I hope to never see that slow NA 3.6 or 4.0 again. They’re not as reliable as many make them out to be and can’t get out of their own way. These new 4cyl turbo hybrid tacomas make more power than the last Tundra V8 and get twice the fuel economy lol.
Well unfortunately, Nissan is known for other gremlins, and, NOT known for high mileage trouble free dependability, like Toyota! Now I agree, this new gen 4 Tacoma was a MASSIVE mistake by Toyota, but there’s plenty of gen 3’s with the dependable V6 or 4 cyl, and dependable transmissions available! I think they will get the kinks worked out, and hopefully bring back the non turbo options in the very near future, it’s what the people want!!
When made in texas, it was good. 17 bucks an hour for labor. Now made in Mexico with labor costs less than 3 bucks an hour. Price went up over 20% and reliability has dropped, go figure!
@jeanclaude7018 Don't know why they would say that. Especially the Japanese part. Some Tacomas were still made through 2021 in San Antonio. Then they all moved to Mexico making room for the new Sequoia alongside the Tundra.
I like the looks of the new Tacoma. That said, I’ll happily keep my 2016. It runs almost as good as the day I purchased it with cash. Never had a problem. I looked at the new ones, I looked at the sticker price. I immediately replaced my stock suspension, new brakes plugs and trans fluid and filter. Probably good for another 100K. I can afford any truck I want. I don’t however like feeling like a fool after I drive my new truck off the lot! I absolutely love passing by dealers with a glut of new trucks piling up on their lots.
I would rather it have a 2.0 naturally aspirated 4cyl. With 150hp and a manual transmission with roll up windows and a basic screen for the back up camera and none of the unnecessary stuff.
There aren't many for sale where I live in North Florida. The reduction in sales is mostly due to Toyota ramping up production over the 1st half of the year, there simply weren't many available to sell during the 1st and 2nd quarters. Now that they are at full production sales are increasing drastically, as this video states at the beginning.
JFC! $40k for a 4 door Tacoma with a breadbox bolted on the back? I'll be keeping my 2003 Tacoma EXcab, thank you very much. IMHO, it's probably the best truck Toyota's ever made.
That pricing is insane. I bought a 2021 Tacoma SR5 4x4 V6 for $33k new. The TRD Off Road was $37k. I thought the pricing was still high back then. Looks like they're following Fords footsteps, which isn't working out for Ford in the least.
Cherry picked data, there was a slow roll out due to manufacturing ramp up in a new facility, go look at the monthly numbers, currently selling at a comparable pace on A monthly basis to last year. Whole lot of deliberate misinformation for clicks in this video.
Totally correct. In Denver you can't find one on the lot at a dealership. They are selling out faster than they can get them. I have one and love it! This FOOL and this channel is garbage. He rips on it yet he still paid a premium for it🤡. At least I can hit the "Don't recommend channel" and never see this garbage again!
@@jerplane400here in Georgia, there are tons on lots. Even the service manager where I bought my ‘17 TRD OR 4x4 V6 manual told me to stay the hell away from the new ones because of the transmission. I wanted to trade up, now I don’t know what to do.
@@christianbearden28 Thing about Toyota is the lean production. They find a problem, address it and the problem is fixed, production continues. There is info about the batch numbers that were affected. After that, no issues. Mine is NOT in the affected batches and I have had zero issues. Crazy, in Colorado, the lots are full of 3rd Gens that have been traded in.
Here in SD, dealers are easily adding $10K in markups for their tacomas, 4Runner and sequoias. Was in the market to buy a tacoma but gave up and bought the frontier pro4X V6 instead. Love the 6 cylinder engine and saved $20K + compared to the trailhunter.
It's just like everything else. Tacos started out as a utilitarian vehicle. Off road, premium package, tech package, limited, pro, blah blah blah.... Before you know it... The truck really isn't a Tacoma anymore...and somehow some of them are 60k. I'm a Tacoma owner and I'm glad I got an affordable Poverty package truck. Prices are outrageous and all the unnecessary crap packed into these things is driving people away from the taco
Shame on Toyota of Japan and Toyota USA for letting this happen. Heads should roll. Complete overhaul of manufacturing processes should happen. But it won't happen. Absolutely unthinkable reliability and quality issues for this once legendary brand. This scenario is not unique to Toyota. Many manufacturers have this with new models yet we continue to buy them. Do you really want to roll the dice for reliability while spending over $50000.00 ? Read that statement again. And again. Do you as a consumer have that much money to be potentially throwing it away on junk? If you do, unfortunately you have more money than brains. If we as consumers just keep buying vehicles that are being manufactured as a disposable commodity by the manufacturers, they will never improve the quality of what they produce- never. Manufacturers count on the fact that most will buy a new car every few years so there is no need to build longevity into models. Good luck with any improvement in quality bc Americans are car crazy and always have to buy the latest and the greatest. I used to get really excited about new models. Now the only thing that comes to mind is '... I wonder how many issues this car is going to have ?' Good luck to anyone who buys a new Tacoma.
