Just one tip on your taping, you should start from the bottom and move up so there is not an edge for water to get trapped on or seep through.
Be weary of signal plus and eBay Amazon antennas , they are rarely what they claim to be. Look at McGill 6db or 9db or Rak 8db , the rak 5.8 is not as good as McGill 6db. Second the lightning arrestor will not protect you from direct strike, and you should place the arrestor were the cable enters your home. Because lightning or nearby lightning will induce current in your antenna , your mast and your coax cable also. Your arrestor placement only protects the antenna part but not your cable. The mast should also be grounded. I would have kept the lmr600 the small cable at the end would have negligible loss compared to what you will loose on the lmr400 vs 600.
Lmr400 is 0.051db per ft (if it’s good TMS cable) lmr600 is 0.025db per ft, so at 30ft 400 would be 1.53db and 600 is 0.75. Also the connectors on the cable also have loss cheap connectors on cheap cable could loose you 0.5db+ for each connector good connectors 0.2db. Lightning arrestor also has loss could be up to 1db. On your 600 setup the last adapter cable for n to rpsma you had was very short loss on this would not be significant compared to loss on 30ft lmr.
Thank you for the content. Someone must have told you already but just in case they havent. I believe the bolt next to the red plastic is meant to attach the lighting cable. Unbolt a little bit the screw, get the cable below and bolt it again. Also i would put it the other way around so the cable does not make a U turn. But then again I am no expert so everything I said could be wrong.
Hey just wanted to chime in and say thank you for taking the time to make this video. I just set mine up today and your instructions were on point. Great video. Subscribed!
Thanks Alton I appreciate it
Video was kinda long. But very helpful and super informative. No second was wasted! 🍺
Thanks lol
So you dont crimp the plastic you crimp the metal under the plastic and put the sheathing of the wire under the plastic then heat sgrink the plastic to creat a weather proof seal. As of rite now you ground isnt connected or its just barely rubbing which will effect your antennas signal.
Where did you buy flagpole? Brand model?
Same question 😎
I bought on Amazon. There is a link in the description box.
Nice setup! Since your Ethernet is going outdoors, you may want to verify that it’s Cat6A.
Thanks Brian
Rainproofing your antenna connection. You should start your wrap from the bottom of the cable connection and work your way up to the top of the antenna connection . This way rain has no chance of entering in between the wraps.
Pro tip right here ^^
I don’t think my HOA would approve, but looks good!
Thanks Kevin.
With the 30' 400 you are at close to 6.8 dBi.
How to you come to that conclusion Tom n what website did u use?
I live in El Cajon I put 3 feet wood in between because you don’t need metal close to antenna
Do you have any issue with Helium Hotspot app, mine it is keeps freezing, I can’t press anything.
Having Power Over Ethernet helps a lot with cable management.
Thanks. We use POE on my latest video
@@CesarCinema Sweet! I'll check it out
Bro you only pinched the plastic on your lightning arrestor. You didn't crimp any of the metal connector. 7:32
Nice setup though! I like it!
Thanks Caesar!!
No problem Ryan.
buy a bobcat or a sensecap
rak and mntd are having problems
I have a goldspot and it's more offline because of the sd card
Can you recommend a wiring bundle from Amazon? I'm not sure what all hardware I need. I got a bundle with my Sensecap, but I'm not sure what else is required, other than LMR400.
thanks for the video, very helpful. Do i need the lightning arrestor if I'm not going to ground my setup? (we rarely have any lightning here)
Lightning arrestors primary function is discharging static electricity from air flowing over the antenna.
I didn't use a lightening arrestor, either, but did plug it into a surge protector. Not sure if a surge protector can withstand a direct strike, tho. So, we'll see. Lol!
Think POE would be better for this setup
Save having such a long cable
Hi great job but you must Cramp the red ring connector closer to the ring it is not tight around the wire or you can sodier it you missed it should be tight around the wire. everything else is great
Can you explain more? I did clamp it to the red ring.
@@CesarCinema You only Cramped the bottom there is about a 1/8 to inch plastic watch the video I have done it myself I mean no harm it is to be cramped toward the top of those ring connectors. is all about the witnesses the higher the better 80 and higher 125 is cool stay safe
Great video I’m one week into helium mining I’m earning only a tiny amount at the min next week I’m gona try
N get my 5.8dbi antenna on the chimney Gona order a thicker cable now and hope I have better result there’s 4 of us in our hexagon do u think that’s to many ? Cheers from Nottingham England 🏴
Thanks buddy. Upgrading your antenna is definitely the way to go. The antenna will help you out no matter how many people are in your hex. Let me know how it goes.
What differences in returns in HNT with the different indoor/outdoor setups?
Indoor setups with stock antenna earn around .16 HNT a day n a good outdoor antenna can earn .60 HNT a day.
Looks good, but why don't you put a bracked on the roof trim board and to the pole for more stability? just a thought. :)
That was the original plan but I really don’t need it. The pole is pretty sturdy
@@CesarCinema the best of luck with the project. ;) I'm still waiting for my bobcat.
Good luck to you too bro. That’s why I bought on eBay to get my miner faster
hello. I live in the UK I wish to buy an antenna like these for helium mining , could you tell me if there are certain brands I should look for please? if not brands then anything in particular I should be looking for , many thanks
Poynting have great antennas, also procom. Also Paradar seem to do good ones
Make sure it's a "tuned" antenna and you will get way better results. Pricey but will benefit you in the long run. Hearing as many witnesses as possible since beacons are few and far to come by now
Curious to know, how is this setup holding up? Did you use all the items from Amazon? Particularly the cables from Amazon? What is your daily HNT on average since you made this set up?
