With how much was put into the planets themselves in this part, I have a feeling part 2 will be a big POI overhaul. Not saying these updates haven't been incredible as it is, but I think a whole range of new, expansive POIs is something that would really compliment part 1, and is the next big overhaul the game needs.
@@Aussie_Tomabsolutely agree, and since this first part focuses on basically all the core components of planets, the only other things i could see being worked on part two, would be POIs, resources, and perhaps the few remaining planet types that didn't show up in the patch notes for part 1 (barren planets, anomalous planets, and dissonant planets).
@@MrWhoopwhoop10stop being a simp bozo. The game was bad and under delivered. That’s a fact. Right now they have delivered on the promises they made before and now they are building on top of it which is great and should be lauded
And the important part to remember is that they manage to stay in business... it's easy to just give stuff up... but giving stuff and not going bankrupt shows great management and directorial skills.
@@agahnim0196 Yeah. I wonder how much income they are getting from continued purchases even now. People who weren't the target audience must be curious now.
"When we started No Man's Sky, you know, I wanted people to feel like they had stepped into the cover of a science fiction novel" Looking at the gameplay on screen when Sean says this, you've definitely succeeded at this! Amazing job!
That's actually kind of ironic. I'm guessing you're a teenage or very early 20s, and don't realize/remember/know that when they stared NMS, it was actually the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of what you wrote. Sean Murray completely failed at NMS the first few years of it's existence. They've definitely improved the game a lot since then, but they robbed a lot of people of their pre-order money and collector's edition money in the beginning, without delivering a science fiction novel cover. I still think it's sad that people who spent $50-$60 on the game, got a crap game and got robbed......and now people can get the game for $5 with all these updates. It's a mixed bag of emotions when it comes to this game. It's great that the game keeps updating and improving, but it only has this "greatest story in the video game history" (stealing the comment above mine lol) because they themselves dug the hole they were in. It's like someone causing a problem, and then fixing the problem they caused..... only to get praised for fixing the problem (which wouldn't have existed in the first place if it wasn't for that person).
@@billyfraiser6298 there were definitely more at cause of the launch, ultimately they're at fault too, but i can't help but think they're the good guys after watching Internet Historian's video about them
Yeh I've tried every update and the game still feels quite hollow to me - the gameplay just isn't really very fun - but you have to applaud the dedication and love that HG have continued to pour into the game.

It's amazing how far $60M can go when it's going to a passionate indie team and not to a public mega corp whose executive makes at least as much per year. Look how long they've continued development, sustaining themselves on the massive launch 8 years ago and continued sales because of these huge free updates and growth onto newer platforms. In an era of $70 base games with $20+ skins and multiple $20-40 battle passes, this is the sort of game we should all be supporting. This is how gaming should be.
The fact this game hasn't won Labor of Love yet is infuriating. Especially when it lost to goddamn *Red Dead* of all fucking things not that long ago. Rigged nonsense bullshit.
Yeah, it's how games used to be before all the useful idiots started supporting the crap EA pulled, then other publishers caught on and now it's a norm with micro transactions, season passes, and battles passes. And the base game always feel unfinished. The industry won't go back to how things were before so long as the sheep keep behaving as sheep
I bought no mans sky a couple years ago, and it truly is a remarkable game. Sends you to another world and is like minecraft universe traveler, but more exciting. And I've only played it on the switch, going to get it for ps4 today because I've been waiting forever.
Picked up another copy and sent it to a friend even though he may not play it .This is the kind of developer that is worth supporting .Even after a shaky start the team have redeemed themselves and should be rewarded
I’m convinced that HG is receiving help from extraterrestrials with these updates. How can an Indie team consistently put out work that is better than most AAA studios?
I got the team at Hello Games some pizzas when they were going through some really bad reviews and I felt for them. Best pizza donation I ever made. It's still paying off. 😊
i never comment but wanted to take the time to show support and say these guys are the real deal. to fall and get back up to not only run, but fly. true passion and care for the art and its observer.
Hello Games is one of the VERY few developers I believe when they say "we're excited and passionate about what we're creating." It's been seven years almost to a day since I bought NMS and started playing, and you still manage to surprise with a new thing. Thank you.
They’ve never quit, when they had all the reason in the world to, they dug deep and have just delivered quality update after quality update. I can’t wait to play Light No Fire, and any other future game they develop.

