    Operation cost for a year
    Electric - 700 X 12 =8400
    Petrol - 5000 X 12 = 60000
    Maintainance cost for a year
    Electric - 30,000 for batteries
    ( not revealed yet by company, just an estimate)
    Petrol - 12,000 for service
    Total annual cost estimate
    Electric - 38400
    Petrol - 72000
    Difference could be roughly around 30,000/year
    It is a great deal to switch to electric. 👍

    It gets on my nerves when people compare original stuff to already established products in the market, like this scooter being compared to Tesla, different leagues, vast difference in budget. Bring that money over and look what we can do. It is not an "Indian Tesla", its "Ather" just Ather.

    When you compare it with petrol scooter
    1) they gives an average of 50 Kmpl
    2) suppose price is 60000 for petrol one
    3) For 10000 Km petrol scooter goona cost you
    60000+(10000÷50)×80(price)
    =76000 (plus service cost)
    Around 80000
    But for electric one
    4)for every 10000 km you have to pay less than 1500
    Net cost will go to at max 130,000
    Market adoption will start when this kind of scooter will cost around 80000..

    If you have a scooty providing milage of 40km which costs about 60 thousands, hardly you would ride a scooty for 6 to 7 years.Now the cost of petrol a scooty uses is not more than 2000rs for necessaries.6years which is 72months*2000rs=144000rs of petrol.+60000rs bike+10000 of services and repairs= 214000the total cost of a petroleum bike if you use it for 6 or 7 years ..........
    ELECTRIC BIKE-------
    Cost---1.25 lacs +
    Services and repairs of 6 years 25000 approx =1.5LACS
    DEDUCTIONs--------
    214000-150000=64000 is the difference which you save after completion of 6 or 7 years.64000/72months=889rs you will save per month if you use ather electric bike when compared to petroleum bike.
    LETS TALK ABOUT DISADVANTAGES OF ATHER ELECTRIC BIKE.
    1) spare parts could cost more compared to a petroleum bike.
    2)you will save hardly 900 to 1500 per month.
    3)delicate body.
    4)should be cautious where to park, should take care of it like a baby.risky if you park in public areas.
    5)cannot be used roughly when compared to petroleum bike.
    ADVANTAGES-----
    1) ECO-FRIENDLY
    2)OUTSTANDING AND FLAUNTING.
    3)LATEST FEATURES WHICH COULD NOT BE THAT MUCH USEFUL😅

    Frankly speaking electic vehicle revolution wont happen untill Li-ion batteries are still running the show. They are expensive, less energy dense and Li mining really causes harm to environment.
    We need solid state battery or sodium metal batteries with graphene to truely acheive the dream EVs

    • @vroombk
      @vroombk 6 років тому

      Ayush Sharma Because unlike petrol motors, the AMC covers everything except tyre replacement. Which will mean brake pads, brake oil, battery service, pick up and drop cost. Not so casual after all ha?!

    • @filipbunalti
      @filipbunalti 6 років тому

      Thanks for the details, but still an order of magnitude more expensive, my friend. Brake pads are dirt cheap, they last for half an eternity, and brake fluid even longer. Even more so in city-riding that this scooter is designed for. For context, Honda cars (not two-wheelers, but cars) have 3-year AMC contracts in 10-15k range, inclusive of oils (but not brake-pads, pickup/dropoff).

    The battery life and KM run on a charge will reduce drastically like any other battery product eg. Phone... What the producers of these bikes also need to inform is how many KM in full charge will be run
    1. After 10000 km
    2. After 25000 km
    3. After 50000 km.
    Am surprised no one reveals this data !

    I have no problems with the price, considering that there are almost zero feul costs, extremely low majntainence costs etc. The only thing that is problematic for me is its dependence kn Aether owned charging points. There should be an option to charge it anywhere, just like a phone. Otherwise it becomes too limited.

    Only the problem is the charging of battery...we have to wait for hours till the completion of charging...but if that battery is installed in such a way that the passenger can easily replace simultaneously with an another same type of battery which was charged at home ( a battery charger suitable for the scooter battery can be provided at homes ) Hence a battery chamber should be provided conveniently that the passenger can easily remove the empty battery and replace with the charged one...and same time that empty battery can be kept in charging at home...The benefit is saving time...no charging at outside... !!! Only we need an extra battery and a battery charger...!!!

    Someone would buy a 60k scooter and save 65k which could be spend on fuel, though it is good for our environment but 1.25 for a scooter which won't be reliable in raining or ruff and tuff use as well as you'll have to have a knowledge of charging points around the city!

      Chribin Mattews you didn't get what I said bro, the way we face rain in India, flooding roads and everything, plus the points of charging can be found on Google maps but not each city have it and those who have they don't have in multiple places, what I mean is it is not easy to find a charging socket how easy it is to find a fuel pump, this all could be accepted, if the price was a bit low.

