc Gasol had a lot of work to do on his conditioning. After he got that figured out, though, Marc Gasol was one of the best post defenders in NBA history. For Marc, just like for Jokic, it's the combination of foot speed, reach, and reaction time that makes them outstanding basketball athletes. Marc Gasol was unbelievably quick on his feet for a guy his size, especially when defending in the paint. Jokic's footwork on defense looks similar to me, with the added benefit of more refined offensive footwork. Maybe it even had something to do with carrying around extra weight when younger! Another precedent for this kind of career trajectory? Charles Barkley. For me, it makes more sense to judge a players' athleticism simply by how they move around on the court. Vertical is helpful once in a while, but really it's the horizontal that makes the difference 99% of the time.
It's just American definitions. They would call anyone that's not jacked out of shape. Would they call rugby players out of shape when they have to run consistently for 40 min? Probably

I agreed so much with everything you said that I'm gonna have to subscribe
Ppl jus call Jokic those things because he isn’t the typical looking “athletic guy” in the nba.
Glad you're back man! You, Andyhoops and Jxmyhighroller are the best NBA youtuber..
No way Mark is back lets go
My favorite nba creator is back?! Let's go!!!
Im so happy your back talking ball
people associate body fat % too much with being in shape. his weight actually helps him be more powerful
He has the arm of an NFL Quarterback in regards to strength with arguably even greater accuracy.
Also this man only misses like 6 games a season. Anyone who’s played with or against him in nba fantasy knows how consistently overpowered he is
Thanks for doing this video.
Thanks for basing your observations on some facts and evidence. Many highly respected NBA commentators have been neglecting that part of their job.
Would anyone call Marathon runner unathletic. Jokić clocked in more miles per game than Steph Curry in these play off and narrative for Curry is that he is always on the move.
Also in 2019 Jokic played 65 out of posibble 68 minutes in 4 overtimes game vs Portland, last time anyone did that was in 1953...
holy shit are you back for good? ive really missed your videos haha
Thank you for saying this
So happy you are back, Basketball needs you❤️
It's just American definitions. They would call anyone that's not jacked out of shape. Would they call rugby players out of shape when they have to run consistently for 40 min? Probably
