Franc Kuzma contacted me and told me a trick! You can access 78rpm on the later Stabi R models. Just press start and keep pressing it and the internal computer will start to rotate at 78rpm (both 33rpm and 45rpm light up). FANTASTIC!! *Forgot to mention this is a BELT-DRIVE turntable! 🤦♂️
Congratulation. The Stabi R 4Point is a fabulous combination. Having set up dozens of 4Points, let me point out one thing to watch carefully. You’ll find that the tracking force reading you get with a scale is very sensitive to the height of the measuring surface of the scale, so make sure it’s sitting at precisely the same level as the record surface. When the measuring surface is raised higher, the tracking force reading will decrease significantly, resulting in you adding too much downforce. Just a heads up.
Totally awesome piece of engineering, she's a beauty Guido...hope you can sooner than later get the 12 incher. i know what your saying about the EMT, there are followers and then there are pioneers way ahead of their times in all sectors and they were the leader way ahead of the game. This is absolutely my next TT upgrade. I currently am using a Stabi S with the 4Point9 (which is awesome) and would move the 4Point9 over to the Stabi R.
Congratulations on your purchase. Two years ago I bought Kuzma Stabi 2 1987(second hand) which is also a unique vintage peice of equipment. Frank Kuzma creates unique peices genarally speaking, be sure that this turntable will last forever. Over the last dacades there are not turntable manifactures they have achieved to create a high value for money turtables like Frank does. That’s quite a bit of money 💰 for a slight difference. For that price I personally would demand a significant difference between what already own & the upgrade. At $8,000.00 to $9,500,00 price was that with the tonearm or without? If not, how much was the tonearm?
I agree! I always try to get used gear or a great price...in any case the tonearm is apart, I wrote the price in the second part of the video, it depends from the cable, the tonearm is 5/6K
@@anadialog . . . the thing with the love of audio or anything that has higher developed quality you have to pay the cost to be the boss. You’ll have to play some tune, I want to get a lit’l idea 💡 of it awesomeness. Keep sharing my brother.
Good question! (which I should have paused on). At this level, absolutely nothing. And if obviously I can hear a few differences between each model, the tonearm is always different so it is hard to attribute any sonic differences based on traction type. That is also why in my opinion you do need a good turntable but not a fantastic turntable.
I subscribed today after watching this and a few other of your vids because you didn’t bs me with “high end (priced) audio” babble. Price:performance ratio is critical. Is there a real case to be made for a $250,000 turntable? I can’t see it. But there are manufacturers and “reviewers” who will tell you with a straight face that it’s a bargain at that price!
Very nice TT and tonearm! I have two Kuzma 313 tonearms in my TR, and I love them! I’ve compared to several other tonearms (Ikeda, Jelco, Ortofon, Osyris, Grovemaster, Calista), and Kuzma was for me the best one!! Which cartridge are you using?
Ths was excelent. The question for me is the comparison to the 1200G-is the Technics in that class where it is held back only by the arm? This leaves aside whether the one should go belt drive or not?I'd love a Kuzma E or SME 15 (hell I'd like a Brinkman( but wondering how that KUzma 4 point or a SME IV/V would be on the 1200G?I am thinking that now the 1200G might be not only the most bang for the buck combo (at a Rega 8 rice point) but als an attainable base to put a $5000 arm and $5000 cartridge .But really what you have is one of the nicest decks made.Congratulations
The base will always have its sound character and should not be treated as a "transparent" thing. A 4-point on 1200g will sound like a 4-point on a 1200g, not like a 4-point on a perfect base. Personally, I'd never go in that direction.
the platter is aluminum and appears belt driven.. what are the real world specs and what is the body and tone arm contructed from.. it looks like some sort of plastic resin in the video?
You're right! I didn't mention it's belt driven! How stupid of me, sorry about that. Its all aluminum, tonearm included! Specs are very few, here: www.kuzma.si/stabi-r-world-premiere-munchen-2018.html
The Technics was excellent for being a Direct Drive but the tonearm wasn't very good plus most platters are not done precisely, they wobble. Mine just a little bit. The EMT is better and and Kuzma even more better.
Great stuff. Have you also considered the Sikora standard? Can also be used with Kuzma tonearms. I am not sure if I should use a standard tonearm or aim for tangential tracking...
Thanks for the review. I’m considering this turntable but it doesn’t (from your review) seem like the gain in sonics justifies the cost (maybe just the tonearm).
My initial impression was the thing sounded like master tape. Now, nearing break-in, the thing continues to impress with the same impression, just less tight as when it was new. This component has become my reference cartridge. Ciao.
It is, especially now that I got things right and added a decoupling board. In all ways. Turntables in all their aspects have all the final goal to make that cartridge get as much out from those grooves as possible and in the correct way. A quality table and arm do amazing things!
Very nice turntable. Guido, can you tell us how the decision came to Stabi R? Did you consider Stabi reference 2 or Stabi M? If I was ever to replace my Michell Gyro, I'd certainly go for some of the higher-end Kuzma tables as well.
