Hi! The questions for this video were pulled from qnas I did on twitter and patreon, but there were a few questions from there that didn't make the cut for this so I made a vid answering those for patreons! Some of the questions were things like do genetics matter in aiming, should I predict or react, how do underaiming and edge tracking differ, a brief overview of tension management and a few others. I plan on covering most of these in videos here in the future but in the meantime u can check it out there if you are interested
Hello viscose, I have a question, there's 1 specific exercise that I enjoy more than all others in aimlabs: pokeball, medium size wall, many small targets. How bad would it be if 90%+ of my aim routine was just repeating this exercise? I practice it in different ways, focusing on speed, on smoothness, on acceleration/desacceleration, underflicking, fluidity, etc. I have fun in it and I love being top 3 weekly every week and progressing by playing it a lot. The amount of time needed to invest in many other scenarios is frustrating, so I only do tracking and dynamic clicking occasionally to complement. How bad am I fucking up? Is it a complete waste of time or am I still getting a lot better at mouse control, just going a bit slower than people who train in a very 'complete' way?
@@sebaba001 you most likely enjoy it because you find it easier than others, i would say you should work on other aspects of your aim on different scenarios. practicing 1 scenario is like practicing for a single gunfight ingame, you only run into a specific scenario 1 in X games. i would suggest using voltaic benchmarks and finding what weaknesses you have in your aim and then pick scenarios based on that.
I have some very important questions as well: - When do I know that I'm on a skypad? - Is it good to infuse my mousepad with pickle juice for more control? - Have you heard about the bowling-min-max method? It's when you put a cucumber on either side of the mousepad to act as guard rails. - What does pot of greed do? - Is it good to use resin on the back of the mouse to make your hand stick? Oh yeah and since changing to the LGG saturn from the Aqua Control Plus, I can definitely confirm that mousepads are more important than some people realize. Oh yeah, and if you'd ever want the Saturn inside your spreadsheet. It's "textured" on the verge of abrasive, barely any static friction, quite a bit of dynamic friction with a soft amount of stopping power. I know that probably doesn't mean anything in your sheet since it's based on numbers, but as a guideline, it might work. And lastly, SCOD is more revolutionary than people think, because game studios might be inclined to add SCOD into their games to prevent hall effect users from gaining too much of a competitive advantage. I would either not allow it in pro play, or wait until games have it implemented to allow it.
@@iitsMikeB I do, the campaign sucks (it's like a Battle Royale and they ruined Makarov) the multiplayer always been the same thing that they don't fix until months later, and warzone looks like the same shit as before but with the old movement that I hated so much (people going at speed of the light with that movement, and also the old time to kill I also hated). This last one is kinda my personal opinion though.
@@no5428 Well there you have it. I actually find the old movement to be sluggish. I prefer pressing a button to sprint, and that's it, instead of having an extra useless sprint function (tactical sprinting) and having to pull off a street fighter combo to sprint for 2 seconds. I much prefer the movement pre-mw19.
I upgraded my mouse from my old super heavy G305 to an OP1 8K and I gotta say it was night and day, my aim didn't improve but my aim consistency was so much better, way less variation in my aim. Now I'm consistently bad at aiming

g305 is super heavy😂😂😂😂 actual soyboy. (If you had said you switched because it is a better mouse I would have agreed, but talking about the weight is utter nonsense)
As a former college athlete, I like the way you described the warmup vs practice. In swimming, your practice focuses on developing your technique, but also pushing you to your limit and then pushing that limit further and further. Warmup at a meet or competition is simply to get the blood flowing or "warm" so you aren't jumping straight into your event with your muscles not ready/not in the mode of working. You might put effort into a warmup but you aren't trying to tire yourself out.
Hey viscose! I was just coming back to gaming after taking over 2 years break. Which also brought me back to kovaaks! I still remembered you from the leaderboards and I had you added in stream back then. Well, imagine my surprise when I found you actually uploaded in depth videos that helped me out and not just vods. I am very pleased with your content and have been binge watching them lol. Thank you for your videos!
With equipment, there is a bit of diminishing returns with more expensive gear. The difference you will see from going from 60 fps to 144 is greater than the difference you would see from 144 to 220 or whatever. I also appreciate the statement about the most important thing is going to be time put in. For any skill, the main determining factor in how good people get is the time they put into practicing. There is a good veritasium video about how to improve at any task and I think a lot of it is relevant here.