Congratulations Sean, I hope No Man's Sky forever continues to be a passion project of Hello Games, because the game industry needs more passion with how companies are treated nowadays (embraced, expanded, extinguished).
Embrace, Extend Extinguish. This was a wonderful comment that matches my sentiments. The team have done brilliant work to redeem the game and Sean and the team put up with a lot of crap along the way. Great redemption arc.
@@kevinwebster7868 It is. People think that adding new biomes or animals will change anything when the game has zero actual quests and real storytelling. Props to the person that did the editing on this video. Sean's voice over on the scenes and their transitions is perfect. The music is used perfectly. I also loved the little look into the studio. A lot of hard work that you don't really notice. You simply enjoy watching it.
I was sold on the hype for NMS from day 1. I saw Sean's passion and vision, and believed in him. While I don't think the product we have today would've been possible without Sony, I also think they nearly killed it before it could blossom. They forced the small studio to put out an incomplete version of what they described and wanted to publish. Luckily, after meeting this criteria, and later opening up to PC and Xbox, they gained enough freedom, time and funding to not only bring to fruition what was originally promised, but many many times beyond that. They've overdelivered so many times, and every time the content is free to all owners. It's truly incredible.
It was on PC from beginning. I played it on launch day, with an AMD GPU and the game was pretty flawless actually, thanks to consoles using similar AMD gpu libraries. Nvidia drivers had issues for first weeks. Game was limited, but did exactly the exploration it said on the box and very well. You could sit in the rain on a lonely mountain, in a planet no other person alive has ever seen, and listen to the rain hit the roof of your ship. It was very desolate, but also very freeing as an open world game that isn't really rivaled today.
After everything, this game has been through, the fact that he still has such love in his eyes when he talks about it is admirable. You done good Sean. You done good

Applying new tech retrospectively to a game is something I don't think I have EVER seen any other game developers do. The continue support NMS is receiving is just on another level. Thank you HELLO!
Usually us devs dont have the investor backing that Sean did. We get paid by a client and if the funding stops, so do updates. He got a smashing amount of funding and it looks like he still does. Which is wonderful and keeps cool things coming.
KSH's Space Engineers did the very same thing. They developed planetary tech for their other game (Medieval Engineers) and then applied it to Space Engineers.

Hey there Sean, been playing No Man's Sky since day 1 in 2016 and have been looking at the progress and growth the game have made throughout the year. Words can't describe how grateful i am that you and your team cared about NMS. Thank you Sean!
There’s a reason that us day one players have stuck with the game since 2016. That reason is faith in Hello Games. Thank you Sean and the team, you’ve never cease to blow us away. Fantastic job. ❤
Day one player, honestly I was super disappointed at launch, and then Waking Titan happened. At that point I knew this game was gonna be something else, we just had to let the HG team work on it in their own way.
I had it day 1 on PC as well, I still enjoyed playing despite all the hate it was given at the time, it did not bother me I just enjoyed the game and still do. It is amazing that all of these updates have cost us nothing despite the massive improvements and additions over time. This new one looks awesome but I am still waiting for Light No fire as well.
I had it day 1 on pc too and NMS was better than i expected. I never saw a sci-fi game with this exploration level before where players can explore entire planets. I just wished this big update had to be the first because it gives another level to immersion and makes us explore more and more. The exploration before was sometimes cool and sometimes boring because it was very repetitive and massive but was refreshing when i discovered another earth like planets and go there explore a little to see some fauna, flora and islands.
Preordered. I was always cool with what the game was, honestly the first week was probably the coolest week of gaming that whole generation because of the feeling of unknown.
I was a child at day one launch, barely in my double digits (13), and I remember that despite the game not living up to what it had promised at launch I was still enamored with its infinite exploration. I played it for a few hundred hours then left it and returned for every major update because I knew the game had a great deal of potential, definitely wasn't let down.
Over the years, we have received wonderful content for the game from the entire team. I would like to thank the whole team and you, Sean. Thanks to No Man's Sky, I overcame suicidal thoughts. Greetings from Poland. ❤
Sean Murray you hero. I'm hoping that after Worlds Part 2 there can be a mini update called "Control", in which joystick support is added, and we can easily switch between VR controllers and Joystick/HOTAS. Even the ability to use the Quest's right thumbstick as the joystick while flying would be a big improvement.
Every update for me is big. I've been playing from the beginning and to watch this game evolve past what was expected is just great! Always something new to see every update.