I had a 2005 Tacoma and a 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport. I looked at the new Tacoma but decided to buy a 2024 Honda ridgeline Ridgeline Black Edition. It drives so much better, and the price cost less.
Needed to replace my 2001 Tacoma PreRunner. Test drove the 2.4L turbo Tacoma and the Nissan Frontier 3.8L V6. No contest, I bough the Nissan. Toyota was offering absolutely 0 incentives, Nissan had LOTS. Also, the Tacoma reliability issues were too worrisome. Sad that Toyota has finally gone the North American/domestic route in terms of high price and poor quality.
I'm a huge fan of Toyota. My Tundra sitting in garage right now. How ever will not buy current tocoma. toyota has decided to make it in Mexico. Big mistake as far as im concerned. My tundra 2021 last of V8 MADE IN USA
Not a fan of the new Tacoma. If I was shopping this segment, I would purchase a Colorado Trail Boss or ZR2. At least GM's 2.7L has diesel-like torque and no hybrid complications.
Toyota, please make the transmissions and diffs out of metal instead of paper mache, and also please put a na v6 back in instead of the turbo crapper. Until then you’re literally selling trucks for Nissan.
That backseat is still outright insulting. I was so thoroughly disappointed with the ‘24 release-coupled with the nosedive in powertrain quality, and no thanks.
This is exactly why I purchased my 2023 Tacoma Sport a year ago! $3000 off list and 4% loan. Baaaammmm!!!! 4 Cylinder?....4 Cylinder? I don't need no Stinkin..4 Cylinder!!
Only issue with the new Tacoma is it is over priced and has gone down hill reliability wise. Nissan has the most reliable truck in the mid-size market. The Toyota Camry on the other hand is the most reliable vehicle on the market IMO:P
@jeanclaude7018 I really don't know. I asked him if he needed help. He said help was on the way. I kept going, but he did have his hood up. I don't know if that means anything.
Kudos to the new Tacomas Rivian looks and size (almost as big as F150). Why don’t you mention the Nissan Frontier? Out here in HOnolulu, a Toyota stronghold, it seems most of the new trucks driving around are Nissan. I paid $42K list price October 2022 for mid trim SV 4x4 with tech and convenience pkg and very happy with the V6 and quietness of the truck.
The Ford Ranger is a lot better option, also, US should have a diesel version just like here in Argentina, that would destroy the competition out there.
It has nothing to do with reliability. This isn’t the first time Toyota has released a Tacoma with issues. They aren’t selling them because old people are scared of technology or just plain stupid and gullible and most young people can’t afford them. Once the prices come down and the boomers die off, they’ll be just as popular as the other Tacomas. I absolutely love my TRD Off-road Hybrid. Best truck I’ve owned so far and I’ve owned almost every midsize truck available over the last decade.
Except this generation has internal bump stops with the aluminum top hats that will explode. Also no proper external trans intercooler. This isn't a new model issue. Just underbuilt design.
It's not new, but even German cars with their doubly absurd over-engineering don't tend to crash and burn this badly in the first model year. Multiple engine issues, now transmission issues, and I've even seen hybrid system issues in one of these with 6k miles. Honda has been going down this road for at least the past decade. Looks like it's Toyota's time now.
My neighbor somehow purcahsed a 2020 Toyota Hilux and registered it as a Tacoma 2 years ago. He purcahsed a 2022 FJ Cruiser and rwgistered it as a 2014.....dont know how he did it but he did.
I still can't believe how bad they screwed that tacoma up. Wheel offsets are horrible, Engine (no comment needed), panel gaps are bad and QC is gone. Seems like they built this truck for little kids to play on.

Turbocharged V6
I want 6 speed manual transmission in it
Nah they should put back the 22R engine no A/C no windows long bed just basic under 20k