@@cold4835Wish I had 240hz, still on 144 myself. The big difference I believe is motion clarity. I have a very old 144hz monitor and when I turn even slightly fast in a game, all I see is insane ghosting and blur, nothing else. Good motion clarity is the biggest buff I think, and bying 360hz+ monitors for the sake of less input delay is completely useless imo
@cold4835 Nah i think it's kinda the opposite. The higher you go the exponentially more negligible the input latency improvement is but the motion clarity benefits continue to be very high even comparing 480hz to the still quite high 240hz
This videos literally opened my mind into aim, and how I was so wrong in so many aspects in my aim, I just started implementing your tips and stuff you said in this videos and my aim improved and I'm just starting to aim train correctly within 1 week and yes I just found out that my arm is very weak in tracking and my wrist is always over flicking or under flicking, and my fingers struggles to micro-adjust. I know that you've probably seen messages like this a lot but I just wanna say thank you for always putting out quality content ❤ You're pretty much the reason why I started putting effort into improving my aim.
Feel like some people (myself included) think a lot on mice and mousepads. But one thing I feel like most people think, is that having a bad mouse or mousepad gives them the thought of “no point in trying until etc” I personally have really good scores on voltaic despite having a bad (dogshit) mousepad. Naturally when I do switch I will do better, but if I didn’t already work on getting to that level beforehand switching to better stuff wouldn’t make a difference. And I feel like the thought of being held back, holds people back the most.
i agree with u too, i reached around jade level with 60 hz, a g305 with no gliders and a hyperx mousepad that was fucked up. Then when i got a new pair of gliders, a new razer strider and 75 hz (lol) i was instantly frying more
It's also funny because if you're gonna hyperfocus on hardware like that theres way more important things to worry about. Mfs will focus on getting an 8k polling 0.1ms latency mouse while also having a weak bloated pc that's adding 30ms of input lag to all their inputs anyway 😂. I've turned off Windows settings that have improved my performance more than a new mousepad (thanks microsoft for constantly making your OS worse)

i would like to add to the target or crosshair question that u can be intune with the center of ur monitor which only gets better with experience so u dont have to even think abt ur crosshair but if ur new to fps you are most likely going to be focused on where u are aim rather than what u are aiming at cause u are naturally not as intune etc, could be bad wording makes alot of sense in my head though
Imo if a mouse is comfortable and does not feel restrictive, as if it's too big, there is absolutely no use in thinking that you would aim better woth something else. That's all I have learned from going through a bunch of mice. After actually getting better, now I can perform the same with basically any mouse in game.
I do believe playing the game is the #1 way to get an edge. I was much better at the games I play when I had a lot of free time to practice & improve in them, even though my setup at the time was incredibly modest compared to what I have now
Would you consider doing a guide on how to setup your desk in terms of ergonomics like chair height, desk height , monitor distance and height etc. I feel like this is often even more important than mouse, mousepad, keyboard choice but noone really talks about it.
I had once the problem that I tried to switch to a higher sens in games like cs and valorant, while at first I felt like I lost all the progress I've had before and fast forward to today, I'm using a sens that's pretty much universal to any game but maybe it was the wrong approach, my problem right now is that it's very inconsistant, there are days I've calm aim and others it feels too fast. But I'll definitely try to use now different sens in different games, I hope that will fix my problem.
When you move the mouse with your hand, your wrist and arm automatically follow. No one worries about whether to write with their wrist or arm when writing. It’s a natural thing.
To add to the point at 10:39, If you find yourself thinking that your setup or choice of peripherals is holding you back, I encourage you to pick up a Fighting Game, where pretty much none of that matters. If you think you need an arcade stick or some other kind of special controller to do so, you really don't. Normal Xbox & Playstation controllers work just fine, and leverless arcade controllers, which are considered some of the best FG controllers, are pretty much glorified keyboards anyway. Playing a Fighting game really does help with your mental around external factors like this, so I hope people at least think about this.
You should definitely upgrade your peripherals to get to a certain baseline though, since a 5 dollar office mouse on a bad mousepad and 60hz monitor would definitely be considered as a limiting factor. Not to say that it's impossible to get good with those specs, but it will definitely be a lot harder.