As someone who has enjoyed this game since the first day release, I am so amazed at how much this game has developed. What surprises me about NMS is that I keep dipping back into it. It's a universe you can visit from time to time to see how it's evolved. I get immersed in discovery, and then extract myself for a while, knowing I'll be back soon. In that sense, it's unlike any other game I've ever played and probably will ever play again.

It's my favourite game of the last 10 years. There have been objectively better games, but none of them keep me coming back. I just get the hankering to go and visit all my old bases again and see if they've been reclaimed by the earth of whatever planet they are on. It's like coming home.

I am so glad to see just how much you guys have stuck with this game and how much your love for it has managed to bring it to the point it is at now. I changed my mind on it about 5 years ago and started to love playing the game and getting lost in it and it has only consistently gotten better with every update.
Hello Games team and Sean, I want to thank you so much for 8 years of amazing updates. All for free, excelent community support and passion. One of the games that will be forever in my heart. ❤️
I love this company a lot. Hello Games is a great example for any company regarding the industry how to make it right from your mistakes, how to improve your company or product to become better . Kudos for their hard work and improvements. For me this is what is real AAA company should be. One of the best Video game company out there. Keep rocking guys cant wait for their next journey.
I've been playing No Man's Sky on and off since launch, and it's absolutely unreal the work Hello Games has put into the game and how far it's come since then. It's an absolutely breathtaking game in so many regards, not least of all playing in VR and being "inside" the universe 🤯 For a good while now every time I load up the game to play I'm constantly amazed and impressed. It's one thing when HG were able to say the game looked like the original pre-release trailers, but now? It's way beyond that. The Worlds update looks like it's just going to continue pushing those boundaries and building upon the game we know and love... Can't wait for the next expedition (and hope to get another chance to play the ones I missed out on at some point). To everyone at Hello Games, thank you ❤
'It's called Worlds Part 1 because there's much more to come.' Oh, my heart.
With how much was put into the planets themselves in this part, I have a feeling part 2 will be a big POI overhaul.
Not saying these updates haven't been incredible as it is, but I think a whole range of new, expansive POIs is something that would really compliment part 1, and is the next big overhaul the game needs.
@@Aussie_Tomagreed. The update with the villages helped but all the other POI just don't feel special, especially because there's not much variety

"When we started No Man's Sky, you know, I wanted people to feel like they had stepped into the cover of a science fiction novel" Looking at the gameplay on screen when Sean says this, you've definitely succeeded at this! Amazing job!
Greatest story in video game history!
Cyberpunk is no longer broken, but nowhere close to living up to its expectations. NMS exceeded their promises a while ago now...
Hello Games is using all knowledge they acquired making NMS in the creation of Light No Fire and they are now using the new tricks they learned developing that game back in No Man's Sky.
That is how a *_real_* game devs should work: not by betting in "live services" or microtransactions, but by focusing in what is truly important: making a good game and supporting it.
exactly my thoughts when he said "we're bringing these tech back in the future" Hello Games, Larian, FromSoft are the only few Devs that are genuine and passionate in creating games
the other crook companies should take Hello Games as a case study and apply it if they want real concrete success forever, where the Player feels they owe it to the developer, I buy a copy of NMS now with every Update and give it to who has yet to play it......... would never do this for any other game.
@@elymXI would add rockstar to that list
After RDR2 - this easily takes the place for the favourite game of my lifetime. After the initial learning curve, exactly THIS is what I imagined a truly open world with free exploration would be like. Thank you for the continuous effort man. Much love from Rajasthan in India, where I even use this game to teach underserved children the vast extents of space!
I'm glad you love it so much, am I doing something wrong? I love space, i love survival games but the survival mode seems so broken progression wise. Have they fixed this lately or am I going about it the wrong way? Alot of the grind feels pointless as there is nothing to go do with my new stuff that I couldnt before.
This journey is one of the best experiences I have had through computer games. Thanks to you for this ❤
IT'S HERE
I got chills watching this. Eight years in and the game is going from strength to strength. Mad respect for you and the team there... Thank you. :)
Thankyou very very much Sean and the team, Aku harap kalian selalu berhasil kelak. Mahakarya mu luar biasa.
