I don’t wanna be an English teacher but I feel like this dance symbolizes their relationship with each other; she hears the music and wants to explore it, then he comes along and they “dance together”. She seems to enjoy it for a while but there’s more to explore, and she goes on by herself and he progressively gets more aggressive and wants to control her movements until finally he has enough of her antics and wants her to just sit down and behave because he feels he’s losing control of her

Haha, I guess you got it. Because that's exactly what it IS. A contemporary take on a horror classic. And WHAT a horror it is! Instead of crumbling in the face of Duncan's masculine authority, Bella simply overlooks it entirely and goes on about her trial-and-error method of learning about society and the options it offers her on her own. Look at how she completely loses interest in his attempt at schooling her on how their affair should be going and wanders off to have a dance, which he then feels compelled to join in. Never heard of this film, but this is the short that made me decide I’m going to go see the film. It feels like dancing backwards, almost as if the body is disconnected from the mind. Saw this last night, she hands down is winning her 2nd Oscar for this role, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Yorgos takes home Best Director and Adapted Screenplay for this film, I feel as far as Best Director it feels like Nolan’s to lose, Scorsese will get nominated but probably won’t win, but Yorgos absolutely is in the running now. As far as Emma Stone, only Gladstone for Killers of the Flower Moon has any real chance of beating her. We’ll see.
