£1k for Luxor is so much. I’ve stayed in many of the Luxor East Bank hotels & have paid nothing close to that. I’m in Luxor currently as my husband is from here & as a Brit when you’re with an Egyptian your experience is very different. No one tries to sell me a thing.

I wasn’t keen to go but my husband desperately wanted to and eventually wore me down. We travelled with a company known in the UK for looking after “older” travellers and I was absolutely awestruck at what we saw. You have to see it to believe it. Yes there was security everywhere and yes the locals were pushy but travelling in company with a guide gave us protection. A must see destination.
The Hilton looks nice but I must say I would go for the colonial grandeur of the Old Winter Palace where we stayed twice . It had a wonderful atmosphere and we were treated like royalty .
Hello from Nee Zealand Tim, look forward to you coming here. My cruise down the Nile and trip to Egypt was the best trip of my life, unfortunately was 45° Celsius and really quite unbearable heat, but still worth every moment. Will def go back in April when its cooler. I never got bad belly when all my companions did. I stayed away from anything with water/ice. No salad washed in water, only bottled water, only hot food and probably about 2 tonne of pastires and desserts. I found that staying away from all non bottled water was the key, even when brushing my teeth I used bottled water Thank you Tim, you have literally allowed me to relive so many special moments I had. I love watching you and your travels but this one was just a little more special ❤
I visited Luxor during a Week's cruise along the Nile as a kid. Now I'm finishing my BA in Egyptology and was at a premier for a new exhibition I helped with The trip really gave me the love for Egypt that I've kept ever since! It's wonderful to see you filming some of the areas I've been studying for 3 years - I've literally been translating a papyrus that records the first strike in history. It mentions how the workers who build the tombs of the Valley of the Kings walked to the back of the mortuary temples that you flew over. After my Masters that I'll start later this year, I hope to travel to luxor to really put my studies to the test!
Going by your video, Egyptian people seem so kind, welcoming and friendly. I have always wanted to go to Egypt, but my family is terrified of going. I am an avid traveler, so I can't say I've never been anywhere, but Egypt is definitely a dream destination of mine! I think more people would feel safe going to this wonderful country if they prepare themselves for possible scams, learn about basic culture and customs, and book excursions in groups versus being alone in a country you have never been before. My experiences may be different than yours as a solo woman traveler, but I genuinely like to believe that 95% of people are kind, compassionate and understanding. I really hope to go to Egypt by my 70th birthday haha. Currently 32 so quite a ways a way, but definitely something to look forward to.
I don’t like to travel and am now 77 so it is less appealing than ever but your videos are so thorough I don’t feel ignorant about the world. I love seeing all the detail you show. I really do enjoy traveling by car around the US and have been to most of the states except the north east. I have been as far north as Chicago and Baltimore and since my husband passed I probably won’t make the last few. My daughter and her family go to different overseas countries every year so I forward your vids on to her, especially Cairo. You are the best.
Egypt is one of the best places to visit, but it doesn't make enough propaganda like other countries. The Egyptians are kind.,friendly and hosbitable people.
This is the one country that I really want to visit in my lifetime. My parents did a Nile cruise years ago and absolutely loved it. They said the boat and staff were wonderful. I just wanted to say that your photography walking in to the tombs was amazing and made me feel like I was walking there along with you. I dont know what camera you used on the end of that stick but its doing a great job. Thank you x
I loved Egypt when I went in June 2007. Was nice and hot - high 30s to 40 degrees so I felt like I was back home in Perth, Western Australia, which I had been away from for over two years. It was like another world, which is quite interesting, as I have heard that there may be extra-terrestrials responsible for building the pyramids - I wouldn't be surprised. I did a Nile cruise which was great! I should have paid the extra to do a 5 star cruise but I thought 4 star would be fine. A few teething problems at the start but it turned out alright so I didn't regret it. I spent a few days in Cairo and that was an eye-opening experience. I went to Hurghada for 4 days on the Red Sea and managed to relax and feed fish just in from the shoreline as well as go on a boat dive. I found the people to be very authentic, friendly and accommodating. One guy in Cairo started a conversation and when he knew I was looking to buy bananas he took me down some side streets to find them. I would never have found them otherwise. He owned a perfume/scent shop and took me there and gave me a drink. We chatted for about an hour and he showed me pictures of him with some well-known people. I bought some male and female scents which I found excellent. You only needed a small dab and it lasted ages. Would love to go back again one day...
I was supposed to do this very trip 30 years ago with my Grandfather. Unfortunately circumstances were against us and he passed away. So thank you Tim I watched this vlog with glee and my grandfather in my heart x
Feels like we were right there along with you...because we were 😂. We were in the same balloon segment as you! Lovely to have some quality footage of the flight as that video you could pay for was pretty rubbish. And so weird that we travelled so far and still ended up with someone from Norfolk - me and my sister (also in the video) grew up in Winterton 😅
I'm an Egyptologist by profession and just wanted to share a quick tip. You will be 'approached' continually whilst visiting the sites, just say 'El Docktor' and they should leave you alone....