The setup is working perfectly fine. Everything is from Amazon. Earnings went down but on a good day .35 HNT.
Thanks…I’m going to do similar set ups based on your other videos. I’m currently indoor antenna now but plan to go outdoor very soon. Noticed earnings went down tremendously since the update on March 25th. It seems like the antennas that are outdoors and high elevation is the way to go.
What's your earning difference after installing the new outdoor antenna per day?
I’m getting .1 more HNT per day 👍🏻
I have read and seen videos that recommend the lightning arrestor be installed closer to the ground vice at the top. In addition, the arrestor should not be directly connected to the antenna. Not sure which is correct but thought you should know.
After 3 months, how much your earnings increased?
LMR 400 is male to male? Can I have the unit in the attic and antenna outdoor? I am in Central Florida, I am not sure if product will hold summer heat in the attic.
The LMR400 that plugs into the miner is RP-SMA and the other side depends on if you buy a female or male antenna
Please properly crimp that ground wire. You just squeezed the plastic part of the connector... you need to crimp the metal base+plastic together.
Dont trust the shrink wraps on lmr 400 ....it needs tape or it seperates easily with few tugs
you should have start taping from bottom and move up.
I don't think your original antenna was an 8Dbi as it is way to short ... my only advice is do not buy from ebay or amazon, but only from the source, RAK Wireless etc.
Yes it was an 8 dbi Antenna. I earned 6-7 times more than a window setup with that antenna so it was fun while it lasted. I don’t like ordering from Rak because they haven’t sent me my miner n it’s been 7 months so I don’t feel like giving them more of my money.
Ill never buy from rak again. Over a year waiting for the rak 2 and they send me some crappy miner instead. F RAK
Why 10? HNT will only limit you to 9 dbi. HNT will slow your miner down if you have anything over 9
Because there is dbi loss with the long LMR400 cord and lightning arrester so it’s more like 9dbi at the end of the day. And I updated the app with 9 dbi not 10.
@@CesarCinema yes that makes sense
Minoxidil update?
I stopped using because my neck area got red and irritated. So my beard hairs fell out a lil over time. But I did get to keep a good amount of hairs.
Hey that’s good to know still glad to see minoxidil gains are strong and permanent for the most part
Are you selling the 600?
No. The homie Pat is gonna use it on his new setup
The Rak is better you have more ram with the rake 4G
But the fast sync is a game changer bc when the rak goes offline you have to wait 3 days for it to come back online.
I order 20 from eBay for 420usd each bro
Nice.
Thanks for the great video. I'm not a miner, yet. Just trying to figure out how to do it.
But as a side note, I noticed that you used a plain ordinary cat 6 ethernet cable outside. I recommend replacing with a outdoor rated network cable. The sunlight will quickly degrade the regular cable and it will be much more prone to interference.
I hope your family isn't using any water taps when lightning hits that 20 ft metal lightning rod you just grounded to your indoor pluming. My god have you not heard of Google.
You do realize plumbing is grounded lmao
Make sure it is not just a power strip with breaker. Make sure it's an actual surge protector. Battery backup will save your miner
The further the unit is from the antenna = more signal loss which = less money msde
what's the difference between wifi and ethernet wiring your miner? Is one better than the other?
Ethernet is better bc it doesn’t cut in and out
Cool video 🔥 setup!
Thanks 🙏🏻
Do you also have any attic antenna setup videos?
Sorry I don’t
N connections have rubber seals inside of them
eyyyy i'm in San Diego too! Thx for the great Video! I'm trying to get my miner set up. what do you all think of using a grounding rod/stake directly into the ground instead of running it into the house?
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 San Diego. We did the grounding rod at my buddies house.
Would a pvc pipe work better to hold the satellite?
Join the helium discord. In my experience. The all of the metal gets a silicone taped all the way up to the PVC on the antenna.
Thanks for the tip.
where do you get that POLE ?
Amazon. Link in description
How long is that 10dbi antenna, exactly? And is it omnidirectional or directional?
Nice set up! You should pull 3-$400 a month, easily.
It’s approximately 4ft and it’s omnidireccional
What would that set up earn nowadays?
@@CesarCinema @Caesar Realized there is no regulation w these antennas, so, they're selling them at different sizes. Add omnidirectional vs directional and it gets slightly confusing, unless you know what to look for. My 5.8dbi is 36", my 8dbi is 44" and my 10dbi is 60" inches. I've got 1 shitty location that's being blocked back by a mountain, but I'm determined. Mounted my 10dbi on the roof, but need to do what you've done here. Where did you get the extention pole, Caesar, if you don't mind me asking?
As mentioned already you need to crimp the connection more on your ground wire. Also use Dielectric Grease on your exterior connections.
I prefer the silicone tape instead of the dielectric grease. I did crimp the connection on the grounding wire. Do you have a picture or can explain how to do it more? Next time I take the antenna down I’m going to replace the 12 AWG with 10 AWG so it fits better but that’s what I had to work with.
It looked like you maybe just crimped the plastic part of the connector, crimping the metal part will actually take a nice squeeze with those crimpers. Setup looks cool tho, wherw did you get the flag pole material?
