4:00 Olivia Lamasan stated in one of her interviews that people are screaming for social themed movies but when they release and produce one, supporters/movie goers are nowhere to be found.
I know this kind of movies (the mainstream ones) can't be removed from the PH Cinema since its been in the cinema culture and tradition for a very long time but its not bad to explore more movie genres and its execution. Hindi kase pwedeng manitili na lang sila dun sa "tinatanggap na naman nila eh, sige lang pwede na yan" they need to step up in the plate a bit more, I'm just thankful na sa ngayon lumalabas na yung ilang films na malayo sa nakagisnang format ng PH media. Also another thing abt the mainstream movies are lack of diversity and cultural appropriation, politically inaccurate characters and unrealistic characters. Kudos to the content creator of this channel! Just found your channel today and I already love the content topics. Sana lahat ng viewers aware sa mga gantong klaseng bagay.
I agree and disagree. The campy movies are part of the cinema culture and they are fun so they should remain but I agree there needs to be more intelligent scripts and diversity in genres too.
Apart from exploring poor and rich side to make a good script lets also other genres such as sci-fi, historical or political , biopic or entrepreneurial especially animation but still relevant to our Filipino society (excluding the poorly made star cinrma movies of vice ganda and gma shows) . The only con when it comes to other genres is the lack of investment and I hope someone can invest on those so we can implement diverse genres in our country and for the world to see greatness in us than to see how mediocre we are. I’m not against on what what is said in this video and I agree however it’s sad that most of these mention here are underrated genres yet we get the trashy ones like star cinema produces.
I have to agree that there are a lot of bad movies but you should have not single out Star Cinema instead give them credit by pulling audience to movie theaters again. SC pave a way to blossom the movie industry here in the Philippines. They have trash movies but some of their materials have better and solid storylines as compared to GMA and Regal films. Other movie outfits can't even produce a single movie in a year even they have famous actors because they cannot pull the audience to the cinemas.
Mostly the late 2000s (I mean some where still ok ) for me was the decline unlike wayback in the 50s-90s were great films and had sense despite some being repetitive it had sense before
wow i badly needed this lalo na pilipino ako and i wanted to make a short film THANK YOU SO MUCH
annepauline tiu omg glad I could help! ❤️
Star Cinema's films were still good in the 1990s and the early 2000s.

TyperLove their execution needs improvement more than their choice of genre for sure

English din po ba ang gagamiting language kung magsusulat ng screen play in Filipino movies?
2010s is when Philippine cinema started dying. They just started caring for money and money only.
