UI Walkthrough: OSC If we look at the interface, on the left, we've got the oscillator section where we can do things like set our main oscillator type and frequency, and add FM synthesis, wave folding and noise, and all of these things we can modulate using slopes or LFOs. As well as the main oscillator, there's an FM oscillator, a sub oscillator and ring modulation. FILTERS There's an absolutely beautiful filter section with a vast range of filter types, various low-pass filters, a high-pass filter, various band-pass filters, an all-pass / low-pass filter, a notch filter, a phaser filter, a high-pass / low-pass filter, a notch / low-pass filter, and an option to bypass the filter. Again the filter can be modulated in various ways. DRONE, OUTPUT In the middle of the interface, we have a knob which allows us to turn on a constant drone, and again, this is modulatable. Over on the top right, we have things like the dry/wet mix.and a kind of delay and reverb section. We can apply a low pass filter on the output. DYNAMICS Below that, we have various controls for dynamics, things like the attack and speed times, the sustain level, and the decay and release times. We can set it up as a VCA or LPG. Low Pass Gates, common in West Coast synthesis, are great for plucky sounds and can bring a changing timbre over time that mirrors how most physical materials in nature behave. MODULATION Below the filter area is the slope section, where we can set the attack and decay of the slope, and whether it works as a one-shot or in cycles. The slope is often a modulation source for various parameters in the UI. To the right of that we have the LFO section, which has six different choices, sine, triangle, square, sample and hold, ramp up and ramp down. There's also a wow and flutter knob. LIVE PADS Now, in various places on the interface you can see some little things that look like fingerprints. Absolutely beautiful interface by the way. Anyway, these things that look like fingerprints are live pads. Basically you press on them and drag to control the amount of certain effects in real time. So here we have a bitstretcher, flanger, time slow down effect, a reverser and a chopper/repeater effect. SEQUENCER Along the bottom, we've got the sequencer. We have the upper section, where we have knobs to select our notes and select the velocity for each note. We can control the length of the sequence and we have a lot of freedom regarding length, so using several instances of this we could easily set up polyrhythmic patterns. The duration of each step can range between one bar and one sixteenth notes. We can also control the gate duration of each note and can quickly adjust the base octave for the sequencer. The sequencer can go forwards or it can go forwards and backwards.and we can set the likelihood of mutations in the sequence. RANDOMIZERS Hilda has got a randomizer button that allows us to randomize the sequence or just modify the sequence a little bit, and, again, with the synth settings, we can randomize the patch or we can just alter the patch slightly. The presets menu allows you to create your own banks as well as share individual presets or export all your presets. LAST WORDS So what could be improved? To be honest, not very much as it's really excellent. I would like to see forward and backwards buttons for the presets section - It's a small thing, but one I always expect every app to have and it annoys me when any app doesn't have that. That’s it though really! and there are so many things to love: the interesting mix of different synthesis styles, the absolutely gorgeous interface. It's just an real pleasure to work with. I love things like the drone knob and the sequencer. With all these options you can really set up a very very wide range of different complex and interesting patches. Another thing that everybody has noted about Hilda is just the quality of the sound. It has an extremely rich, beautiful, dirty sound to it. The filters seem incredibly high quality. Another cool thing that I forgot to mention earlier is that you can use the filters and a few other features of the app as an FX and you can also load Hilda as a MIDI app, so you can use things like the Sequencer to send out MIDI to other apps - super cool. Overall, this is definitely one of the best synth releases on iOS in recent memory
Bram does it again.. creating a fantastic app that we didn’t know we needed until now.. 😂 Great UI + sounds as usual.. logical layout too.. count me in for this beauty please Gav.. it’s only a matter of time before Hilda is on my iPad.. Thanks for the intro + giveaway..
Hey Gav! Thank you for this video, it’s wonderful! I really like this synth, and I will get it eventually! Like did with all the other stuff from Bram Bos! )))
Great walkthrough. I’m not sure if anyone else has mentioned this yet but in AUM, if you touch one of the “fingerprint” fx (crusher, tape stop, etc) then close the Hilda window with your other hand, the effect will stay engaged, even when you reopen the window. You can then touch it again to disengage
Thanks, i forgot to watch Bram bos’s creations for a while, but this synth, and “fluss” are machines i always wanted, without knowing where to start looking. And thanks a lot for the great channel, looks like a lot of work!
Hilda Rocks! In my mind Hilda is either a very Patente young (female) guy doing all the crazy sounds nobody else can or a German tank‘ish female. I know two Hildas-both very musical (now there are Three musical Hildas in my life - getting crowded in my head)
This thing sounds amazing- been a fan of Bram's work since I went looking for a metronome to help me practice bass guitar and downloaded Hammerhead. The 2399 delay sounds so good- really captures that dark, distorted quality of the repeats on the real thing
Sound, UI, the whole package is once again 100% Bram Bos quality. Whatever he codes becomes gold. Impressive synth with must have factor. Would love to be one of the lucky winners.