  • @Unknown-rj4qj
    @Unknown-rj4qj 5 років тому +7

    Apart from the cost, one has to pay an annual subscription fees of 9,900 for best plan and the battery needs to be replaced after every 5 year which cost 35,000 means 7,000 annually . So you have to shell out atleast 17,000 annually. And the milege is also very low and for short journey. So I will still go for a normal bike.

    • @Unknown-rj4qj

      @@harkharajbharali808 In India today there is only 35% electricity generated from renewable sources and 65% from non renewable sources like coal plant. So even if you buy this and charge at any regular electricity port say 100 unit then you will use 65 unit of electricity from non renewable sources mostly coal power plant in India. So you are not making very significant change to the environment. If electricity for charging comes from solar or any other renewable source then only it will help the environment.

  • @TheTECHTract
    @TheTECHTract 5 років тому +13

    No issues with the price. Electric vehicle will cost more. But that range of just 75Kms is a big let down. Again fast charging will take 2 hours. Anything less than 200Kms of range is hard for mass market adoption. Think for a moment, you spend 1.25L and then you buy a permanent tension of running out of juice too soon. Your riding range is limited. And as the batteries will fade with time this will even get worse. And battery replacement will be expensive too.

    • @RaJeshSinGh-rs8nb
      @RaJeshSinGh-rs8nb 5 років тому +4

      Vipan Kumar 75 kms is a lot of range sir.
      Point being, this is made for city commuting, saves up on fuel, less things to break down, no vibrations and feels like you are gliding. Plus Athers got you covered on almost everything fromt battry to motor and free installation of charging point at your home with 24/7 roadside assistence. There is alot of service they have to offer.
      I being a resident of bangalore, can travel from north bangalore to south bangalore and back in a single charge. And it is very convenient.
      For Now in India, electic veichles make alot of sense for city riding given the traffic conditions and fluctuating fuel prices. You can quite litrally pay off the EMI of the scooter from the fuel expenses of the month.

    • @RaJeshSinGh-rs8nb
      @RaJeshSinGh-rs8nb 5 років тому +2

      And yhea forgot to mention about the charging, The fast charging puts 80% in an hour. That is impressive actually.
      And even if you dont have access to one, its not that hard.
      Suppose you are going to your office and then you can put it on charge and when its time to go home, it ll be 100%.
      Or do the same when you come back home, put it for overnight charge.
      Just have to time it right.

    Now a touchscreen works when you use you fingers because your fingers can conduct electricity. Your leather gloves can't.
    So a small hack. You can cut small portion of a Kurkure packet to cover the top of your finger. Stick it your glove such that shiny silver side of it is outside. You can use a fevikwik for this.

Which is economical in the long run. People need to think and do the math. I am sure their sales rep guys are fully trained to pitch this to their customers..

    Cost per km is not 10 RS . Simply don't say that. Regular scooter cost somewhere around 60 to 70 k. So difference amount on investment is 40 to 50 k. More .
    Interest on 50k itself will increase to 35 to 45 RS per lt. Added to that battery replacement cost will take it higher than other scooter per km cost.
    Even though technology is good , cost is on very high side only.
    Charging is another headache at different points as it will not be in all places

    1.25 lacs is price ....Lets do some practical mathematics..
    Let us say we ride 70kms per day.
    So monthly comes to 2100kms..
    Say petrol mileage 50kmpl..comes to 1.5rs/km..
    So monthly expense is rs.3150 plus 250rs oil. so total 3400rs..
    for 3 years petrol and oil price 122400rs+scooter price 60000 ie..182400rs
    At this cost we get Ather s450..For 3 years it is guaranteed..First year service free..Rest two years ather plan charge 20000rs..
    So total 142400rs..
    But after 3 years let us say we change battery 30000rs. 30000rs for ather plan so total 60000rs for another 3 year ride...Which petrol will cost you 122400rs..
    We didnt calculate the service charge of petrol scooter which is extra...
    So perhaps..............

The only suggestion I would like to give is there should an e-paper display in the front, because they are much easy to see in direct sunlight and consume less power. Everyone complaining about the price, you really need to set your expectations right. You pay upfront and save a ton on fuel costs and electric vehicles have lesser moving parts, meaning you aren't servicing it as regularly as a petrol vehicle. Plus you also have lesser wear and tear on the moving parts of the scooter, so you aren't swapping old parts for new ones as regularly too. Finally, it's a honest to good well engineered product, it's not built like a cheap ass 60k scooter, remember most 150cc Vespas cost very close to this. You literally pay like 1/5 th of what you pay for fuel

But the initial investment for conventional scooters are almost 50% less than Ather 450. This will be more or less equal to amount saved in running cost of Ather 450.

    Atleast 200km at full speed(90)
    Charging for 1 min - 50km (fast charging station)
    Home overnight charge -full (200)
    This should be min requirement in a ev(bike) otherwise it is not worth it.
    Other day I have to travel 30 km up and down, if I put my faith in this vehicle I will be stranded in a nowhere. People sell petrol in bottles outside(villages) , if somebody out of fuel. I don't feel a pinch about the price as its a quality and great product, but their subscription model of 8000+ INR a year is too much an ask, after spending a premium on the product.
