Cliché is what sells. Sorry to be that person but the PH film industry will continue rehashing whatever the masses relate to because that’s the reason why they will flock to the cinemas. Until we get an intelligent audience that is willing to consume films that are complex, layered, and reflective of important stories grounded on social issues, film production outfits will never take this risk. If you want to see all of these, it’s better to watch entries from indie producers like cinemalaya entries, which in my opinion, are the real gems of our film industry.

It is not hit and run. If we'll carefully read between the lines of banlaoi, he's the one who's the reason of Joy's death. He just sets up the 3 guys so the fault will be carried by them. Banlaoi is a great politician and a strategist.

The correct term he's talking about is colorism it is a Global issue (look at the Indian caste system for proof) but the problem with phillipinne cinema is that they're not allowed to watch other films because it's to "intellectual " for phillipine tastes and the system constantly creating crap phillipine media to dumb the masses . I encourage looking at Maynila sa kuko ng liwanag it's impressive........what happened?

I appreciate your feedback but again you blame "pinoy culture" again. Thinking and assuming these flaws are unique to us when these nature exists in general. Its human nature I even feel the celebration on top of the hill is actually a GOOD thing! Why? If you ever been in a battle MORALE is very important! So they celebrate for a while when they see Americans are helpless,,of you are their commander you NEED to maintain this level of Morale! Its not a negative thing. They run away why? cause they wanna live. Its human nature to want to live. its not at all messed up. Its a study of human nature and self preservation. Filipinos are NOT especially messed up. filipinos are ALSO messed up like ALL OTHER human beings,,for the human being is a flawed creature,,but we need to accept this fact. we dont say its RIGHT but we are NOT special for being incompetent every other nationality has incompetent nature at times. I am sure you also saw the noble things some Filipinos also do in this movie right? Humans are a mix of good and bad things,,its life, its how it works

All issues you pointed out sir may very well must arrive at one source: Filipinos having identity crises and even at the height of our success we lose ourselves. A 333 year Spanish ruling our sacred lands, influence of American systems/processes and a 6 yr Japanese short occupational rule will really make you lose your identity.

I think one of the reasons is that why the Philippines lost is that Emilo Auginaldo handled poorly, most of the soldiers are untrained, inexperienced farmers in uniforms. I mean with all due respect their aiming is bad in Tirad pass Even within Point blank. It even says it all with one scene with Mambini and Jose, and how Jose talks about how their military is so untrained and its basically popularity contest on who's rich and deserves to be commander or another scene where it shows the battle of Karong de sili ,where most of their soldiers were farmers. If Auginaldo was not president and Luna was not dead, and the Philippines had a better trained and organized military then I think the Philippines would win. I mean Luna did revolutionized milatary tactics which basically means hes a good generel so yeah.