My wife has almost forced me to visit the pyramids and temples on my own because I've been reading about them and learning as much as possible and I've watched a great deal of videos about them...and then I came across your video, got about half way through it...Karnak...and went into my wife and said, "I've just saved us a couple of thousand pounds by seeing what a complete nightmare it would be for me to go there !" Hideous crowds, hideous heat, hideous distances and people determined to sell me stuff when all I'd want is peace and quiet and the chance to visit with an expert by my side explaining timescales and heiroglyphs etc. My loss I'm sure !
My hubby and I absolutely love Egypt, we've been 3 times, and honestly we couldn't have asked for better service and experience. The locals are so warm and friendly. Yes pushy at first, but a firm but polite no thank you is all that you need, especially if you say it in Arabic, which can surprise them, and does get appreciated. As for tummy troubles, my hubby has quite bad IBS and we have never once been ill in Egypt, if anything he was a hell of a lot better. We learned our lesson on our honeymoon 14 years ago when we went to the Dominican Republic. Never have ice in your drinks, no matter how hot it is, or if they insist it is bottled water. Also a big factor in an upset tummy and feeling poorly believe it or not is the temperature of your room. We all go on holiday and with it being super hot, especially in places like Egypt, we like to crank the air conditioning up and have a cold room. Going between cold and hot several times a day can affect you, and make you poorly and we were advised never to have the room lower than 21°C, so you don't get that huge shock when going between the two. Obviously hygiene is also a big factor, so if the hotel doesn't have a sink or sanitizer machines outside the restaurant (this was before the pandemic) just get yourself a little bottle of hand sanitizer and before you eat, use it especially after touching things in communal areas, door handles, stair rails etc etc. Also don't bother buying loads of insect repellent over here, wait until you get there, find a local supermarket and get some of the local ones. They are far cheaper, but also much more effective, they do absolutely stink though, but it's definitely worth it. I absolutely love that you've been to Cairo and now Luxor, and highlighted both in the way that you have. One final warning on Egypt, beware the local vodka! Oh my word that stuff is like rocket fuel, so if you normally drink doubles, start out with a single, and see how you get on. I look forward to your next post. X
Fro someone born in the tropics and spent years living in parts of the Middle East, that is the correct recommendation to stop diarrhea and stomach upsets: NO ice, NO salads, consume fruit only that you have washed ( or seen washed ) and stick to cooked foods wherever possible.
@@ghamandlupinwalkingtours Ice in some countries, Egypt is one example, is not necessarily made from purified water. It may be made from tap water which can be contaminated with pathogens. We did this three weeks before the tragedy. He was saying we are not supposed to go this high ,but he and another violinist were trying to go higher than each other. When we landed locals came on motor bikes to beg on us. .we had quiet group, thank goodness, no one was loud. Still was an unforgettable experience..
Loving the Egypt series Tim! Fantastic seeing Luxor, Valley of the Kings, Tutankhamun & my favourite place is the architecture at the Temple of Hatshepsut! The Hilton hotel with a backdrop of the Nile is a Dream!
I have been there in 2001 - shortly after the massacre of Luxor (Dayr-el-Bahri in 1997). I also stayed at the Hilton Luxor Resort and Spa and I was so surprised: everything has changed! I don't recognize anything. Even more in the Valley of the Kings the "Visitor Center" vis-à-vis of King Tut-Anch-Amuns grave didn't barely exist. There was nothing (I remember well, because I was thirsty and wanted really something to drink). The Temple of Karnak: so many new sidewalks in front an in the temple - I can't believe it! It's a whole new place... I think I have to revisit Luxor and Karnak.
Wow wow Tim … that was an amazing look at places I’ll never be able to see for myself.. thank you for a fantastic experience .. love watching all you create for us 👏❤️🙋🏻♀️
Love your videos! I'm a primary school teacher and we are studying The Ancient Egyptians-Longleat class loved this video of you visiting the pyramids. Thank you!
Lovely watching this brought back so many memories of our many visits. A wonderful place. Proposed to my husband on a hot air balloon whilst in Luxor.🐞
This is one of yuur best videos so far .. imo. I don’t comment usually bc I play yuur videos on the big screen tv.. totally enjoying seeing these Egyptian sites I’d never go see myself.. thank you. Good job and another enjoyable video Tim ..
Wow, Tim really has grown and perfected his style! So professional, top quality content. From run down hotels to these awesome abroad series which I’ve been binging!! From 100K subs to half a million. Well deserved mateyyy
Was once told by a large jamaican man, that the BEST mosquito repellant was fresh squeezed lemons with water in a spray bottle. Yet to test it outside of england yet, but for sure worth trying.