WOW! What a beauty! Did you risk getting a hernia when you lifted it out of the carton? 36 kg is no joke!! Is the arm carbon fibre? It looks like it. What cartridge is fitted. A really high quality moving coil I hope. You didn't mention the price, but I don't want you to divulge it.
Yes, it's very heavy!! Insanely heavy. The arm is aluminium. The cart is soon to be reviewed, it's a truly magical cart! I wrote the price in the video...you missed that part!
Hi Guido, a little bit late but congratulations, how do think the technics + a better tonearm like the luz la would fare against the Kuzma pack? Thanks
I wonder how it compares to my Pro-Ject 6 Perspex magnetic suspension turntable fitted with a Hadcock uni-pivot tonearm and Denon DL-110 cartridge. Total price about $1, 700.00
Meh your 1200G and EMT were nicer. Sorry dude, but I think you got lost in exotic looking designs. What's the effective mass of the tonearm you've got there?
@@GlaciaDay No, but Guido here has. Have you? Plus, there's nothing really exotic about Franz Kuzma's turntable designs. Just really good engineering and high quality materials and execution. Frankly, you give off an impression of a butthurt fanboy. Chill, Tehcnics 1200G is still a good table. Just not as good as Kuzma.

Do you think there is good as sota turntable or SME? Or should I say the sound characteristics. Not good having mains connected to turntable can you upgrade it to a 24V AC motor I'm assuming that motor is mains?
I haven't tested them in my system but generally speaking Kuzma is up there, especially with the higher models. The PSU separation is a little of a mystery to me because more and more high end brands are putting it back inside...strange. The kuzma has a DC motor that should be heavily isolated inside the aluminum block...
@@anadialog sounds strange if it's a DC motor why would you have the mains connected to the unit ?? don't see the logic or the sense in that, does it have a ferrite bead for EMI RF cancellation on the mains cable? that's the thing you got to put a lot of shielding inside the unit and even then and magnetic fields and other interferences can permeate, it means it has to have a transformer what produces noise through vibration don't see the logic.
You had a high end turntable already the technics 1200g guy!
I did consider Sicora, they are Polish I think. Great company but a little to big and flashy fpr my taste. I wasn't able to test performance...
check out the new EMT 909 tonearm!
Great table, what phono stage are you using?
Upcoming in a future video...
Very nice, BUT it's one I could never afford. It would be nice to spin some Lps with!
Thanks for the review. I’m considering this turntable but it doesn’t (from your review) seem like the gain in sonics justifies the cost (maybe just the tonearm).
Yes, and that applies fpr most high-end products, especially turntables IMHO.
Can we assume a review of the Kiseki Purple Heart is in your/our future?
Absolutely yes!
My initial impression was the thing sounded like master tape. Now, nearing break-in, the thing continues to impress with the same impression, just less tight as when it was new. This component has become my reference cartridge. Ciao.
So it’s better sounding than your Technics 1200G? But in what way?
It is, especially now that I got things right and added a decoupling board. In all ways. Turntables in all their aspects have all the final goal to make that cartridge get as much out from those grooves as possible and in the correct way. A quality table and arm do amazing things!
Which phono pre-amp are you using with the Kuzma?
Right here: ua-cam.com/video/JwaQCANdZ0c/v-deo.html
Very nice turntable. Guido, can you tell us how the decision came to Stabi R? Did you consider Stabi reference 2 or Stabi M? If I was ever to replace my Michell Gyro, I'd certainly go for some of the higher-end Kuzma tables as well.
Very nice indeed but I preferred my wta ❤❤❤❤
Hello, how would you compare the Kuzma Stabi R/4Point 9 and the Technics 1200 G? Would you say the Kuzma is superior in all aspects? Thank you.
It is but as claimed, not miles ahead so for the price Technics wins!
the Kuzma and the EMT, both excellent turntables, but what happened to the technics?
High performance Japanese tech not for him I guess.
The EMT saw the Technics off. He said it in his EMT video.
@Nicholas I preferred the Dual 1019 above all.
I sold it a few months ago
@@anadialog Thanks for the comments. Odd that I missed the price, but never mind!
Yup, right at the beginning 1:51
Hi Guido, a little bit late but congratulations, how do think the technics + a better tonearm like the luz la would fare against the Kuzma pack? Thanks
Probably a tie!
@@anadialog THAT says a lot about the technics, thanks for the reply
I wonder how it compares to my Pro-Ject 6 Perspex magnetic suspension turntable fitted with a Hadcock uni-pivot tonearm and Denon DL-110 cartridge. Total price about $1, 700.00
I am sure pretty good!
Meh your 1200G and EMT were nicer.
Sorry dude, but I think you got lost in exotic looking designs.
What's the effective mass of the tonearm you've got there?
Errr, no.
Have you heard all of them?
@@GlaciaDay Yes, but have you?
@@QoraxAudio Well, fair enough. But honestly speaking, giving the fact you are using a Concorde, I'm not sure if I should trust what you said.
What phono and cartridge do you use?
