I can see this being an absolutely amazing introduction to making music for children. Literally anything can be a instrument with this, and with how creative they are I doubt they'd ever get bored.

I think this costs almost 500 dollars. It’s cool gear but you’re definitely paying for the brand these guys are trying to establish.

I want this for the same reason I wanted a harmonica as a kid, I feel like I could make all this bad ass music easily. In reality it will be harder than expected and I won't put in the time or effort and it will end up in a box somewhere and I will only see it every 10-15 years when I move house.

This. The Bob Ross effect is in play here. This is for sure not a master's instrument, but without some basic musical horsesense all you're going to make with it is noise. Having said that, this looks like a perfect way to gain that horsesense in the first place. It's an entry level synthesizer, looks like something that'd have been right at home in 70s prog rock.

Yeah this looks like a great product, but in the demos they're going to make it look way easier than it is to make great sound. I also just want it because it's a cool looking device.
At least that's actually a problem with the consumer and not the product for a change :)

Absolutely amazing product demo; at @2:53 I felt like time slowed down and I was actually transported to an ethereal place, and then the simple phrase “magic” was the perfect cherry on top to capture it all

yeah! totally fits the aesthetic! it's like when you buy a distortion pedal with smiley faces on it, you call it "angry baby time". why not call notes "little pickles" instead of A#7? We should call keyboards "Rain storm in a sea of dreams" that way people will know what keyboards are.

Ive been a professional musician for 10+ years, but have always been intimidated by electronic music because of the learning curve. I cannot wait to own Chompi. This looks incredible. Thank you.
just try it out, even with little to no knowledge there are plenty of features that can help you make music without knowing anything at all - maybe you could also just start by using effects for the instrument you can professionally play
As someone who learned synthesizers and would be comfortable on any one in existence, the music theory part is harder.
Electronic music is easy. Tweak until you like how it sounds.
The magic of music is in composition
Now, I'm not the kind of person to click on an ad, but this funky little instrument caught my eye, and I'm glad it did! This is a super interesting product, and the "Magic~" at 3:08 gave me chills!
This is I think the best starter midi sampler that I've seen there has been a huge gap for beginner tools for so long this might actually fill

I have nothing against this tool but it'll likely be too expensive for beginners
@@Oblivioust Yep ☹️ I’ve been wanting to play w sampling+looping for years & because I don’t have much tech experience, I’ve been hoping to find something beginner-friendly, just like Chompi. I’m not wealthy enough to spend $500-600 upfront when I’m not certain I’ll love & stick with the hobby.
It would be so cool if low cost Chompi rentals became a thing in the near future.
Also, I hope the makers of these sorta gadgets learn that there’s an eager market for lower cost versions of this tech, so us broke babes can get funky, too.

@@infinitenoodledoodle At least it's not as bad as the op-1 which can easily reach >$1500 and even $3000 at some places. This is far more affordable for about $300 as a good piece of kit. I'll admit that it doesn't look as featured as the op-1 but the features that are there sound and work well.

This looks insane ! Is there going to be a memory bank for samples ? i'd love to be able to collect samples in the wild and keep them for later sessions.

$500 for a sampler like this is standard, The SP404 be costing that much any vintage samplers that have controls like this that you don't have to use midi instruments on to get playback will cost this much. Sounds like Chompi is gonna have a home in my studio!

Have you ever considered making this instrument hot-swappable? Since the keys are akin to that of a mechanical keyboard, giving people the ability to customize the feel of their Chompi by replacing switches would make the experience of using this keyboard a lot better. This also opens up the possibility for analog-switch support, which could add a weighted keystroke feature to the Chompi. Imo this would make the Chompi a lot more interesting to use.
This will be my start into anything music and I’m very happy this showed up in my recommended! Thank you for sharing this video :)

I honestly don't know why, but for the past 2 weeks, this specific video has been my comfort video. There is just something so warm and welcoming about it, even without the dream-like beat at the end.
Holy crap. I am LOVING this. At first I was excited for a super cool new music gadget that was pushing the industry closer and closer to giving the OP-1 some competition. That transport knob is nuts. Unlike a lot music making machines where its all about beatmaking this is really up my alley with making unique sounds and ambient tracks. Im really excited for this! And even more excited to hear about more of the features. Only question I have is can you quantize on the CHOMPI?
this is fucking awesome. it's like a PO-33 with a looper instead of a sequencer. i'm curious about the loop time limit, presets, resampling, I/O, and midi capabilities. would be a nice addition to hardware enthusiasts!

