Build guides are coming in starting tomorrow, as soon as Ghazzy ends stream and records them.. Expect up to 5-6 high quality guides coming out throughout the week with immaculate quality and content in them. I'm GIGA hyped and i hope you are too!! ~ Kikis, the editor
A very nice tldr. I can see where the confusion may come from. I myself happened to come across, I think, reddit post about this some years ago, and it explained to me: if an item doesn't explicitly say that it adds this and that to minions - it doesn't. Thank you for being there for the new players!
Having played for years and years I think sometimes players like me take for granted how confusing PoE's tag system can be for newer players. I think it would be cool if they took a Last Epoch approach and on the gem itself split up the tags between the "Spell" portion (you casting it) and the "Minion" portion (what supports will actually affect the minion).
If GGG decided to make the tag "cast" on minion skill gems, instead of "spell", things which affect the casting of a spell could still affect it, but spell damage etc would not. It might make it more intuitive.
a good way of explaining perhaps is that different from hybrid skills like totem thats attacks or unleash links is that minions can truly be separate entities not in the sense of a trap vs. you but things with a soul/spirit/anima/breath vs you. Unlike totems that could be sentient, or even automata, minions have a mind of their own, AI in our world. When a minion is the skill (you're going to affect) the rule is to generally word anything and everything in terms of "minions" always explicitly, and narrow futher if necesary "animated" category of summons or "golems" one; never use pronouns or tacit noun when describing a stat or something in items/passives... Last but not least, we're all allies you and me and ours but party players are only players, not NPS/minions
with that new ice sweep spell, it seems that this kind of interaction with become far more common. They should change spell summoned minion gems to distinguish between the summoning spell and the minion
Hi Ghazzy, great Vid. One thing I wish you included was an explanation on probably the most confusing scenario IMO. And that is shaper and elder mods that effect socketed attacks/spells. I belive it's the one case where something refering to a spell actually effects the minions attacks? Referring to the Shaper mod, sockets spells have +2% to critical strikes. Likewise I belive the attack version of this mod doesn't work on minions that attack? (Unless summoned via an attack?) Could be wrong . Definitely worth explaining. Cheers.
Thanks for this very useful video. Please make more videos like these that enlighten us on game mechanics and theory that will eventually help us make our own builds.
I think you explained it properly by saying minions are a separate entity, while totems, traps etc are an extension of yourself. Everything from there is pretty self explanatory and follows logic: srs is a spell and a fire skill, but its effect is summoning a minion. The skill itself doesnt have a "hit" and thus is not affected by spell or fire damage modifiers.
A good start, but misses some things Things like Leer Cast wouldn't affect your minions by that logic. Minions are also considered "allies", so it does. But of course, they're not considered part of your "party", which blocks off certain items/effects.
First league I'm going ssf, maybe with a minion build (also for the first time) as well. I'm spending the week watching all your guides to not make league start a pain in the a$$ :p
I haven't really ever played a minion build but just tried SRS this newest league and noticed one cool interaction is that gear with the +1 Fire Spell Skill Gems, (I think that's the mod), gives +1 to the level of SRS gem so that was a fun interaction that I didn't expect. Where SRS says 'converts 100% of physical to Fire' how does that work out if I wanted to convert phys to chaos trying to get them to poison? Does the SRS innate conversion happen first or last?
HALP! I have a question about SRS + minion instability. Does the explosion hit dependon accuracy / hit chance? I suppose not, since wiki says it's no melee damage (... so a spell?) I was trying to find information because most popcorn build guides take the gravepact wheel (lots of accuracy), and this confuses me a little bit. So, short question: Does my srs popcorn-boom need accuracy to reliably hit?
Minion Instability is considered "Secondary Damage", see wiki. Gravepact is taken by most minions because of the double damage stat. Ask if you have further questions.
@@akaiappears Thanks a lot for your answer. Wiki states that secondary damage can not be blocked, dodged, or evaded, so i understand that accuracy is not important for MI booms. It makes sense tho, that chance for double damage alone can be really good.
If you are doing Dominating Blow for example, you are hitting things to create minions so getting minion attack speed and also getting that attack speed yourself is a plus for sure.
the minion side of tags really needs some time from GGG, it really could help with the current situation where all minions build are 90% the same, and it would really help newer players with this situation
Well, it's either that and tell people to cap your elemental res in every single section of my guide. Or, I make the rare items in the POB and then get spammed with the question "Ghazzy, where do you get a pair of boots with 42% fire resistance?". After 9 years of making guides for PoE I've decided this is the smoothest way for me to work. So, since you're having issues with that part let me help you by telling you: Cap your elemental resistances with gear, chaos res is in most builds very nice to have but will add additional cost to your gearing.
8:32 today i was thinking.. would it be better if summons/minions were treated like traps/totems. So they would be "using" your stats, rather than being isolated entities. Would that be better? Also does Ghazzy have any vid on poison SRS build?
poison srs is a build i would stay away from, poison is a chaos damage source and srs has 100% fire conversion, if your looking for poison, specters zombies or skeletons serve you better
I could not be a streamer. As mush as those follows which are super important, I would look for a different way of doing it. I am just starting with a mini build and I am like level 15 and the monsters I fight are level 7, so I am not getting much experience now
Depending on how expensive Fracturing Orbs get, how good would a double-Essence Absolution helmet be? Start with Fracturing the Horror mod: Socketed Gems deal 30% more Elemental Damage Then spam Insanity: Socketed Gems gain 50% of Physical Damage as extra Lightning Damage until you get +2 Minions And then you can add Eldritch mods!
So I think this answers a question I had. im running a minion build and I have my raging spirit linked to a totem cast and +2 max totem gems so I can have 3 totems auto summon while I cast dark pact. I noticed the gem for having a totem cast said -44 spell damage but since the totem is summoning , that -44 doesnt apply to the minions right?
But if I have a support geme with chaos as tag, does it mean that the chaos damage the minion deals from that has my increased chaos damage bonuses. With other words can I still buff the support gems connected to the minion gem with bonuses witch does not go to minions?
Hey Ghazz, on unique jewels with the change in 3.20. I have to vaal orb a cobalt, crimson etc jewel to get a chance to get unique I'm looking for? Is this how its gonna work?
I have never played Absolution before and I want to play it during 3.20 league start From my understanding, Absolution can be scaled in two ways: the player does most of the damage OR the minions does most of the damage, right?
It does affect it. See Melee Splash Support, it uses similar wording. I know it sounds very whacky, but it makes sense in a roundabout way. Like, melee splash is an attack support, kinda, and srs is a spell, kinda, but melee splash can support the auto attack attack of the srs minion, which is obviously not a spell, but it is a skill so it is affected by skill damage.
Love your channel and vids, but I have to say I hate clickbait titles/thumbnails. Specially ones that don't say about anything about the video. I actively avoid videos that do this and don't explain at all the content covered through the title/thumbnail.
Yeah how many years later and we still have no minion damage tool tip, these sorts of video's would not need to exist outside of super new players only, but obscuring and hiding all the important things like where are the buffs is GGG's thing.

