I think it comes down to Capstone's beautiful productions of them. The Queen productions are decent, and the Winsome originals are obviously pretty unfriendly. But the Capstone versions - done by Ian O'Toole - just appeal visually a lot more.
@@ifnyou yeah... They're still not the prettiest games on the market and games shouldn't be judged solely on their art. However, people do. It's sooo much easier to talk people into playing a nice looking game with cool components over an ugly one with very basic ones. Oh, theme is another big factor. For example, "East India Trading Companies" looks like a really good game. The issue is the history. If someone realizes and points out the glaring history of those companies in real life? Well, it becomes an elephant in the room and puts a sour taste in people's mouths towards the game.

I think almost all of our games feature positive player interaction. :)
Technically it is a Cube Rails game, and not an 18XX game. Two very similar, but distinct genres.
