Thankfully, all my plugins have been updated to run as Native, so no Rosetta nonsense. I think the Apple monitor is overpriced. Bought a cheap monitor instead. That said, I am not doing video production, just music. Also, I use a power conditioner with IEC outlets, so a fixed 3 pin mains cable is annoying.
Great video very informative, I’m in exactly the same situation, upgrading from a 2012 iMac to a Mac Studio and Studio Display. Like you I want the Apollo Twin but can’t afford it yet! Top tip about the wireless mouse and keyboard, that’s saved me a lot of head scratching, thanks.
I´am in the same boat and will swap my iMac Late 2012 with a Mac Studio next week. Your video was very helpful because I guess I will need the same adapter to connect my old Thunderbolt 1 Audio Interface (Focusrite Clarret 8Pre) to the new Mac.
Hi mate, Gosh was in the same predicament about 5 years ago when my digi 002 rack headphone out died. (had an old G5 Tower) then new imac, apollo interface took over. now i'm going to be moving over the the mac studio m2 max and maybe a cheaper monitor?
Hey buddy. I'd deffo look at a cheaper monitor. The one I got doesn't blow me away at all. I'm sure there's better out there. Refresh rate is far too low @60
@@DerekDavis213 i went with the m2 max w/ 64gb, was worried that going to 12 core from 16 threads would be a downgrade but I haven't run into any issues. It's max is 150w but even video rendering it doesn't pull that. I'm in CA so part of the savings is staying with in a certain tier of usage, i save about 100 dollars a month depending on aircon use, which isn't fighting the space heater of the mac pro anymore.
@@DerekDavis213 the Mac Pro is 5,1 8 core (2x 4core xeons) and I put a 8gb rx580 in there. Was running it as a windows machine, recently got a steam deck and there’s little need to turn it on anymore. My legs do be a bit chilly with it off tho.

I did the same thing with my old i7 iMac.

Great video I’m about to do the same thing , going from a Mac Pro 2008 machine to studio m2 , wish me luck ! 😂
Thanks buddy and good luck!
thanks for the entertainment.....i didn't expect Mr Bean to do an unboxing 😅😅😅😅😅😅
You’re very welcome 😉
I've paid for half the studio in power savings over a mac pro in just a year... i love it.
That’s a great point! Nice one pal 🫡
Mac Studio with M2 Ultra uses up to 290 watts.
If that Mac costs over 5000 USD, how much are you paying for electricity? LOL
