    Love this wall. I believe my vertical boards have too much of a gap. I will see once I complete it. I will probably have to attach every horizontal board with a screw. I also used 1 x 12 x 6 boards to save a little cost.

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  2 роки тому +1

      Hi, I have used any where from 4 to 6 screws usually. Three screws on each side does pretty well. And some times if there's a gap between the boards, you can take them out and try them in a different order. I did have one board that gave me problems. I just used it at the bottom board. And yes, wood has gone up in price, good thinking!

    How heavy is the wooden backdrop of it has to be carried manually around?

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  Рік тому

      Hi, the backdrop is meant more to be broken down and setup at each event. So all together will be heavy if tried to pick up and move. That being said, I have had to do this once. We setup at an event and then they wanted it moved 10 ft over. Pshh, so me and another guy put some piece of cardboard under it and slid it together. Since it was screwed together it went smooth. But dont really recommend as it was risky. So it is best to take apart and move. Thanks

  • @1adidasas

    Thanks for the great video! Just making sure I understand. Do you unscrew the screws holding the horizontal boards each time you break it down? Same holes each time?

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  10 місяців тому

      I did because I feel safer and didn't mind it. But some have just added a hole for any bolt on the bottom and top. So you don't need a drill and just hand tighten the bolt each time.

    This is amazing! Mind sharing about how much would the cost in materials be specially wood only?

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  2 роки тому +1

      Hi thanks for watching. Pricing is really difficult since lumber prices are different depending on where you are located. I also built this originally over 2 yrs ago and pricing has changed for wood products tremendously. The most costly part will probably be the 1 x 10s solid pine wood. I would look those up in your area and that should give you an idea. Hope this helps, thank you.

    What paint sheen did you use? And did you topcoat the white paint with anything? Thanks! We’ve had ours built for a month but still haven’t painted or stained. May just seal the wood on one side because I like the lighter wood.

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  Рік тому

      Hi, I used behr exterior/ interior high gloss white paint. I did not add a top coat to the paint because I used high gloss which has a glossy top coat. If you do paint, make sure to prime the backdrop before painting as those wood knots over time want to shine through. Also, that is a good idea about just using sealer on the one side. I had thought about having two different stains on the backdrop, lighter and darker. The stain I used was minwax english chestnut I believe. But there are a lot of good stains it can be difficult to choose, lol. Good luck!

    For the horizontal panels you do recommend 1in x 6in x 8ft planks or 1 x 10in x 8ft planks?

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  2 роки тому +3

      I used the 10 in, but it depends on the style you are going for. 1 x 6 will work and give it a slightly different look. Some people prefer the skinner board style. I suggest looking up pictures and going for the style that you think fits your business best. Thanks

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  Рік тому

      Hi, yes I try to make sure to think of decor mindset first for the plans. That's why I haven't made some of my builds on Etsy because I feel they need to be made different before I add them to Etsy. Just like one of my candy carts on here. I get a lot of request for it but feel it is not ready yet and need to make lighter and easier to transport before I post it. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

    So do u nail in the same spot every event ? Or different ? And how many holes does it have now since u started using the wood back drop ? Are they noticable?

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  2 роки тому +1

      Hi thanks for watching. Yes I use the same spot on the post every time. I use 4 spots, one at the bottom, top and two in the center and it holds together strong. No you can not see the screws because it is small, not noticeable and blends well with rustic look. Even if I use the white wall on the other side. I still only use the screws on the wood rustic side, so the white side stays looking clean. We have used it with multiple events and no problem holding up. Just make sure to use the screws that wont go through to the other White side and its perfect. Thanks for commenting!

And yes always add a delivery/setup fee, in the beginning we did not and it was on us. We quickly added the delivery/setup fee and nobody really questioned and expected it. We were always upfront of all the costs when people would message. So do some research on your transportation cost, time, and what others in you area charge to get started. Thanks for watching!

    How much did you approximately spend?

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  Рік тому

      Hi, thanks for watching. I do not really have an estimate as I built this originally years ago before recent events have caused lumber to go up dramatically than maybe 2 years ago. Also depending on where you live, purchase lumber and the type of lumber available in your area the prices are different in all locations. For this build I used basic pine board as it is cheap and stains pretty good for the price.

    How much could you charge to sell one of these walls?

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  2 роки тому

      Hi sorry for the late reply, just saw your message. I do not sell these. If I were to sell these I would figure out what my product cost in material and then my time. But also take into account that not everybody is selling these and really only skilled wood workers build them, so that does increase the price. It takes less than a day to make but I will not just charge my time to a day as I feel I would be short changing myself compared to what others would charge to build and sell. Hope this makes sense as it is a skilled product that is being sold not just labor. I would research what others are selling similar items in your area as that would also give you a good starting point. Hope this helps, thank you for watching.

      Hi, sorry about that but you do not need an account. Please message the Etsy store maker decor with the order number or the email used to make the purchase. And I can send the plans there. But you need to message the Etsy website not the UA-cam.

    How Much would this cost?

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  Рік тому

      Hi, I wouldn't have a price as wood pricing has fluctuated so much do to recent world events these past two years. I originally made my backdrop before pricing for wood sky rocketed. I made mine very cheap compared to what today pricing of wood is. And no matter what price I put here it will change so much on the market and the time people read this comment. Thank you for watching!

    How did you make the wall support at the bottom?

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  2 роки тому

      Hi thanks for watching. The wall bottom support I just made it out of 2 x 8 piece of wood. Then placed the metal L bracket on one side. The other side was just cut from the left over of the 2 x 8 piece of wood. I cut it at an angle and used wood glue and screws from under and on top. I believe it definitely gave it some added strength and rigidity. Thanks for commenting!

      @@MakerDecor hey! The screws you placed in on top on the wood bottom support are they really long? where are they screwing into?
      Why did you do one side wood and one side metal support? How is the wood glue holding up?

    • @MakerDecor
      @MakerDecor  Рік тому +1

      @@karinamz1673 Hi, I believe you are talking about the bottom leg supports where I cut an angle of wood. The screws aren't long, they are 3 inch screws. And I screwed them at the bottom and top so they support it well especially with wood glue. And the original backdrop is probably over 2 years old and still doing great. The wood glue was rated for outdoor use as well. The reason I did the other side metal was just for the look. I wanted the front to look more rustic and I didn't want the metal plates. The other side was looking for a clean white wall look. So I just painted the metal L bracket. You can do either or both? Hope this helps!
