Exactly! This represents dwarven civilization to the point: they are happy and content being just left alone to their mines and forges, creating great works of craftsmanship they can truly be proud of. But if you threaten their way of life, they will defend it till their last breath, often with the same tools that were used in said mines and forges. Have you ever noticed that Tolkien's dwarfs rarely, if ever, express desire to conquer or subjugate other races? And almost all conflicts they take part in (not counting occasional mercenary companies) is almost always a defensive war or an attempt to reclaim one of their lost holdings?

Listening to this song, I just get these images of battles. Imagine being a soldier on the front lines. Maybe you're Elf, maybe you're Human. The Orcs are advancing. You're tired. Worn. Your lines can't survive another charge. And then you hear it. The marching. The singing. The hills and valleys themselves begin to ring out with the sound of Dwarven singing. Drums pounding. Hammers on anvils. And the song. And then over the hills they come. As far as the eye can see. Dwarves in shining and rock-solid unison. From every footfall, to every note, to every swing of the axe. And you are alive again.
Still, the actual Azog story is so amazing and how Tolkien ties the Goblin and Dwarf wars in with Hobbit is done in Tolkien's glorious way. You can't read Hobbit without also reading those stories from Return of the King.
I'm a larper. Every couple of months I go to a weekend-long camp out where me and a bunch of other nerds dress up like medieval times and beat the crap out of each other with foam weapons. I've been scouring the internet looking for songs to sing. This is exactly what I've been looking for. Your family makes such incredible music
If you think about it. The hammer is a symbol of all dwarfdom. The hammer is a miner's friend, forger's tool and a warrior's weapon. It is strong and swift. There is no justice nor mercy, only the hammer. It is the earth purified and made stronger. Loud and proud, strong and powerful. It is a dwarf by all metrics of dwarvishness. The hammer and the dwarf are one and the same, an extension of each other. The hammer both represents the dwarf and **is** the dwarf. EDIT: thank y'all for the likes and interactions. My husband introduced your songs (starting with this one!) to my kids about 2 years ago. Now their bedtime songs are from you guys. This one is by far the most requested song.
Years later and this is still my favorite of any of your originals. It honestly competes with Song of Durin in its ability to capture the essence of Tolkein's dwarves. Their pride, their honor, their fierceness in battle, all of it.

the Gods of fantasy music have blessed us with a divine gift. In all seriousness, you guys are amazing.Your renditions of dwarven music cause chills sometimes
Lets not forget "The lament for Boromir", "The lament for the Rohirrim", "The King beneath the mountain", "The song of Beren and Luthien", "The Ent and the Ent-Wife".... They have many masterpiece-level songs!
When I listen to this song I cant help but imagine these dwarves are brilliant craftsmen who have mastered blackpower weapons and that the "Falling Hammer" does not just represent a forge hammer but also the hammer of guns and cannons falling as they fire in the heat of battle.
Hail the king of under the mountain lol, the dwarves of erabor and iron hills alone can run a industrial revolution on middle earth, erabor mountain alone is a ultimate bank of gold, silver and gems etc , iron hills has produce steel products and gears etc and Dale town is the agriculture and trading market for them 3 places , erabor can fund to build a steel rail line system going from iron hills to erabor and Dale town and to the lake for fish to feed the dwarves and humans with plenty of meat etc, having horses or giant goats to pull the railcars full of people and goods back and forth, rail lines make things easier and faster to move around, and if they wanted to they could build a rail line to shire and Rohan and white city area and have a big trading economy going, maybe the dwarves can create a useful plow to plow multiple rows of farmland and maybe a harvester to collect the crops etc pulled by animals , essentially they could create a modern urban lifestyle feel with preindustrial technology
"We fought them hand to hand;" at the start of the battle, the dwarves meet the enemy in traditional melee combat. "When the hammer's boom;" the point when the cannons send round shot skipping through the orcish formation, sending up stone, wood, and bone shrapnel from everything they touch and leaving a twenty foot wide line of carnage in their wake.
"Grog... Hear dat?" "Nup." Grog says, running a hulking hand across his sweaty brow. "Kant ere nuttin." "Grog.... das stone talk?" Grog begins to wimper. "Why rocks speakin' dwarf?" That was the final words Grog ever heard.
“And Durin’s folk… do not fight from a fight.” Sorry, it’s such a great moment, and leads up to the best part of the movie that never ceases to send shivers down the spine every time.
It's amazing how well you pull off both the deep Dwarven sound and the high, beautiful Elvish poetry. I'd love to see you do another song based on portions of the Lay of Leithian.
@@RosseRue Actually, I meant what I said. _The Lay of Leithian,_ translated "Release from Bondage" is a 4223-line poem that J.R.R. Tolkien wrote telling the story of Lúthien Tinúviel. The sections of verse on pages 206 and 216 of _The Silmarillion_ are quotes from _The Lay of Leithian._ There are much longer excerpts from this poem in the book _Beren and Lúthien_ recently edited and published by Christopher Tolkien. I definitely recommend it if you would enjoy reading the story in verse rather than the condensed prose version given in _The Silmarillion._ Unless there was something else I am unaware of, this book is the first time we get to see more of Tolkien's original writing about Beren and Lúthien than was given in the Sil.
Used this for my dwarf cleric of the forge. He United the dwarven kingdoms to face off against and undead horde where he lost his life, but the battle was one. The undying war had ended. And his armor stands fixed with bronze watching over the cliff. Some say you can hear his hammer ringing in mordrins forge when the thunder rolls over Norbirad.
Feel the ancestral pride flow through you. You are descendant of Dwarves. You humans call their fossilized remains "Neanderthal". They were stronger, smarter, and Tougher than men. I was not yet born when they roamed the surface among Humans, but They still dwell beneath your feet.
Don't worry about those dislikes Clamavi De Profundi, they are just people who cant believe how amazing your song is!!!! Like how can you hate this, or they are probs orcs or goblins.
I think Clamavi should do a full reading of Lotr and The hobbit. One chapter per episode and all songs included. Just sit and listen to their mesmerizing voices reading through the story and singing. Please tell me that wouldn't be the most perfect thing ever.
it seems to me that teams of dwarves are good with things like fortification and most non combat tasks, but fewer dwarves are just as good as more dwarves in close quarters combat (i know that you'd still be wise to have more soldiers in an army than less, I just noticed that it doesn't take as many dwaarves to fight well or hold a defense).
I can totally imagine Durin VII marching to reconquest Khazad-Dûm once and for all, as dwarven people unite under His banner with this song as their new anthem
Oh, thank goodness, I was hoping someone would. Would it be possible to get a link or copy of the lyrics pasted here? No worries if not, it's still awesome you are doing this.

The hammer is a miner's friend, forger's tool and a warrior's weapon. It is strong and swift. There is no justice nor mercy, only the hammer. It is the earth purified and made stronger. Loud and proud, strong and powerful. It is a dwarf by all metrics of dwarvishness.

Do you mean Luthien? If so, they already have. It's awesome.