I agree with your sentiment. And think that most players shouldn't worry about peripherals. However, there is a competitive advantage to having the best technology. Leverless arcade sticks have been proven to have an advantage in frames and inputs than other controllers, besides maybe a keyboard. So if someone with a high skill level wants an advantage then upgrading would be worth it IMO
@@pitl I'll agree with you there. Though I'd guess that the amount of money that you'd need to put in to get those areas up to an acceptable level (without touching your PC) is more or less the same as my arcade stick (roughly $100, and even then, an arcade stick is more of a "feel" thing than anything else). I'm not sure though, I don't know too much about PC gaming (I'm a console peasant).
@@Cryfails I do see where you're coming from, though that largely doesn't matter unless you're playing for money, where people are taking all of the advantages they can get (even if there aren't many in the first place). You can get a leverless controller and shave off as much input delay as you want, but the beauty of fighting games is that they can be played on nearly anything. I play on a really bad TV and still get somewhere in Street Fighter.
The one thing that literally changed my aim is definifitly the mouse change, i used to play with Logitech g pro wireless (the heaviest one) and my hands are so small (17.5cm x 8cm) that i needed to swap to fingertip grip 5 years ago (i was apex predator in this painful condition 😂) and today i got my G-Wolves HTX (still with fingertip grip) my aim is much more consistent and better
Hi great video once again! I know you mentioned that different sensitivities cater to different games. For example, higher sens being preferred in overwatch because of the fast paced and all over the screen gameplay, and lower sens being preferred in more accuracy demanding games like csgo and valorant. Shouldn’t high sens players switch to low sens in csgo and valorant to play at their highest or most optimal levels? for example Demon1 in valorant plays using 160 edpi vs forsaken who plays on a sens that exceeds 700 edpi. Both are incredible players, however, wouldn’t forsaken benefit more if he lowered his sensitivity? You don’t really need a sens so high that you can do like four 360s with one mouse swipe 😂
I think it was very interesting that you brought up finger tip aiming, I play osu! with a mouse so I naturally started to do that and didn't even realize it also would you say its better to have a lighter mouse? I use a logitec G502 so its pretty heavy and I'm thinking about getting a new mouse
I think last win SOCD should be allowed because although modern keyboards achieve it through software, it is technically achievable with only hardware.
Hello, I've just come across your UA-cam channel and I'm glad to be one of your newly subscribers. I've just got a question if you dont mind answering when you have the time. I play Valorant mainly and that game has to do more with crosshair placement and flicks. But is it a good idea to focus on tracking as well, that way i work on the fundamentals of aim in general and is able to carry it to mang other games? Thank you.
what sens do you use for valorant and another question was why some people say that your senstivity should be able to help u 180 easily.. and i have a very large hand and i use a razer viper mini does that effect my aim
Another question that is prob really common is "do you recommend training before or after a play session and do you recommend single scenes or playlists like the voltaic fundamentals playtlists" top tier video
Depends on personal preference imo I'm a low stamina player and so I can't learn/retain anything if I'm fatigued, so I play in smaller chunks, fresh so I feel better about my sessions but some people thrive off being warmed up or whatever so keeping the ball rolling is important
Personally I always train after I have played. I only do a tiny warm up before playing and noticed I generally play much better like this and can make better decisions. If I aim train before platying, I kind of fall into an auto pilot during a match and just try to aim, forgetting what's actually happening in the round.
For me ideal fps session would look like this: Quick warm-up before, less than 15 minutes (even less than 10 is okay). Then game (1.5-2 hrs). Then skill training session (20-30 minutes). Plus, if you play long sessions you should be taking rest breaks if you're playing for multiple hours at a time
A question I had that wasn’t answered is whether you should play with your whole arm on the table or wrist? For example, VTmatty rest only his wrist on the table with a little bit of forearm but shroud, killuminati, beaulo, and others use rest their whole arm on the table. Which anchor point do you use? Not the question of “are you a wrist aimer or arm aimer” but what anchor point do you use or recommend.
viscose this was all wrong how dare u not say there is an objective best sensitivity that gives me aimbot automatically with 0 effort involved >:( ok but fr this was a great video and im sharing this with ppl cus its sooo good for ppl starting out
ty!! a lot of people talk about using higher sens to practice as a universal positive and while it does have benefits i think that framing is a bit misleading what changing your sens when training does is shift the muscle group that training is focused on. for precision focused tasks, decreasing your sensitivity increases the margin of error for your movements and because of that will make those tasks slightly easier, so training on a higher sensitivity will make the tasks harder as well as shifting focus to muscle groups more suited to fine control like the wrist and fingertips. The thing is though, the same applies the other way where tasks that are focused on speed will often be easier on a higher sens, and by playing them at a lower one you can work on your arm speed. it really just depends on your goals and what you are playing.
