    Another nice review Sean. For a camo bow ready-to-hunt with (excluding arrows and release) that comes in about $400, this is a nice bow. Years ago I bought my sons a PSE (as you grow bow) and they used it for many years and I could set it up as a back up bow if need be. Looks like it has a good draw cycle. Thanks for sharing!

    My eldest son shoots this bow in the 2017 model. It shoots nice. My biggest complaint was quiver would fall apart until glued and it throws the limb dampers off. All things easily fixed. Good price for what you get. Thanks again Sean, quality reviews matter!

      Stings and cables stretch over time. They probably needed to be twisted back to the manufacturer’s specifications to tune the bow up.

    Hey Sean. Love your reviews.
    Ive been using this bow PSE Extreme and found there are two settings "performance" and "grow with u".
    I seriously do not like the performance setting due to the large climb and dump at the end of the draw cycle + the jumpy short valley.
    Have been using the grow with u setting which is slower but a much smoother pull.

In your recommendation you tested shorter Stinger. Since I have a 30 inch draw length and start with 50-60 pounds I would not "grow" so much with the bow. Best regards from Germany 🙏

      Sb1 has a larger adjustment range so would be better for someone very young and still doing a lot of growing. If it is an older person who won’t need as much of an adjustment range, I actually liked the Stinger a little better.

    I liked your review as always. I’ve been shooting that stinger for 4 months now. It got me totally addicted to archery. Very accurate and pretty fast. I do have to chase the D loop and Peep site as they spin occasionally but this is due to no serving on the string where it wraps around the wheel up top. Other than that it’s a good work horse of a beginner bow.

      Well, that could go either way. I’d say whichever you prefer. Both are good options. Option two enables you to get someone else into archery. If buying a 700 dollar bow, look into Elite Valor (I think it’s called) and xpedition mountaineer, as part of your options. God bless.

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  8 місяців тому +1

      The challenge is that not many archery shops stock many of those bows. Very often it is top and bottom and not much in the middle since most people who are looking for a bow in that price range can buy it online or will go to a major chain store like Cabelas to get it. I don't see too many bows in shops for that price range.

    Hi Sean, love your reviews! Looking at one of these or a bear approach. Your review of the approach showed it didnt shoot above 300fps despite the single cam rated at 330fps from the manufacturer. Its $130 more than the stinger here in the rth package. Stinger seems to shoot what its rated to. Which bow would you choose between the two? Thanks

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  5 років тому +2

      If you are looking for a single cam bow, the Stinger seemed really good. It’s only shortcoming is it comes off of the back wall a little easy. Everything else really impressed me on it. The Approach single cam was definitely slow. The approach HC has food speed but definitely was a more aggressive draw cycle. God bless.

    Alright Sean I have a weird/dumb question because I’m a noob when it comes to bows so bear with me
    Why do people even buy expensive(600+)bows? I mean what do they get out of it compared to a 350 dollar bow? With the diamond edge it seems like it could be everything you could want so what’s the point? Is it like smoother draw or what? I would like to know what some disadvantages would be of a bow like the diamond edge (doesn’t have to be) but is it worth saving up?

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  5 років тому +1

      More expensive bows are made with higher quality parts that are more resilient in extreme conditions, such as aluminum rather than plastic parts in some areas. The risers are also made with stiffer/better aluminum, adding to their rigidity, etc. these details also help in overall performance when you start getting really picky about extreme accuracy.

    • @l00nybin
      @l00nybin 5 років тому

      One of the other things you can get with more expensive bows is more speed. While it isn't speed that kills, having a faster bow means you can shoot a heavier arrow at the same speed as a lighter arrow from a slower bow. For short draw length people like me, this matters quite a bit. From a 300fps bow, I might be able to shoot a 380gr arrow at a decent speed, but with a 340fps bow, I can shoot a 450gr arrow at that same speed. Heavier arrows penetrate more due to higher momentum, and penetration is the name of the game.

    • @percussion44
      @percussion44 5 років тому +1

      You may be a bow noob, but bows follow the pattern of just about everything else. Cars, stereos, skiis, whatever. First - chinese made entry level stuff, functional but lots of cost cutting, results may be inconsistent, longterm usability probably compromised, but..200 bucks and you're out loosing arrows (the term is "loose" not "fire"arm).
      Second - entry grade western produced stuff. Fully functional, basic but solid components, long term usability is likely, will meet the NEEDS of practically everybody. Despite all the wannabe's cries of inadequacy only a tiny minority of archers are on the pro circuit with money on the table. 400-600 bucks will meet all your requirements.
      Third - high end stuff. Spending big dollars to fight for inches of improvement. Pro circuit archers with big money on the table look for this stuff (but are usually sponsored so get free gear). Otherwise bragging rights, though why bragging about money spent appeals to people I dunno, just show them your bank deposit slips if that impresses people. Like Sean says, machined metal parts, forged vs cast risers, important if you're drawing 80lbs I guess. 800+++ dollars. Maybe you spend extra to get carbon fiber to reduce weight. Like luxury vehicles etc the manufacturers collect a nice premium on top end stuff so they push it hard, sponsoring, advertising, paid endorsements that sort of thing.
      Geddy Lee of Rush plays with a battered bass he found in a pawn shop. It's the man not the gear that makes him a musician.

      From one noob to another ;-)
      It's like a car, whats the difference between an impala and a bentley, they both have wheels, steering wheel and a roof to keep you dry. The materials are better, it's all a (bit) higher quality which makes it easier to shoot the same way.
      Then again, i might be completely wrong as i started archery (with this bow actually) like 4 months ago. Hope i helped out a bit.