Right here: ua-cam.com/video/yVTNzF9fddQ/v-deo.html
It's really nice, but did you remortgage your house for that????????👍
it's ridiculous. Not a fan of Shremer either who simply dictates to the white coat class who are not very intelligent people obviously by the sums of money they drop for extreme marketing.
@@SPINNINGMYWHEELS777 yes it is ridiculous for the price, oh well...I'll just have to carry on buying vintage, I am happy with what I have so far 👍
@@grasssnake7190 hi, what vintage gear do you have, want, like,,?
@@paulwibb.8944 I'm getting all my hifi equipment back after over 25 years when I got rid of it all, I did keep all my Lp's, cd's, tapes and minidisc, I never had separates back then, it was too expensive when I was in my early 20s, I always had an all in one system, so now I have an Audio Technica AT-LP120X USB Manual Direct-Drive Turntable TC-K611S 3 HEAD CASSETTE DECK, PHILIPS F370 CASSETTE DECK, Sony CDP-XE510 CD Player, Sony 7.2ch Home Theatre AV Receiver STR-DN1080,
Cambridge audio speakers + subwoofer, Wharfedale speakers + subwoofer, I still have other equipment to get yet, it's a hobby I'm back into again, what about yourself, what do you have ???
@@grasssnake7190 wow,, you are ARE getting back into it,👍 good you kept all the music, I've been through lots of gear the last few yrs. Current tt is the michell hydraulic from the 1970s I believe,, ( the best decade, lol,, child of the 70s,😄)
A roksan K2 integrated amp, and the marantz 6006Uk,Ed. I have lots of cassettes mostly recorded from the radio back in the 90s, but have struggled to find a decent second hand deck, since regrettably selling a 3 head technics deck about 4 yrs back, forget the model now,, I do love the hifi scene, music and gear, what music you into.
you said it's ' above but JUST a notch' - what does that mean? how big is a notch?
I made example in the video. If my other turntable, the EMT is for example 8, the Kuzma is 9. Just one step above, meaning not much.
I think this could be upgraded to ideally low torque 24 volt AC motor. The best control system is the Phoenix engineering and The Roadrunner what is a tacho metre what Sota employe. Can be bought separately, made up from a kit
I don't know, but I know that a lot of manufacturers put their DC moter inside. Including Technics...but maybe I am missing the point 🤔
@@anadialog you mean put there transformers in not DC Motors? Genuinely DC Motors are quieter but have more cogging issues.
There's some good DC Motors out there depends which side of the fence you want to sit on. Ideally don't have the motor connected to the table at all is best
What is the wow and flatter of your table and noise flow?
Here are the published specs, not much:
www.kuzma.si/stabi-r-world-premiere-munchen-2018.html
Oh my God... quei fili dietro la testina sono sottilissimi!! Ricordo il mio economico Pro-ject debut carbon li aveva così fini... ovviamente qui siamo al livelli clamorosamente diversi... ma quei fli così sottili... :-O
...e delicati!!!
Please Guido do one special for the azimuth setting..,they also sell external clamp .
Hi there, you mean of this TT or in general?
@@anadialog hi man, I have a stogi s arm, do I have to buy a software and...? thank you very much.
Kuzma external clamp is interesting,
You mean the ring? Indeed, quite expensive and out of production now
No, I would start with this: ua-cam.com/video/v-YyKktxadg/v-deo.html
Did you get rid of your EMT?
Was gonna ask the same question
Did you watch the video?
@@zvonimirkomar2309 I know he’s still got it now I’ve watched it all
Nope still here...maybe it could get back in first position. The Kuzma is a little too expensive to be only one notch above...well see in the future
Have you ever considered a DS Audio cartridge?
I have. Optical cartrdiges are based on an old technology and now retrieved but the downsides are more than the benefits. There is a lot of hype on these but they have limitations. Maybe I will do a video in the future.
@@anadialog That would be very interesting since the 'old technology' developed in the last few years. Michael Fremer likes it a lot. And Holger Barske uses the smallest one in his reference system. Interested in your opinion.
Heck, i'd. be elated with a technics sl1200., nice Stabi
oh, the emt 938 is a much order machine...
Hai sostituito l'EMT? 😱
No hai guardato con attenzione il video! ;-)
No, no, l'EMT sta qui con me, ci mancherebbe!
DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If that turntable is a 9 that puts the Florence rt85 at about a 7.
If the Kuzma is a 9 what rating is the technics sl1200g?
Probably 7 or 6.
@@zvonimirkomar2309
Not too bad I was thinking maybe a 5 compared to the Kuzma , still a great table according to Fremer
@@gerardopadilla4393 Well, in his EMT video, he said, if EMT was 10, the Technics is 8, so yeah, it'd be 6 on this scale.
I just made an example, in any case following that example the Technics would be a notch below the EMT, so a nice 7.
@@anadialog
Maybe when you upgrade the cartridge you will notice another big difference that is a top notch turntable congrats 👏
Which Dynavector are you using?
The 20X2L
