Adas Polo (Lentil Rice with Minced Meat) - Cooking with Yousef

    Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! As you might have noticed, I've been away for a little bit, but I am back to share with you a wonderful meal called "Adas Polo" (عدس پلو با گوشت چرخ کرده) which is "Persian Lentil Rice". You can prepare it in a variety of ways, but today, I show you how to make it with minced meat which is my favorite variety.
    And if you are vegan or want to make it without meat, it's still a delicious dish and you simply forgo the meat.

    Ingredients List for this recipe:
    2 1/2 cup rice
    1 1/2 cup lentil
    1 1/2 pounds lean minced beef
    1 1/2 cup of dates
    1 1/2 cup of raisins
    1/2 to 1 teaspoon cumin powder
    1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/2 teaspoon coriander seed powder
    1 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
    1 1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    2 Onions
    Liquid Saffron (a pinch of ground saffron, mixed with a few tablespoons of hot water)
    50 grams of butter
    Cooking Oil as needed

    How can ANYONE give this a thumbs down? It's WONDERFUL!! Thank you so much for making what Maman Jaani would make but in the most simple and articulate manner! This is my favourite dish (after Ghormeh Sabzi) so I'm going to try it! I hope your arm and ceiling heal well. Mersi and Noosheh Jaan!!

    Mr Yousef, this recipe worked out fantastic. I've made it twice already and once for my Iranian mother-in-law, she absolutely loved it!
    Very easy to follow, comes together real smooth.
    Next I'll have a try at your zereshk polo, I've got some nice berries waiting to be used :)

    My Persian grandma used to make this for the hole family. It was always delicious.

    This is the best recipe for making this food. I make it this way too
    I was looking for a recipe that cooks lentils with rice. Because the taste of rice with lentils is very delicious. And most recipes cooked lentils separately and rice separately. And I'm glad you did that.

    Great cooking and I have had the same way our Chef done it and some other. other versions are also delicious.it’s very difficult to cook for a video and share how it has been done.

    Thank you. Looks amazing. I bought some kishmishe poloyi yesterday and am plannin to cook adas polo tomorrow. Very excited. Just that i donno why we say Persian Basmati. We dont have Basmati rice in iran. Those Basmatis are imported and they are considered as low grade rice and cheap. Sorry...just so crazy about our own rice which is way more tasty... hahaha

    Saffron water - saffron strands + hot water (let sit for a couple mins - with top or no top ) = saffron water .
    Note - Saffron strands are very very expensive .
