- Goalkeeper - Conor O'Keefe
Coach - Russell Hoult
Ladder Reps; volleys, progressing to volleys and medium height saves
Close-range volleys; volleys off the post, both sides
High Balls; endurance work with high balls,
Crosses; crosses with shots from the edge, deep and shallow crosses, and crosses with close range reaction saves simulating a volley.
Goalkeeper Sessions is a series dedicated to the training I undertake to improve my ability as a goalkeeper. Every catch, every mistake. No editing, no music, no pretence. Just hard work.
If you are a coach or a goalkeeper, of any level, I hope these sessions can benefit you in some way. I will be watching them too, making notes, and coming back to improve tomorrow.

Even though I would never get to do these drills watching from behind from the camera angle allows me to imagine these in game. Because of your drills it allowed me to take an incoming cross last game and had possibly my best outdoor game. It was a satisfying 1-1 draw which we're still top of the table. I'm originally a futsal gk.
Thanks again
That's brilliant!! I'm really glad that these videos have helped you, and congratulations on being top of the table! That's a brilliant achievement!
@@ConorOKeefe another question unrelated to the video :) Have you ever played a season where you've had a few more draw games than you've wanted. In those games where you conceded either you felt it wasn't your fault (assuming it was the defenders fault say from a bad clearance) is there anything you think you can do to help the team or it's just a matter of playing the best you can and hope for the best for the outfield players?
Thank for another great vid, these will help me so much in training and matches so thank u
That's great Kaj! I'm really glad that they help you!
You are the best Conor❤️❤️
Thank you!!

Thanks mate!
Try get the habit of keeping your knuckles inline with each other while going into saves, easier getting to those top corner shots :)
What do you mean? I'm not sure how keeping your knuckles inline helps?
Never heard that coaching point before
solid
Thank you mate
Good job Conor Great stuff I hope u get to be a professional one day
Thanks Filip, I hope so too!

Np Man How are you not pro man haha
As always an amazing video! Anyways, today when I searched for what fitness components a goalkeeper needs one of the things that came up what "Anaerobic endurance" Thanks to your videos I have found all the components but I was just wondering. Is this Anaerobic endurance and is it important for a goalkeeper? I always take this on the internet with a grain of salt but I trust you as a fellow goalkeeper! Again, thank you for the amazing content! Keep it up! :D
Hi Alex, yes some of these drills would help to improve Anaerobic endurance, and it is important for goalkeepers. However it isn't more important than all the other areas of the game. You want to have some part of your training which helps you work on this, but it is a case of balancing it alongside the other areas of goalkeeping that you want to work on, and not over doing it!
1st 🔥⚽️🙌🏽
Thank you!!
Great video mate! And how is the progess of a professional contract? Anything good or no?
Thanks Mychael! Some conversations, but nothing sorted quite yet!
nice training bro, good job man... What is your height
Thanks Paulo! I'm 1.82m
What club are you playing for now?
I don't have a club for next season yet!
Oh ok . I’m sure a lot of teams want you !!
Quick question, how do you guys deal with criticism after you let in a goal??? My team goes off at me and discourages me and I can’t perform. How do you do it?
You have to forget about it and move on quickly, otherwise it might lead to you making more mistakes! But your team should support you, like you support them. Be confident in yourself, remember how many good saves and good games you have had, then go and enjoy the game and do your best! Don't let criticism get to you!
This is a great question. Unsure if there's a right answer but the question would come down to what culture does the captain/team want to accept?
Are you letting in howlers or just ones you can't save?
I had a similar situation where I had not gk for five plus years plus also was getting into outdoor gk. I'm originally a futsal gk.
For me I had to tell some players what they were saying wasn't helpful ie blaming myself when it was the defenders mistake. Again I think everything has to be in balance. Ie a Sunday league comp can't have the same expectations to a semi pro team
Another time I once asked a friend to gk for our team. Our captain grilled him once and I approached my captain saying our GK was quite upset in how you spoke to him. Our captain gave a quite upsetting response. In other words a good captain should also look after you if it's affecting you as well
ayske1 if there is one where I should’ve gotten to it and I don’t save (just like one of those times you just make a small mistake) I get GRILLED by my defence, who are just as worse. The captain tells everyone to calm down but one of the defenders HAVE to have their way, so he starts to talk smack to everyone
