I just came here to confirm that its actually that easy , i just got a jeep with a 5.7 was avoiding doing work on it havent really looked at the engine until this morning , the spark plugs are literally right there in your face i like the simplicity
Solid video, just fyi, I wouldn't 'drop the spark plug in until it hits' because you WILL ruin your gap. Also, .044 is the recommended gap, NGK's come pre-gapped at .043 and Champions are pre-gapped at .045. I stick with Champion Copper because that's what the engine 5.7 likes to use. They don't last as long but who care when they're $2 a piece. Also copper transfers heat/electricity better, iridium and platinum are only used for longevity, not performance.
@@JCortez98 I've never seen electrical wiring made out of silver, want to know why? It's only 7% more conductive than Copper, it costs $400 a pound compared to Copper at $3.50 a pound. Silver belongs on Jewelry, not on spark plugs. Why would anyone use something that costs over a hundred times more for only a seven percent increase?
From the manual - """"Spark Plugs (5.7L Engine) REC14MCC4 (Gap 0.043 in [1.09 mm])"""".... The plug # is misprinted - Should be "RE14MCC4".... I'll use the spec of .043....
Won't all that anti be pushed into areas on the plug you don't want it to go once tighten down? Mybe all of it smushed up instead of going towards the electrical component. 🤔
@shwtyblck when I spoke with them, they advised against coin style gapper or don't do anything at all. They said they spark so well the gap isn't as important. But really, they just want to make sure u absolutely do not touch the tip.
@cinzearperez6992 Torque is one of the most critical aspects of spark plug installation. Torque directly affects the ability of the spark plug firing end to dissipate heat to the cylinder head. A spark plug that is under-torqued will not be fully seated in the cylinder head and heat dissipation will be slowed.
@@ZacWade thanks. I just got 1 used with 56 k, its a nice truck id like to keep it running great as long as i can, i subscribed to your channel to learn how to do that. I appreciate your content.
Thanks! Changing the spark plugs believe it or not was one of the most noticeable mods I did besides the custom tune! I highly recommend the ngk iridium plugs
If anyone gets to around 100k ok their 5.7L. If it’s all original I’d replace the coil packs aswell. Those will corrode or fall apart at the terminals where the boots connect. Also add some dielectric grease onto each end of the boot. A magnetic wire helps too when removing the plugs.
I saw this video and iridium doesn’t not burn well on these motors. I will be using Champion Copper. ua-cam.com/video/dgFVN9iMnLg/v-deo.htmlsi=e3uReort_Qd713uW
Best for what? Definitely not corrosion resistant. Certainly not life span. Its not as durable as iridium. Copper can’t handle as much heat as iridium. I don’t see where it’s the best

Thanks for this video. My 5.7 shakes terribly at idle sometimes and this was the issue a shop in Maryland wanted $650 for the job. Doing it myself.
Yeah good think is that these cars are so easy to work on
Probably need some new engine mounts too
thats cheap. in in s florida and they want $960
@@ChristopherClark-x8v bruh that’s actually insane !
bruh they wanted 880 here In Indianapolis
Dealership wants almost $700 for a sparkplugs change... thanks for saving me $500+ doing it myself!
Dealership is a rip off!
We call em 'Stealerships' where I'm from🤬
They wanted to charge me $800. I found a guy who said he'd do em for $400 but if I can do em why not?
LMFAO, you coated that spark plug thread like you were icing a cake, jesus christ man! WAY too much. A tiny dab on one side is more than enough.
The one plug shown with the anti-seize had enough compound to coat at least 6-8 plugs.... PERFECT example of how NOT to apply.... Scheeese...
Did you torque the spark plugs to factory specs? I'm reading on the manual between 18.5 to 22.5ft lbs on the 5.7s
Thanks for making it short. (There had to be 3 or 4 videos which were almost 1/2 hour to show how to change hemi plugs.)
Wow very simple first time trying this gave me confidence
You drop some great videos. Very informative. Thank you
Ngk advises strongly against use of any anti-seize.
Good to know
@shwtyblck yes, not trying to be a dildo or anything, but want ppl to know that.

Definitely going for longevity
Will go with performance and 2 buck a piece. If it lasts 20k, good enough.
Silver is better at conducting. Brisk RR14S

Great vid thanks! The link for the spark plugs you have on here says these are gapped to 0.44 but you said the durango needs 0.43.

Are these the same steps for a 22' RT?
Hell yeah. Good video bruh fckn loved it.
Thanks nice & simple
Can i use those sparkplugs on a Challenger 2013 RT 5.7 HEMI?
Should be the same ones yeah!
Do we need torque wrench 🔧
There are torque specs but I just hand tighten and then use a wrench to snug it. Don’t tighten too hard
@@ZacWade thanks!
Way way way too much anti seize there bro!!! 🤣
Anti seize CAN hurt it. It acts as a lubricant and can possibly help it spin out
You just earned a new subscriber thanks for the tips!!!
Thanks man!
Thanks!
Can this be why my 5.7 shakes a little at idle and accelerating
Yes. I have the same problem and that's what the recommended fix was. The shakes are caused by a spark plug misfire
You need to torque the plugs and ngk advises against a coin-style gapper, the iridium tips are extremely fragile to touch.
Really? Thats good to know. What if they don't come gapped to the correct specs?
@shwtyblck when I spoke with them, they advised against coin style gapper or don't do anything at all. They said they spark so well the gap isn't as important. But really, they just want to make sure u absolutely do not touch the tip.
@shwtyblck of course if bent down to the point of contact, get different plug.
U do not need to torque them down, not needed i’ve done over 50 of these Durango‘s.

I have code P0307 on my 2020 dodge durango r/t which one is cylinder 7 is it the far one in the back on driver side?
Yes did you fix it
No torque wrench for tightening plugs?
it’s not needed
How many miles before you changed them?
100k is what dodge says. I’ll do mine sooner at probably 50k

@ZacWade u got the ix iridium, those are rated for 50k, the laser iridium are rated for 80-100k.

You didn’t even show anything about the hard ones to get to. But you showed the easy one
Should be using copper plugs, on older models
Way way way too much anti seize there bro!!! 🤣
WAAAAY too much, just commented on it before i saw your post.
I know I wasn’t tripping when I saw that 😂
😁
Would that be bad lol ijs asking before I start
You should never drop the spark plug on the cylinder because it can be closed when it hits.
2 spark plug for cilindre
Don’t gap it or use anti-seize
Why not gap it to the factory recommended specs?
That is way to much anti seize
Ngk says , NO ANTI SEIZE!!!! NONE.
Way to much anti seize!
Copper is the best..

Do these plugs work on 2013 charger 5.7?
