Travelling to Luxor is a lifetime experience, as if in a time machine that takes you back to the great times of Egypt’s legendary kings, queens, deities and above all Egypt’s exquisite capital of civilization.
the tone of this video, the admiration, the respect, the warm-heartedness is apparent. Im due to be in Egypt soon and found this video incredibly helpful, esp the sunset felucca ride.
We’re so glad to hear that! We really loved Egypt. Just got back to Belgium actually after 6 weeks in Egypt. We have a couple more Egypt videos coming out in the next two weeks (Dahab and Top 10 Egypt). If you’re interested, we release a new video every Saturday night on our channel
Great information, really excited to visit Egypt. There is so much history and so many great places to see, especially looking forward to a hot air balloon ride! Safe travels. -Chris & Suzannah
wow! outstanding! the trip looks mind blowing, and the video itself is so well done! Love the map views! It's amazing that there is so much colour on the tombs, and it's lasted all this time without fading to nothing. I can't say 'unbelievable' enough to describe it... have fun!!
Thank you for watching and your kind comments!! We appreciate the support 🙏 yes, Luxor is an amazing place and they do a really great job of preserving their ruins there. World class stuff 🙌
Luxor is a great option! The best temples and tombs in Egypt can be found there in our opinion. White Desert is another great option for a 3-day trip from Cairo and back. We will have a video on White Desert coming out this weekend. It’s a wild place 🤙
Upcoming solo traveler and new follower of yours !! Your videos are amazing ! I will be going to Egypt in 3 weeks (TX here). This video helped so much ! Keep on adventuring ❤
It looks like you had a fantastic time! I was blown away by everything I saw in Luxor. I actually just posted a video from my trip on my channel! It was just unforgettable!
Thank you for your efforts in making such an amazing and informative video! 🙌🏻 I didn’t know there was so much to see in Luxor! I’m going to Egypt in December and planned on going to Cairo for the most part and taking 2 days to explore Luxor. In your opinion, how many days in Luxor should be spent to maximise our time exploring everything?
Here's a weird question given all the things you are showing us but what is the camera stick you use and would you recommend it? Are you using a phone or a GoPro on the end of it?
Great video. Plan to visit in February by cruise ship docking in Safaga. What are your thoughts of getting a taxi to Luxor. We are there for two days so thinking of spending the night and catching a taxi back to the ship.
It’s definitely possible! But the taxi ride won’t be so cheap (could be over 100€ each way). You could also join a day tour there, many of those leave from Hurghada and take you to the main sites in Luxor. We actually came from Marsa alam and came with a tour bus, but instead of going back with them, we stayed behind in the city for 5 days.
Loved your video, so informative and concise at the same time. Luxor has so much to offer! Looking forward to visiting in a few months time. I am quite intrigued that sugar cane cropping is done there. The tea at the tour guides house must have been great! Thank you.
We stayed 5 days in Luxor ourselves. You could do all of the activities we mentioned in 3 days if you’re going fast, but if you have time to do 5 or more, it’s worth it to take your time and really take in all the history there
Hi thank you for your videos. We plan to go in oct. When did u guys go? Is it advisable to stay in Luxor resort? N then take a Nike cruise. Did you book theNile cruise in advance? Thanks again 😊
We went at the end of January. It was a bit chilly at that time, October will be better! And we stayed a few days in Luxor before boarding the cruise as there’s lots of things to do there. We would definitely advise to stay there a few days before the trip! You don’t need to book the cruise in advance but it’s advisable as some might book out. If you have great bargaining skills, you might want to try and get a deal in Luxor itself when you’re there
hi, regarding the donkey. how did you manage to get the donkey and the 'potato man' hehe. and regarding the guide/egyptologist. to which spots do u recommend to have the guide? is do we need to engage with them earlier of how? will u share? thanks thanks
We got linked up by our hotel host Achraf who works at the Spring Hotel. It's his nephew who took us around... We recommend getting a guide for most of the historical sites and temples... You can book a tour guide at the place itself or book in advance... it's up to you.
Great information! we're going this Sunday. We'll stay at East side (Winter Garden hotel) and wondering if we can rent a bike to do the trip in West side?? We got a quote for a day trip (without a guide) for $87. Is it expensive?
Sounds expensive! We rented bikes on the west side for 20$ each at most! Especially if you’re not going with a guide. Maybe ask around? You can definitely go without a guide on the west side. It’s pretty straight forward! Enjoy!
Great video. I’m planning on going once the new museum opens. Do you think it’s better to book all of your guides separately or book with a company that has your entire trip? Trying to save money… thanks!
I think booking with one company would be better as it will save you so much hassle! We traveled independently but it wasn’t always easy as there are so many restrictions of movement. Also not allowed to rent a car, so you really have to depend on a mix of buses, tour companies, and train! Which places are you planning to visit?
@@worldwildhearts Cario, Giza, Luxor, Aswan, Alexandria. Most trips have several days on a Nile cruise. Is that the best way to travel, not sure if I want to be stuck on a boat for that long? I am going in 3 weeks but I will be alone. Will a balloon ride still be worth it? if you only had two full days to explore I guess the day trip to Abydos isn't worth it at expense of the other things
Hot air balloon was really unique because you fly over the west bank temples. We also loved just to rent a bicycle and explore the West Bank's highlights between the sugarcane plantations. But it's really up to your preferences!
Prices constantly change and that’s why we don’t mention them 😌 like the currency in Egypt recently took a major hit so could be totally different right now
We arranged it via our hotel on the West Bank! The owner knew someone in his community and he took us! I’m pretty sure you can just ask anyone when you’re in Luxor, but definitely go for a ride along the West Bank!
This will be my first visit to Egypt and I want it to be like a dream. M confused should I take a nile cruise to visit these sites or should I skip cruise to make sure I get more time at the sites?
We stayed 3 days in Luxor, then took the Nile Cruise down to Aswan, and stayed in Aswan for 2 more days! That way you have more time to explore the historic sites. The cruise generally takes you to other historic sites along the Nile (Edfu and Kom Ombo). Enjoy your trip!
Thank you! We just finished our Egypt trip and are back in Belgium for a little bit. Hope to be back in Luxor one day though! Many more things to explore there
Hi there! It really depends... We visited most historic sites on our own and hired a guide at the entrance. I think 650 EGP sounds very low for a full day... but you could check on GetYourGuide so you have an idea of what the price would be
We came from Marsa Alam. But the best way to go from Cairo would be to fly probably. Flights are pretty cheap! I believe there’s also a bus but it takes more than 8 hours. Several trains also run daily between Cairo's Ramses Train Station and Luxor Railway Station, but they’re pretty expensive! It’s more about the experience if you choose the tourist train!
For now the temples cost between 180 EGP and 250 EGP for a foreigner, non-student! But that’s just the entrance and a guide is always an additional cost

I think 3 days in Luxor is a good amount to see the highlights. We definitely enjoyed Luxor more than Cairo, as it's a big chaotic city.
Awesome video! Did you visit all by yourself? or with an organised tour?
Yes we visited by ourselves! We traveled around Egypt for 6 weeks. Had a few times a tour booked, but tried to do most activities independently.
