Serpent's Embrace also adds a whole bunch of dialogue to the DLC, which is lovely since it hardly had any screentime in the base game. I definitely agree with your verdict, and am happy to have gotten the chance to play the DLC. Thanks Kineer!
Lots of people complaining that isn't the case (extra dialogue). Seems to be potentially a bug but just as likely people rushing through Shattered space & missing everything. 😂
It is always a pleasure listening to you comment on the game. I have the DLC installed, but have not yet played it, life interruptions suck, so I wanted your overview, rather than the detail provided by your live streams. That is exactly what I got, and, again, I thank you for it.
I am on Xbox and thought the DLC was priced okay. Interesting your take on many of the reviewers who really did not put any time into it. I thought the content was fair and the final battle had enough difficulty in it to make it interesting, just the sheer number of npc’s kept me watching the screen. The only problem/ bug I might have had was in the cave where I was getting one hit by the vortex creatures playing on extreme. As the cave did not have a timer I wound up just shooting everything to make it out. Some of the dialogue I found too long but other than that no real issues. I did not do all the side quests. My plan was too go back after starting NG+ and do a few at a time. As it turns out I just started NG 18 and was picking up Salina’s package at the Red Mile planet. When I entered the orbit the Oracle pops up. Was kind of hoping this would not happen but it looks like every New Game Plus will also wipe out any progress in Shattered Space. Once I get some decent gear and weapons I will have to do the Oracle again to open The planet. The only other issue I had with the DLC is the loot was absolutely terrible for me. One legendary melee weapon through the whole thing.
Thanks. I think it's very helpful to hear how it scales at NG+18 or higher levels. I've not done a lot of iterative testing on drops yet, but it feels like another opportunity to do that.
I noticed the level 17 I was taking through on Xbox has combat set to Hard. This explained a lot but I decided to just leave it. Definitely makes it fun.
Not enough dark vortex cysts lol. A lot of the big battles are super fun and challenging. A couple of the side quests that unlock achievements are really interesting. I’d give it 8/10. I have thousands of hours in the base game from early on and I feel like SS was well done. Now just trying to collect all of the suits and apparel.
I'm going into my 2nd play through and I feel like I missed a bunch the 1st time. For me the dlc is a solid B. The bugs are not ideal, but I feel like the quest markers being vague is more of a problem. Not that I'm a fan of loading a save like I did for the last part of the main quest because it didn't complete, but the quest with the son was a bigger challenge wandering around the camp hoping to accidentally find the clues. This will all get fixed at some point, if we just have faith in The Great Todd. 🤣
I think it may have been more vague to engage us all to find things on purpose. A lot more like real life. You have to find it. At first I did criticize saying 90% was nothing and most was at or around the city at first. But after doing the temple searches, I realized they left a lot to not pop up till you get close enough. Still would like to see the rest of the planet more populated with things to do. After all, they have been the only inhabitants for decades.
Currently doing the other side mission, got to the cave, ventured inside, noticed the mission marker sent me back to my ship... Of course, rather than accept that Bethesda is inept, i second guessed myself and went back to my ship. Now, trying to find the cave again feels impossible, been wandering around for an hour and a half trying to find it. Has definitely soured my experience so far
Are you talking about the Cave that's just on the map in other grid? That popped up for me while randomly landing (which I think is rare). Later it was in a mission board quest (Dazra security center). I was a little surprised that it took me back. On other characters, I've yet to find it.
I thought it was … neat! The custom city area is very rich in custom designed locations. There were plenty of side quests and the gear is ok. I think the plasma ball weapon is really weak compared to even an inflictor. But it looks cool. I wish Andreja was more involved. I also wanna see if I romance her if my status as Promised changes her dialogue with me. Glad you liked it
I agree about the weapons. All of mine are way more powerful. I don't mind playing with powered up weapons either. After all Its hundreds of yrs past our time.
If it’s just farming negativity it would happen more often. This game was scored quite fairly given how many issues come with it. I was always shocked people scored the base game so high.
I'm curious where you believe an objective scoring system exists so please let me know. I am deeply skeptical of the claim but am willing to look what you believe is useful. I suspect I'll need to produce a video specifically on the subject to explain the phenomenon though. I could quickly and easily find multiple large content creators that are making provably false statements, followers that are repeating them, across platforms that are part of the problem. At the center of this, larger creators are effectively 'printing money' using hordes of normal people caught in the cycle. Recognizing it the first step in the process. An inability to recognized the pattern is typically a sign of being consumed by it. Escaping it is challenging at a personal level and people will fight vigorously to defend what they will claim are their own positions. Interestingly enough, those beliefs were embedded. It's similar to cult indoctrination, but substituting algorithmic repetition over complete personal immersion. In any case, it's fascinating to watch but ugly to be near. Starfield is objectively good and successful based on the existing player base and sales. "Issues" are a subjective level in the grift. The technique works, see UA-cam. Literally one of the largest and most successful companies on the planet relies on it so arguing it doesn't work would be odd. The only question is who is exploiting it and in what areas. The more you know the more you'll be able to defend yourself against the dark arts. ;)
The base game isn't so bad actually. I had a buggy game. This last character, I stayed away from the quest and have been going all over the universe. The only downside is that some of the places I have been too may have broken some of the quests now that i'm going back to the main story. They supposedly fixed that. But still can't get them to trigger. I did finally manage to get Andreja's quest to complete. Walters quest keeps popping up to do but nothing happens when i click to talk to him. Did sam's. Sarah, she's a lot of dam work trying to get hers to trigger. Did her's in another play through but honestly I can't stand her uppity attitude lol.