Hey Tim, no ice in drinks and stay clear of the salad washed in normal water. We where the only ones on a Nile cruise to not get the poops x Brilliant video definitely made us want to go back
I think this is one of the nicest hotels you have stayed in Tim. The outside pool and gardens are amazing. the whole video was superb, glorious sights . I want to go there, can never afford it so thankyou so much for showing us all these videos. Our very own tour guide Tim ! x
Tim. You have been to so many places, I am currently not in a financial position to travel so you have done me a favour by going to places I can only dream of. I love your stuff. By the way I am from Folkestone and i saw you’ve visited the Burstin haha. Keep doing your stuff as you’re providing content thats keeping me going until i can travel again!
This brought back memories of my cruise down the nile. Karnak and Hatsheput's temples, valley of the kings all things you have to see in real life to understand the size of these antiquities. Also Abu Simbel is on another level! Great vid as ever Tim
That was incredible. I would have loved to go to Egypt & Morocco when I was living in London but I was too scared being a woman travelling on her own 🇳🇿🇳🇿👍
Thank you for sharing. Egypt has been on my wish list for many years. I am now determined to go. I’m a single female in my 50’s, can anyone recommend a travel company where you are looked after?
Wow! Those balloons hold so many people!! And the pilot is wearing a uniform, which impressed me more than it should. What an operation! Also, hot air balloons are such magic.
I was there 38 years ago. The valleys of kings, queens and nobles are still as commercial as ever. We had been able to climb the hill between the valleys. It was great. The hatchepsout queen's temple was not open to the public. Only the facade. Thanks for showing us the inside. I confirm that Toutancamon's tomb is a replica of the real one but it's still great. Do the sound and light show in karnak please. 😊
I stumbled onto this channel when tim stayed in sashas in Manchester and watched ever since. To see the growth of tim and his channel has been amazing. Im so happy for him and his family and i hope it continues to grow. Well done mate. Well deserved.
Hi Tim. Really enjoyed your aLuxor trip. The temples and the tombs were amazing. I know Egypt has celebrated 7 milliniums so I can't even imagine how old the sights are.
Me and my daughter love to watch this channel. It is probably our favorite channel to watch together. She always makes sure that I don’t forget to give each video a thumbs up!
I've ballooned over Luxor, but there were only 2 or 3 balloons flying then. It was marvellous, even though I don't like heights. It's always a good idea to have a guide in Luxor, assuming you are interested in the history 16:38 and culture of ancient Egypt - otherwise why are you there? The licensed guides are excellent: all university trained. They also protect you from any over-enthusiastic salesmen (who are, by the way, only trying to make a living). The LE5 given to you by the man used to be worth a small tip but , with current inflation, would now only be suitable for a child perhaps. It was given to you graciously as a souvenir. You said yourself that Egyptians are very friendly. That's true.
I am new to your channel, but have seen a few of you videos and every time it surprises me on how real and authentic you present your videos. I also found Gaby’s channel here as well, she is also super authentic ! ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Was there in 2003, 3 months after the US invaded Iraq and there was some 'regional unrest'. Apart from extra soldiers here and there, I loved the place. Great vid, Tim!
I went to Egypt a few years ago. Got a poorly belly. The manager noticed I was not about for a few days approached me. I explained what was up and he told me before you come to my country you need to prepare your stomach, drink strong coffee with lemon in it....
The video quality is amazing Tim .. I love back those times how much they worshipped the gods and goddesses and the after life and how they were with animals absolutely incredible
I was in Luxor the middle of April this year and it was 37° so the Valley of the Kings was roasting hot 🔥 I also visited Ramses V1 tomb - amazing. The Hilton looked great - far better than the boat we stayed on !!
Looks amazing, would be too hot for me even on the coolest days. I loved the tombs and the balloon ride looked like a once in a lifetime experience. Thank you for the great video, felt like I was there without the mosquitos!

Wow wow Tim … that was an amazing look at places I’ll never be able to see for myself.. thank you for a fantastic experience .. love watching all you create for us 👏❤️🙋🏻♀️
Found your channel a couple days ago. Love your honest observations. It's fun to walk with you Tim!! Cheers from Oregon
Thanks and welcome
Love your videos! I'm a primary school teacher and we are studying The Ancient Egyptians-Longleat class loved this video of you visiting the pyramids. Thank you!
Lovely watching this brought back so many memories of our many visits. A wonderful place. Proposed to my husband on a hot air balloon whilst in Luxor.🐞
After watching your time in Kairo, I think I prefer Luxor. Beautiful area! ❤
Just back from Luxor and Cairo ..... Luxor was amazing.
This is one of yuur best videos so far .. imo. I don’t comment usually bc I play yuur videos on the big screen tv.. totally enjoying seeing these Egyptian sites I’d never go see myself.. thank you. Good job and another enjoyable video Tim ..
loved visiting Luxor. So much history
Done this twice was amazin.