Any thoughts on putting together a poison carrion golem build, particularly with the bug-fix to poison damage in 3.20?

ALL u should know about minions - AG gear = full trapper/totem uber bosser build

Semi noob question; how about auras that state " you and allies" ? Are minions included in those?
Yes
@@alexandrenicolichi7709 cheers
@@BuzzaB77 ;)
Minions are Allies, but not party members. So things like Auras: yes. Things like Conduit: no.
Just as a side note stacking "cast speed" helps minion attack more times per second?
This would been great opportunity to also explain Spiritual Aid and Spiritual Command. Does eg. calling wand affect your damage after spiritual Aid??

Wow, tyvm for this info! I never know that
Please make a guide how to see actual minion damage in POB !!!
how about dark pack? you are the one casting it...and the explosion is hitting, wouldn't it benefit from it?
the minion side of tags really needs some time from GGG, it really could help with the current situation where all minions build are 90% the same, and it would really help newer players with this situation
@Ghazzy You have a league starter Minion Instability SRS build somewhere?
How can you make your all resistant 1000+ up? This is amazing!!
Well, it's either that and tell people to cap your elemental res in every single section of my guide. Or, I make the rare items in the POB and then get spammed with the question "Ghazzy, where do you get a pair of boots with 42% fire resistance?".

poison srs is a build i would stay away from, poison is a chaos damage source and srs has 100% fire conversion, if your looking for poison, specters zombies or skeletons serve you better
Also burning SRS is weak , because you can apply burning bonuses from tree to minions (sad)

Hey question ghazzy.. if you run necero aegis and get a high armor shield. Can you buff specters shield charge skills??
But if I have a support geme with chaos as tag, does it mean that the chaos damage the minion deals from that has my increased chaos damage bonuses. With other words can I still buff the support gems connected to the minion gem with bonuses witch does not go to minions?
Hey Ghazz, on unique jewels with the change in 3.20. I have to vaal orb a cobalt, crimson etc jewel to get a chance to get unique I'm looking for? Is this how its gonna work?
Any ideas on how you think we might acquire Primordial Jewels?
This is not at all confusing for new players. :D
so when you skill aegis what happens wirth minion affixes on said shield? do they still apply or would they apply to a minion of said minion?
I have never played Absolution before and I want to play it during 3.20 league start
From my understanding, Absolution can be scaled in two ways: the player does most of the damage OR the minions does most of the damage, right?
Scaling the self damage portion isn't really viable. You just use it to summon your buddys.
@@chordling2 thanks for clarifying, cheers
That's great! 🔥🔥🔥
OK if I put flammability on blasphemy can it help with SRS dmg?
Doesn't matter how the curse is applied, flammability will help.
90 years, right.
so a video for newer minion users then.
Give this man 70k!!
Is these facts still correct regarding minions?
then what about totem spell support? if i put SRS on a spell totem, will it affect its damage of the minions? since it says skill, instead of spell.