Nice review man, I appreciate your observation based diligent approach. I enjoyed the DLC as well albeit the writing in the last mission was quirky. The negativity, especially on the main Reddit has been become so toxic, I really hope BGS does not take it to heart, they made a great game. Nosodiumstarfield reddit so much better lol
Thanks! and NoSodiumStarfield is a great group. The other seems to have a personality disorder (as a group, not referring to any specific individuals). :)
I was annoyed at one thing, the armor in the displays and lootables were all ground crew or normal junk from the main world. I didn’t find and Va’ruun armor on stands or manequins. It should all be Va’ruun or zealot. I had a mod to allow looting bodies so I found a lot of cool superior zealot suits. They’re really good. But you can’t get them without the mod.
It's taking more work than I'd prefer to get armor. I did get my first Epic+Superior piece today just wandering around. So with time, I'm hoping there will be some higher end Va'ruun items. The designs are nice. Edit, it was a drop from a level 84 'boss' level Zealot with three health bars.
Yeah I haven't got to play it, it just won't start for me, I own it. Life has been really busy for me so I really haven't tried that hard to deal with it, I hear others are having the same issue. It sucks because I went through all the hassle of having Andreja as the wife when the dlc was supposed to launch and poof no launch. Hopefully they fix it. So can't say if the dlc is good but I'm so taken back about the negative reviews, not sure what people expect for the cost of a few fancy coffees.
I do like the DLC. Tho l did have to grav jump quite a bit before l found the space station. And the delivery quest didn't complete even after l delivered all 3 items. Plus it kept popping back up as my current quest. Just a hint to everyone save often. I didn't and my game froze as l fast travelled and didn't seem to register any auto saves. So I'm having to start again pretty close to the beginning of the main story line. Have fun.
I was surprised it shows up so fast. In my lower level character (Xbox), I ended up jumping around a lot more. Once I found it, I stopped looking at the details of why it did NOT show up in some systems. I've always suspected that even a shipping crate would stop it.
There's an achievement that requires killing 10 Redeemed. After doing the main quest, I had only found a few. There were a few more around the POIs outside Darza. When I started farming the POIs elsewhere on the planet (especially the dense area near the "Cave" marker on the global map), I found more than enough. It's just a matter of 'working the map' over time.
I looked at CB2077 later and it's showing 0 hours there too. I'm thinking it's a Steam tracking issue, i.e. if it's DLC they don't track it separately.
I have almost 5 days into the game and didn't even know about the fang quest. Didn't watch the follow through on another channel because of childish action of the group. Still no apology from them. But how do you get the fang quest to start?
It's great and I went back and completed it today. it's at an unmarked POI. Just check out the landmarks behind the stern/back of the big crashed ship at the main city. You will find the quest there. it's awesome. Bring ammo!

Excellent work on the review and your playthrough, Kinner. I enjoy your playthrough sessions and also like your review and analysis posts.
I've been having a lot of fun with the combat. I set enemy damage to extreme and player damage to easy so its pretty intense and fun.

I did go out and try to liberate some mining gear to complete the set. No luck so far. Just a string of dead miners. Left Andreja on the ship. ;)

I took my buggy/Rev-8 out and drove all over the place (with the scanner up a lot). Those sites respawn as well after some waiting.

Step 1: Phase Time X