I am excited every time hello games releases a video
Not gonna lie, one of the best soundtracks out there. Peaceful beautiful adventurous
This is bringing tears, I swear, you and the team have come so far, learned so much and brought so much happiness to all of us. You're a blessing in this time were video games have become nothing but money machines for big corporations. A heart felt thank you Sean and Hello Games!
Me too.
I started playing about a month ago and this week moved over to Aquarius Expedition. Having so much fun exploring worlds, managing my fleet and tending to my settlement. I couldn't believe it when I found out Hello Games is based in my home town (Guildford). I've completed the main and most of the secondary quests, but it's definitely a game you can easily return to and enjoy.
Sean Murray's excitement translates through this video very well. This is awesome!
I don’t play much anymore but always tune in for these updates for a few days or weeks, but mostly to see Sean’s passion so clearly coming through his eyes when he’s talking about these developments. You can tell this man holds a very big and special place in his heart for this game.
You guys are an example to be followed, you started weird, now you nailed it so many times there's nothing to nail anymore but you keep going. Thank you for the dedication, NoManSky is on of the best of the past decade and beyond.
No Man's Sky is a game that has everything I dreamed of, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my childhood dreams of traveling to the stars come true. Space doesn't choose, choose No Man's Sky from Now. I highly recommend it.
Sean, I cannot thank you enough! Not only does my current home planet now look ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, but also my original base, the very first Praxeum Spaceport, has now been unburied from the warped space nylium it was stuck in. The old Prax is officially back up and running, thank you Sean, thank you! Rockatoa, Brickticks out!
Which is wonderful and keeps cool things coming.
lol never seen a game
Plenty of games have done it. Look at World of Warcraft tech and graphics when it released vs today.
Ever heard of a game called Fortnite?
KSH's Space Engineers did the very same thing. They developed planetary tech for their other game (Medieval Engineers) and then applied it to Space Engineers.
My dear dear Hello Games - 6+ years of playing and you delight and surprise constantly. This looks absolutely amazing and I cannot WAIT to play. I play other games but none bring the joy, delight, relaxation and happiness that I get playing NMS. My gratitude for your art and leadership in this industry. You give hope, and model magic.
What an amazing team! Thank you guys for all your hard work!
Sean you handome bastard. Dont you dare to stop expanding NMS. Its so amazing that you barely scrapped the surface of NMS potential.
At som.e point they will leave it. New projects on the way, you know
@@nustiu6841 we can wish it would last a bit longer. It certainly doesn't sound they'd end it anytime soon
@@nustiu6841 But that's the thing he mentioned. By working on a new project, they are actually able to improve the old one, as i believe new game will be prob on a same engine-ish. It's a win-win, as we get new game on a way, and updates for a old one.
@@EmpEcropEco They have literally created an entire universe, it is a game that can contain any type of game you want to create, each planet could have a different game on its surface, there is no point in making other games when they have a game that can continue to develop infinitely
@@APMI-OFICIALThe biggest limiting factor is and will be the engine. At some point they will need to create a new one or heavily improve the existing one in order to continue what they're doing. At that point it would make sense to make NMS 2.0. Maybe. IDK.
I cant believe how far you guys have come with NMS, should be proud 100%, and completely forgiven for its launch 8 years ago
Thank you HG. I don't know if someone cut some onions nearby, but I'm tearing up here. NMS is such a wonderful game, and been part of my life for 8 years. It keeps on changing, getting better and better. Love it. Thank you.
Frickin started bawling. I'm glad I'm not the only one.
I am frankly impressed with Hello Games. After the (well deserved) beatings they took for that misshaped lump they released all the way back in 2016. They've really pulled through. The amount of work they've put into the game is frankly amazing. A lot of other devs would just have put in a token effort and then moved on. But they stuck to it.
So well done. Your work ethic is astounding.
Hello Games is the example of how game dev should be. They truly love what they do and their passion is reflected in their art.
No Man's Sky is a work of art, love, care, passion and respect.
I have to agree. they arent really making money from these updates, and theyve done so many of them now.
@Diabolus_Musica wait, I genuinely have a question for you. if you dislike this game so much, why do you join comment sections on videos relating to the subject and hate on it? do you just hate-watch things absent-mindedly? what drives you to be purposely inflammatory? do you just like being snarky?
@Diabolus_Musica get over yourself. They have proved that they give a shit. Stop dwelling on the negative and applaud the positive.
You view the world through hate.
Take that Boston B off your profile, you are unworthy of it.
