Lyrics:
When the Hammer Falls
Down in the deep,
Where the dragon used to sleep,
Glorious gold,
Glimmers in our home of old,
Dark as the night,
Where the day has lost its light,
When the hammer falls.
When the hammer falls,
And it sounds through the halls,
When the hammer falls,
Freeing treasures from the walls,
When the hammer strikes,
And the kingdom comes to life,
When the hammer pounds,
Like the thunder underground,
When the hammer falls,
When the hammer falls!
Of legend and myth,
Is the craft of the smith,
The molten metal poured,
And pounded into sword,
From the fire is made,
Every Dwarven axe and blade,
When the hammer falls.
When the hammer falls,
Forging weapons for all,
When the hammer falls,
Songs of battle fill the halls,
When the hammer flies,
Lines of armored Dwarves arise,
With the hammer’s roar
We go marching off to war!
When the hammer falls,
When the hammer falls!
The orcs came to our land,
And we fought them hand to hand.
Sweat and blood,
Turned the ground to mud,
Dwarf and Orc in strife,
Sought to vanquish every life,
When the hammer falls.
When the hammer falls,
Back our enemy crawls
When the hammer quakes,
Orcish cowards’ bones will break,
When the hammer cracks,
And it beats their armies back,
When the hammer’s boom,
Sends the monsters to their doom,
When the hammer falls,
When the hammer falls!
When the hammer falls,
Then our victory calls,
When the hammer falls,
Songs of glory fill the halls,
When the hammer flies,
Mighty heroes now arise,
With the hammer’s sound,
Live the Dwarves down underground,
When the hammer falls,
When the hammer falls!

Lets be real. The one things that makes dwarves superhuman....
Work ethic.
Everything they do, they do with care and attention to detail. Whether its mining rock, smithing, fighting, or drinking, they go 110%
They dont have immortality or natural arcane abilities, theyre just fully committed to everything in life, which makes them seem exceptional by human standards.
And if they don't do good, the dwarf wives chew them out.
In 5e D&D, it's mentioned that dwarves will sell "inferior" equipment to others, one example is a shovel to a human farmer. Of course, an "inferior" dwarven shovel sold to a farmer will last that farmers entire life, so the farmer thinks he got a great deal.
They’re just like Japanese, make everything to perfection to the point there is not time to procreate and slowly disappear over time
It makes them more "Human" than any person
@@eaglescott17 the funny thing is ive read stories where they only ever sell failures to non dwarves but they are still classed as epic

To be fair, it's not quite poetic enough to be a Tolkien song, but that doesn't stop it from being an awesome dwarven tune.
@@belacile its not poetic but it still feels like Tolkien's work or at least has the vibe of someone who has read Tolkien eoungh to get a degree in it it. (yes that's a real thing)
@Simpleton Life You can get degrees by studying on almost anything
"A dwarf..."
Bjard scowled, and slammed his flagon onto the table hard enough that cracks formed in the wood. Everyone fell silent, and turned to regard the stout young dwarf, his beard hardly long enough to bear two beads. But he spoke with words that seemed ancient enough to be carved in the roots of a mountain.
"A dwarf does NOTHING by half-measure! If we do not put our all into it, we do not even consider beginning a task! Where a man swears fealty to a lord one year, then rises against him ten years later, we stand by our oath! Where a gnome abandons his project in pursuit of the latest mechanism or chemical to catch his eye, we study it until it is perfected, and we know EXACTLY how it can be used, in ANY situation! The works of man crumble and decay over centuries, and the arts of elves fade like mist over millenia. But the craft of the dwarf? The craft of the dwarf shall STAND, until the stars go dark and the sun itself fades to cinders!"

I may not be a dwarf... Only a man with what little magic I can gather... But I stand with you, and unlike the softness of man, or the fading magics of elves, my blood, my magic, it will stand with you, shall the stars burn out, I will light more, shall the sun fade to darkness, then my life will bring a new sun for dwarves might, may my magic, what little I have, and may my life, no matter how different I be, show that I stand with you, and will not leave you in time as elves, or betray as man... For I am magic first, knowledge second, and human last, my humanity may be weak in battle, but you will not see me kneel with any foe, nor betray any dwarf, I stand and fight to my last breath to help unite this world, so that we all stand as endless in time as your craftsmanship, so we all have a reason to live

Something I particularly like is how the first half of the song sounds quieter, more like a celebration of the Dwarves's general society and love for ores and smithing, while the second half kicks into high-gear with a celebration of their glory in battle and sounds like a marching song.
Exactly! This represents dwarven civilization to the point: they are happy and content being just left alone to their mines and forges, creating great works of craftsmanship they can truly be proud of. But if you threaten their way of life, they will defend it till their last breath, often with the same tools that were used in said mines and forges.

If you think about it. The hammer is a symbol of all dwarfdom.
The hammer is a miner's friend, forger's tool and a warrior's weapon. It is strong and swift. There is no justice nor mercy, only the hammer. It is the earth purified and made stronger. Loud and proud, strong and powerful. It is a dwarf by all metrics of dwarvishness.
The hammer and the dwarf are one and the same, an extension of each other. The hammer both represents the dwarf and **is** the dwarf.

We all do mate
it seems to me that teams of dwarves are good with things like fortification and most non combat tasks, but fewer dwarves are just as good as more dwarves in close quarters combat (i know that you'd still be wise to have more soldiers in an army than less, I just noticed that it doesn't take as many dwaarves to fight well or hold a defense).
This is because dwarves need 2 things. Something to craft, something to fight.
* laughs in balrog
Or a legion of Poles. Kind of same folk, but Poles don't mine and are a bit higher.

Another masterpiece after "Song of Durin", keep going bro🤙🏼
Lets not forget "The lament for Boromir", "The lament for the Rohirrim", "The King beneath the mountain", "The song of Beren and Luthien", "The Ent and the Ent-Wife".... They have many masterpiece-level songs!
Is there literally a single song of theirs that isn't masterpiece level?

So my choir makes us practice a song and sing it each month, one time the whole bass and tenor sections decided we would sing this song. We all brought hammers to the class.
They thought we planed on using them on each other.

Honestly, Rings of Power is the first Tolkien adaptation to properly portray the glory of the Dwarves. No longer are they cheap comic relief, relegated only to being clumsy, stupid, half-witted folk like in previous works, but here they are a glorious, mighty, and honorable race. Seeing Khazad-Dum at its height is more than worth the price of admission.