And cruise on the nile.
Best holiday ever.
Talk to the locals more Tim! Love it! ❤
Wow, Tim really has grown and perfected his style! So professional, top quality content. From run down hotels to these awesome abroad series which I’ve been binging!! From 100K subs to half a million. Well deserved mateyyy
This is by far you best episode. What an amazing country
Thanks
i noticed there was a lot of ladies walking by themselves. It good to see as i would be one of them if i went. Thank you for showing.
Was once told by a large jamaican man, that the BEST mosquito repellant was fresh squeezed lemons with water in a spray bottle.
Yet to test it outside of england yet, but for sure worth trying.
I wanted to travel to Egypt this year, but it being so close to the conflict I think I'll avoid it for now.
Glad you enjoyed it.
That's like saying you don't want to visit New York because of the earthquakes in California.
Thanks for sharing
History is amazing.. me and my dad are big history people it's just crazy how much everything changes over time irs full on
That was incredible.
Your videos are really my guilty pleasure! Always excited to see a video drop in my subscription box!
Means alot thanks 😊 another coming Sunday
I’d like to see you visit Alexandria.
Wow! Those balloons hold so many people!! And the pilot is wearing a uniform, which impressed me more than it should. What an operation! Also, hot air balloons are such magic.
I tried to go for a good company and they had the best reviews
I was there 38 years ago. The valleys of kings, queens and nobles are still as commercial as ever. We had been able to climb the hill between the valleys. It was great. The hatchepsout queen's temple was not open to the public. Only the facade. Thanks for showing us the inside. I confirm that Toutancamon's tomb is a replica of the real one but it's still great. Do the sound and light show in karnak please. 😊
The sound and light show was so amazing
LOVE THIS FILM IT WAS THE BEST OF ALL THE DOCS. THIS WAS THE BEST WITH YOUR FILM IT WAS LIKE I WAS THERE THE HILTON LOOKED VERY NICE AND SAFE
I stumbled onto this channel when tim stayed in sashas in Manchester and watched ever since. To see the growth of tim and his channel has been amazing. Im so happy for him and his family and i hope it continues to grow. Well done mate. Well deserved.
thanks for the support
You sir are a brave man. I would never put my life into the hands of other people especially in a foreign country in a hot air ballon.
Wow! The sceneries of Egypt was really beautiful!
So glad you recognise the locals including you re Ramadan,
As ever, a great honest review. thanks Tim.
Good video. Impressed by that landing operation.
Me too!
Morning Tim. Great relaxing watch on Saturday morning. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it
I would LOVE to visit there, it's so magical and mysterious.
Beautiful family you have billy ❤️ thanks for sharing 😊
I am new to your channel, but have seen a few of you videos and every time it surprises me on how real and authentic you present your videos. I also found Gaby’s channel here as well, she is also super authentic ! ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Welcome aboard!
Was there in 2003, 3 months after the US invaded Iraq and there was some 'regional unrest'. Apart from extra soldiers here and there, I loved the place. Great vid, Tim!
Wow, an amazing experience, thanks for the journey Tim🎉
You visited my dream location and did all the things I would like to do, it looks incredible.
I love history so would be interested in the tombs.
I went to Egypt a few years ago. Got a poorly belly. The manager noticed I was not about for a few days approached me. I explained what was up and he told me before you come to my country you need to prepare your stomach, drink strong coffee with lemon in it....
good tip
Part of the Egypt experience is getting the shits.

Loved your content. I stayed at the hilton in luxor it was amazing 😊
I remember being in the Colliisum in Rome and feeling the history in the walls. Imagine similer in the tombs. Would love to go to them.
The video quality is amazing Tim .. I love back those times how much they worshipped the gods and goddesses and the after life and how they were with animals absolutely incredible
Thank you. What a beautiful way to wake up on a chilly morning in NZ
I was in Luxor the middle of April this year and it was 37° so the Valley of the Kings was roasting hot 🔥
I also visited Ramses V1 tomb - amazing.
The Hilton looked great - far better than the boat we stayed on !!
Hi Tim never stop what u doing amazing video enjoyed every minute 👍🤣
Thanks 👍
Looks amazing, would be too hot for me even on the coolest days. I loved the tombs and the balloon ride looked like a once in a lifetime experience. Thank you for the great video, felt like I was there without the mosquitos!
I know the safety procedures lack big-time in the Middle East so you are a brave man!
You’re exactly where we were in 3/2020. World was just shutting down. Had a great experience and love the River Nile ❤
One of the best you have done! Big fan thank you Tim!!! ❤️🥂
I have a trip to Egypt & Jordan booked for next year & one of the places we’re going is Luxor. I’m so excited! Thanks for posting this, I love your videos!