@@Diabolus_Musica listen kiddo, MANY games devs have disastrous launches and NEVER even fix their games to a fully working state. Hello Games not only did this, but they have transformed the game with amazing new updates over many years. To still beat them up for the bad launch at this point is just petty childishness They have redeemed themselves many times over.
As someone who has enjoyed this game since the first day release, I am so amazed at how much this game has developed. I used to spend so much time playing in the early days when there wasn't much to do, and now it feels like a brand new game again. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU Sean, and the rest of the Hello Games team. You guys are truly the best development team out there. No other company would continuously give out these huge (FREE) updates 8 years after release. Keep it up guys.
I just want to say thank you for this beautiful game. The Worlds update is amazing, everything is awesome. I can tell it is truly a labor of love for you. Thank you all so much.
Aka...you check it out, realize it's still boring as hell then forget about it and play literally anything else.
Nice attempt as buttering up the truth tho
@@Fivemacs man, you should've learned by now that projecting your own feelings and being all pissy is childish and embarrassing for everyone
It's my favourite game of the last 10 years. There have been objectively better games, but none of them keep me coming back. I just get the hankering to go and visit all my old bases again and see if they've been reclaimed by the earth of whatever planet they are on. It's like coming home.
@@Fivemacs I bought this at launch and loved it straight away. The reasons I loved it then haven't changed. I said back then in my Steam review, playing this is not about any goal or points... it's more of a feeling. Some people get it and some people don't, and that's just fine.
I have been playing since day 1 and still with every update getting so excited. This time for some reason watching this and listening to Sean talking made me emotional 😢. I love this game so much and its community ❤️
Thanks to NMS I started looking at the night sky much more often and just appreciating its beauty, and I also developed a love for Sci-fi I thought I'd never have
If you can, buy a decent telescope. It's amazing what you will see out there that you can't see with your naked eyes. I wish more people would because it's actually one of the biggest most awesome reality checks ever.
Insane that a game in 2024 can do that, I'm so proud of them it honestly brings a tear to my eye.
His face shows his real passion for the game. Keep up the good work. Your game has giving me a new feeling when playing it. I feel excited about playing again. Thank you for that!
Sean looks so proud of what he and the team have created here - as he damn well should be. Absolutely incredible job, as we've come to look forward to every time!
There's something about this game, this studio, this vision, that makes me emotional. It's truly beautiful seeing No Man's Sky surpass itself, year after year, update after update. Well done-once again-and thank you from the bottom of my heart! ♥
I played for the first time on stream tonight. I bought the game for 50% off and I’m glad I did. It’s super fun and I’ve barely scratched the surface!
I recently watched The Internet Historian's video on No Man's Sky. After seeing that and coming to this, I can see why HelloGames has become one of the most beloved studios in recent years. It's a shame that so much publicity brought the studio so much pressure that it fell to its knees. But instead of letting it defeat you, you guys got up, dusted yourselves off and kept on going until it turned into the game you envisioned - and probably so much more! It's nothing short of fascinating, and also a very heart-warming story. Keep being awesome, guys!
Now, it's time for me to finally jump into this game, as it's been sitting in my Steam Library for a couple of years with 0 hours played. Watching this video has me excited for my next adventure!
Man this game, what a treat. I remember doing a podcast pre release called No Man’s Cast. I can not believe how much positive change this game has gone through.
The community is just so wholesome.
From one game dev to another cheers! You guys are awesome ❤
Why so much love, Sean? We don't deserve it... Or maybe we do, but you deserve all our admiration. No studio has ever done what you have accomplished! Now, the game is just as we had hoped from the start. We know it wasn't possible back then, but you never gave up, never!!! We have nothing but respect and admiration for you. THANK YOU ❤❤❤
IT IS NOT AAA STUDIO!!!!!! 😮
May have to dive back into this! This looks incredible!
as someone who was one of the haters 8 years ago when this came out. I am so glad to see just how much you guys have stuck with this game and how much your love for it has managed to bring it to the point it is at now. I changed my mind on it about 5 years ago and started to love playing the game and getting lost in it and it has only consistently gotten better with every update.
They did it, the crazy sons of bitches did it. We're so proud of you Hello Games!!
They done good! Real good!
It's an absolutely breathtaking game in so many regards, not least of all playing in VR and being "inside" the universe 🤯
For a good while now every time I load up the game to play I'm constantly amazed and impressed.