@@ViscoseOCE Thank you for the detailed response, this is a really helpful insight. Personally, I play Valorant @ around 55cm and always struggle to understand weather I should be training at my in game sens, or at say 1.2-1.5x my sens. W Vid Viscose!
HELL YEAH VISCOSE UPLOAD!!! WOOOO!!!
I think it was very interesting that you brought up finger tip aiming, I play osu! with a mouse so I naturally started to do that and didn't even realize it
also would you say its better to have a lighter mouse? I use a logitec G502 so its pretty heavy and I'm thinking about getting a new mouse
Honestly, I don't even play games much anymore, but your voice is so relaxing. Great video 💙💙
When I watch a viscose video my brain cells increase
Good video as always
YOOOO VISCOSE POSTED AGAIN LETS GOOO❤
I think last win SOCD should be allowed because although modern keyboards achieve it through software, it is technically achievable with only hardware.
wow what a insane tracking speed and precision you have, never seen anything like that... looks like aimbot :D kinda jealous ngl XD
Thank you.
Wicked luraaa 🫶🏻
amazing video, once again
i love your videos. keep it upppp 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Another viscose masterclass

LETS GO NEW VISCOSE VIDEO MY GOAT
Another W video!
this video is so good thank you viscous
W Viscose upload
sitting optimum down at 2:14 is such a flex
Curious on your thoughts for optimal monitor sizes for FPS games as well as the effectiveness of using 4:3
it's pretty simply 24-27 inch with 27 being in the uncomfortable range for more people but is getting increasingly popular
what sens do you use for valorant and another question was why some people say that your senstivity should be able to help u 180 easily.. and i have a very large hand and i use a razer viper mini does that effect my aim
i am jimmy 🥶💯
Another question that is prob really common is "do you recommend training before or after a play session and do you recommend single scenes or playlists like the voltaic fundamentals playtlists"
top tier video
Depends on personal preference imo
I'm a low stamina player and so I can't learn/retain anything if I'm fatigued, so I play in smaller chunks, fresh so I feel better about my sessions
but some people thrive off being warmed up or whatever so keeping the ball rolling is important
Personally I always train after I have played. I only do a tiny warm up before playing and noticed I generally play much better like this and can make better decisions. If I aim train before platying, I kind of fall into an auto pilot during a match and just try to aim, forgetting what's actually happening in the round.
For me ideal fps session would look like this:
Quick warm-up before, less than 15 minutes (even less than 10 is okay).
Not the question of “are you a wrist aimer or arm aimer” but what anchor point do you use or recommend.
i love this yap q&a
VISCOSE UPLOAD HOLY SHIT
when should i aim trained before playing or after?
hey viscose thanks for being a goat...
viscose this was all wrong how dare u not say there is an objective best sensitivity that gives me aimbot automatically with 0 effort involved >:( ok but fr this was a great video and im sharing this with ppl cus its sooo good for ppl starting out
queen
wonderful stuff
What is your reaction time? How big of a surrender difference do you think reaction time makes?
mines like 160, i dont think it matters much at all rly even for reactive stuff
Great video. Can you touch on the benefit of training at higher sensitivities than you play on? See lots of contradictory points online..
ty!! a lot of people talk about using higher sens to practice as a universal positive and while it does have benefits i think that framing is a bit misleading
what changing your sens when training does is shift the muscle group that training is focused on. for precision focused tasks, decreasing your sensitivity increases the margin of error for your movements and because of that will make those tasks slightly easier, so training on a higher sensitivity will make the tasks harder as well as shifting focus to muscle groups more suited to fine control like the wrist and fingertips.
I think there is a lot of misunderstanding online, so your input is very much appreciated!
🗣🗣🗣babe wake up!!!