Sure, but everything else is unique too. The simplicity of this thing is in itself great because it breeds creativity. Looks like it could be pretty easy to sketch ideas with, assuming it has supports for stems or something like that.

I’ve been looking for a product like this for so long! I love how simplistic it is while being fully capable of many musical possibilities. I also love the cute ascetic. As somebody with music knowledge, this product is very inspiring and something to look forward to!

It's honestly beautiful, and I will now excuse myself to the Kickstarter to see if I can afford contributing a bit :) nothing makes me happier to see people create things that sure, might be based on a basic keyboard, but make it so unique, intuitive and, as you said, "magical".
I've always wanted to learn how to use synthesizers but i felt like I would get overwhelmed.. but this was explained so well! I would say this would definitely be good for beginners

This is one of those tools where as soon as I saw it, my mind starting racing with possibilities of what I would create with it. As someone who has always been curious about sampling for a long time but has been hesitant to jump in, this seems like a great tool to get started on. It seems like there is quite a bit of depth with the range of options you've built into this thing. I can't wait to own one some day

Looking very promising, love the use of computer switches instead of a traditional piano keys. Reminds me a lot of the OP-1 - How many tracks will we be able to record onto this? I think that's the biggest limitation of the op-1 and is what has prevented me from buying, oh and the price of course.
Till this day there hasn’t been a piece of hardware that i knew from the jump i wanted, but Chompi…. just hits home. The simplicity and endless possibilities, not to mention it looks very portable. Looking forward to seeing what everyone creates with it and I can’t wait to get my hands on one!

I'm very happy for you guys. For the money I think it is a little expensive considering what is out there, but this is small quantity so I understand it. Hopefully this thing blows up and sells like crazy and you can bring the price down to three or four 99. For me it's a no-brainer at that point

On its own this is great! I see a lot of potential for this- you could put in CMI samples and go that route... or you can use it for loop based solo performances rather than just a punch in/out pedal! It is also adorable!

I'm loving the new kit coming out, and this looks to be one of the best.
So simple but so powerful. Like all good ideas it is hard to understand why no one thought of it before. I have struggled to introduce sampling to my workflow but I knew how to use this instrument by just looking at it. Subbed! will be keeping an eye on this
been thinking recently how can i get my future kids into music creation earlier than i was introduced. this is absolutely perfect for them. the layout is inviting and the controls are simple with complex capabilities.

600$ is a weird price for something like this though - It's acool device, but I got a Korg electribe sampler, which is 400$, or the OP-1 used for 600$ - both much more potent instruments in my eyes - but prove me wrong..

Is it possible to edit effects on each sample, or are the effects applied after blending everything?
This is cool as hell! I think the best part about it is how much it does within such a compact size.
You brought tears to my eyes when you turned the Transport all the way to the left and then turned the Magic Wand all the way to the right.
There can never be enough samplers and this one looks like an amazing bit of kit!
I love how there is no screen and it's just pure imagination where your errors are going to create something you never thought was possible.

Looks awesome, i like the keyboard button approach - looks very well thought out and sounds nice. Which connections are possible? Does it have memory on its own or externals? Midi? CV? What is the output soldered to, minijacks or solid connection? Questions over questions, it looks very promising :)

I was like "Oh, this is a pretty neat sampler", and then you spun the purple knob backwards and turned the magic knob, and my jaw dropped. This is the coolest thing I've seen, I want it now.
Edit: Ouch, just saw the $500 early bird price on your website. That's a little steep for me right now, but I would be glad to purchase this at some point later. It's maybe a bit high for what it is, but I also have to remember y'all are a new business, and the hardware seems incredibly high-quality.
I'm not one to invest in kickstarters just because of all the failed projects that never deliver, but I will purchase it for the higher price after the campaign if it's successful.