U have to okay it with an mpe controller and even using an external controller, you'll just get 8 notes that repeat identically the whole way up the keyboard. I'm not advising against getting it, but it's good to know the limitations before you purchase. 😺Love the sound of this app - could make a good stab at making some Alessandro Cortini style sounds (I already have a 4 track 😉) Nice one Bram Bos and nice one Gavinski!
Awesome demo! A Time row on the sequencer would take this into Make Noise tabletop trio territory -O-Coast, Strega and 0-CTRL. But at a fraction of the cost, and fully portable 😅
Este trabajo que te tomás es muy valioso para conocer los sintes, Seqs y procesadores para así decidir si comprar o no. Supongo que para los que recién comienzan lo es más. Gracias por tu tiempo y conocimiento.
Going off on a tangent here but Bram’s apps have really come a long way visually. Nice to see him competing with the beautiful interfaces from the likes of Audio Modern 🎉

In a world, saturated by synthesizers, this is one of its own kind, and hard to resist! Thanks for the demo & intrigued by Hilda ~

Thanks for the vid and the giveaway 🙏🏽🧔🏼👍🏽 What a monster- but You said, it isn’t as complex as the first look. I would give Hilda a try.

Looks like there is a lot packed into this synth, good for experimenting.

Beyond belief! When too much oscillation is never enough. Synth me at will.
Pretty wild! A totally different UI like this one can be so refreshing, let the creativity flow 😎
In it to win Hilda. Best wishes to all who make music and not war.
beautiful looking design too! top app again bram!
I have a lot of Bram Bos apps already and would love to add this one to my collection.
Great overview!
Awesome synth. I love your in-depth videos! Would love to win Hilda to add to my folder of Bram Bos apps
Man i love this Synth! Thanks for the walkthrough, i learn better visually rather than reading a manual
Awesome! Thanks for putting together a video. I’ve been looking forward to this new synth from Bram.
Thanks for the walkthrough! Really nice monosynth.
Now this is that beautiful retro sound I’m always chasing. Thank you so much for the demo!
Yes! Brand new Bram Bos app 😊 Thanks for the vid, good as always

Such a rich sounding synth! I love when synths have the possibility to blend in an input signal.
Love the gritty sound of this!
It’s a typical sounding app from Bram Bos . Finally a new one . Love it 🎹
To be honest, in my case, the love for drones is due to the fact that I'm not very good at composing music. But I really like the sound design.
Inspiring demo for this monosynth! Thanks!
I’ve been waiting for this! Looks good 👍

All ways informative and great review hope your sight is better
Love this developers apps. Consistently brilliant
Gorgeous tones... excellent demo G !
Cheers!
This looks great. I'm a huge fan of Bram Bos.
Looks awesome, hope to win a copy!
Awesome demo! A Time row on the sequencer would take this into Make Noise tabletop trio territory -O-Coast, Strega and 0-CTRL. But at a fraction of the cost, and fully portable 😅
Please explain ‘time row’ - I’m intrigued! Not a hardware guy tho
Only scratched the surface for an hour before work. But wonderful stuff @bram bos
Hilda is yet another gem by Bram.
Este trabajo que te tomás es muy valioso para conocer los sintes, Seqs y procesadores para así decidir si comprar o no. Supongo que para los que recién comienzan lo es más. Gracias por tu tiempo y conocimiento.
Thnks!
Not essential for all but a must have for many! Pretty sure I have nothing like it so will be purchasing after this video ends. ~£12 ish.. fantastic!
Looks like a lot of fun is coming my way!
Wow! Sweet. Thx. I’d love to get Hilda
Sounds really good. Looking forward to it.
Thanks for the thorough demo 🤝
I appreciate most of the apps from Bram Bos, but I'm most interested in Fluss at the moment (if I'm lucky)
Wow it seems incredibly good !
Going off on a tangent here but Bram’s apps have really come a long way visually. Nice to see him competing with the beautiful interfaces from the likes of Audio Modern 🎉
Haven’t they really! Lovely to see someone improve at their craft, this UI is beautiful
