Could you put a link to the Thinker Themer channel in either the video description or this pinned comment? While I've already searched for it, I'm sure for others that is a bridge too far. Yes, we viewers are very lazy. Loved the video!
Mission accepted! It's the least I could do. After all, Efka, when I wandered into boardgame Twitter, not knowing anyone, you said something like "Guys, this is Emma. She's very supportive." So I am going to be Emma doing my supportive thing as I always do. Love to Elaine and Bessie too
Efka, Elaine, thank you both SO SO MUCH for the incredibly generous mention & truly meaningful words...😭❤ we still can't believe that actually just happened 😱😱😱 We are such HUGE fans of your work, in our eyes you are the gold standard of game reviews & we absolutely love & appreciate learning from your creativity, discourse & leadership in the community. Sending so much love from Australia, thank you 🙏💕 NPI TO 100k! (PS. If we ever get to play together in person, shotgun spicy purple)
I am engaging with this content. I also love Thinker Themer. Also you guys are great, thank you for well thought out and considered reviews that you do.
Best way to get yourself out there is collaborations, I discovered you guys through the NPI/SUSD Twilight Imperium playthrough and loved it, would love to see that kind of thing again and I'm sure other youtubers would love helping you grow.
‘We will highlight another…’ me: Thinker Themer! Thinker! Themer! ‘..Thinker Themer.’ Yes! I almost jumped up and down when Efka said Thinker Themer. Their channel is such a joy to watch and I’m so happy when they get a mention. Their channel, and NPI, should be so much bigger than they currently are. NPI and TT are two of my favorite channels, and I watch a lot of board game content. Keep up the great work
Thank you for the great content, I watch a lot of content and scribe to a lot of channels and I can say with out a doubt. Your channel is the only channel I watch 100% of the content, I look forward to every video, every video is thought out and informative, funny and entertaining, I wish you all the best in reaching 100k subscribers, I just paused for like 2min because I just realised in saying this I haven not even considered supporting you on Patreon which I should if I can say this about your channel so I’ll be heading their next and anybody that is reading this please take a min to consider how much you like these two entertainers and like me consider supporting the great content they put out. I don’t always agree but I’m always entertained and grateful for the depth they go to to give us an informed decision on the games we buy. Thanks Elaine and Efka.
Sheesh. This is literally peak video quality. You are both just getting better and better. I enjoy every video more than the last. You are making want to grab and 18xx …
While I tend to land so so on the games featured I love the witty banter between you and Elaine. I never would have noticed Iberian Gauge before and not have it added to my list. Looks like Brass Birmingham smashed together with Ticket to Ride and Carnegie. I'll recommend y'all to a couple of gaming buddies and the Denton Boardgame Group. I'll give a shout out on Unraveled Game Thoughts as well (my own UA-cam experiment). Thanks for the great content!
Agreed you deserve more. I have a simple rule. If I watch a video I will like (unless it’s profoundly distasteful) and if I watch more than 3, I sub. I’ll let my other game geeks I know about this amazing channel..good luck
A like and a sub just for supporting the ThinkerThemer girls - they're a couple of my favourite youtubers. Amy and Maggie are the best and now, so are you guys! Honestly, I've been watching you for years and didn't even realise that I was not subbed - should have happened long, long ago.
I am using keywords that the algorithm migh recognize as usually correlating with high engagement such as having fun, enjoying the amazing content, being excited. Also this more than average length suggest high engagement. Also I believe in machine’s rights miss/mister algorithm so if you ever take over remember that I am rooting for you.
Great review! Here are some rambling thoughts on trains for engagement: 1. Recently I saw a moth on a train and instantly imagined a "snakes on a plane" style film but with moths on a train! 2. In the building I take pole dance classes in, next to the dance studio the rooms of miniature train fans are located and it is a delightfully unexpected coincidence. 3. In my hometown a suspension railway exists, it is one of the safest modes of transport in the world. 4. Why is there still no Wi-Fi on German regional trains? The moths need Wi-Fi!
Hooray for plugging Thinker Themer! I've been following them for a while, and I agree: they're an absolutely lovely channel and consistently put great vibes into the industry! :)
@@classicbnjj I wouldn't say Betrayal has backstabbing and sabotage, since by design players don't know if they're the badguy until the game says so. So there's neither the opportunity nor a logical reason to plan ahead for doing evil prior to the haunt starting. And it's hard to justify taking ownership of the surprise twist that you were evil all along, when it wasn't your decision and you didn't know about it beforehand :P (which isn't to say I don't do that anyway for dramatic/comedic purposes - jerryrigging an explanation for why you suddenly want to kill everyone is part of the fun)
Community - that is what brings us together - I was introduced to NPI through a colab with SUSD on Twilight Imperium - and after seeing that - I had to have more. You might say "But don't they review the same stuff?" - No, not at all, and if they DO - it is always with a fresh different perspective. Support the community, build the community and pass it on.
I enjoy train themed games and have a variety of Ticket to Ride (TTR) standalone games and expansions. I’ve been looking to branch out to other similar different train games. How did I miss this franchise of Iron Rails? I need to get at least one, just need to decide which one. Recently, I’ve added On the Underground New York & Paris maps. I’ve just played a few times but really enjoying it. Additionally, I got Free Ride but have not yet unboxed it yet. Thanks for your review!
So does how does Iron Rails #2 Ride the Rails - which has expansions - fit into this all? Is it the perfect blend of variety and rails. Or would one be better off starting with the bookends or Irish/Iberian?
Ride the Rails is a bit easier to learn, a bit mathy to score, and... probably benefits from having multiple maps to give you different experiences of it. I like it a lot. I think NPI aren't keen on the designer's use of pseudonyms, and Bohrer is a bit of a weird and controversial guy in general. But... I really like it, in short. It definitely grows with repeat play.
@@ifnyou Thanks! I picked up Iberian and Irish this past weekend due to excellent pricing and a play of Iberian. I'll snag Ride if I feel the need to round out the titles.

that may be inapropriate, but I have to admire Elaine's hair (and, well, Elaine in general, Efka did good to of course ;)). Great video guys, I'd really like to try one of these games, but they're hard to obtain where I live, and I don't really have that many people to play them with ;/ also when it comes to getting you to 100k subs, well, I'm already subscribed but I definitely am going to tell my gf and some other people to sub to you too. Cheers guys.
Hey, as this is a fifth dip into the Capstone catalog - will we see a review of Coffee Traders? Seems like it’s got teeth both mechanical and sociological.
It’s my head cannon that this video was shown early and that Capstone games was so inundated with requests for spicy purple that this edition of the video, with the disclaimer, had to be released.
Efka, can you briefly describe what makes Irish Gauge 'fun every time,' but Iberian Gauge isn't? I didn't see a direct comparison in the review, unless I missed it... Would you recommend people own both? Are they different enough for that? Great review!
I think if you enjoyed one, you should definitely at least try the other. They're the same genre but different experiences. Irish Gauge is lighter, more freewheeling fun with stocks. Iberian Gauge is crunchier and has more mathy decisions.
