- To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Gramophone Awards this year, The Tallis Scholars performed Agnus Dei I & III from Josquin's Missa Pange lingua. The Tallis Scholars won the Recording of the Year Award in 1987 for their recordings of Josquin's Missa Pange lingua and Missa La sol fa re mi.
One of the best parts of listening to them sing live is how they open a piece slightly shakily and then transcend into a seamless, elastic, almost casual rapturous blend and _maintain_ that blend up until the concluding notes.
For me the greatest choral ensemble in the UK . The peerless Tallis Scholars conducted for his founder Peter Phillips.
One of the suggested videos for this one is titled, "Why does the universe exist?". I think this performance is as good an answer as any.
I posted the comment 'I listened and saw the face of god'. I'm an atheist but listening to such sublime singing is almost enough to make me a believer.
Divino!
I just realised they swapped out the last tenor part. It's quite high.
A Tallis Scholars minden felvétele megérdemelne egy díjat.
Nincs egyetlen jó felvétele sem,...- mind kimagasló !
I listened and saw the face of god.
