this video is SO HELPFUL I've always wonder why I have such a thin and creaky fry scream and why that fry scream often doesn't last long! it's because I initially found the spot for fry scream by breaking my falsetto voice and I haven't break that habit. Sir you have so much great insight in extreme vocals
Awesome - their styles are very diverse, melodic and at the same time powerful (especially Sam Carter has a decent technique, I see it on the recordings from live shows)!
I do the falsetto voice check too ^_^ wow there's so many approaches in this video, one made me think of a crow, another one like a motorbike revving haha. And I'm finding it easier to hear the difference between your fry and false cord now that I'm more used to your voice I think, I love that you showed the transition. I still hate my fry but I think I'm understanding your way of doing things better with this video.
This is probably the easiest way to learn if we do things properly or we try too much with something (for example volume or pitch). I remember times when my "falsetto voice check" was failed almost every time after I've done anything with yell scream or high pitched false chord scream :D Recording materials for this video (and a short, free course on Udemy) took me around 3,5 hours but beside my voice being tired a bit, I felt totally alright and after couple of hours I was ready to practice with 2 of my students the same day. You mentioned something important - indeed, it's good to be used to specific style of people that we watch because each of us sounds a little bit different. Another thing is that each of us understand similiar stuff a little bit different too so it's good to know someone's "system" to fully understand his/ her ways of doing and describing things. I always try to understand the aproach of a specific person that I watch materials from and it really helps to learn more. I have to check out your new stuff, I bet your vocals kick ass as usual! :D
Oh my gosh wow, I don't think I've had many (any?) times I failed the falsetto check but I guess I've always been very careful because I was so nervous about losing my cleans. Sometimes I worry I need another type of check though, because my head voice is quite strong, it actually took me longer to understand singing in chest voice when I first got lessons. So sometimes I will pass the falsetto check, but still feel my chest voice is not quite right! But woah 3.5h is a long time, I've never tried screaming for that long 😅 Yeah I think also because you're a guy, it's been harder for me to translate your voice to how it might be in my voice. But I'm starting to hear more especially when you show them side by side. You have a lot of consistency compared to me. I haven't recorded any new music in a while, I've had some mental health struggles and really doubted my vocals for a while, especially having no luck finding a band (sometimes creative differences, sometimes people just being no good lol). So the only new thing lately was this video where I got carried away on Snapchat trying to work out what's what: ua-cam.com/video/tTB9617Nj30/v-deo.html I'm thinking to record some more covers this year though, and maybe just do my solo music again, give up on finding a band in Sydney. Plus I realised I recorded a song in 2019 that I never released! So I'll finish mixing that and put it maybe on Bandcamp in the next month or so 😊 Someone asked me to do a cover with fry though and I'm still too scared 😭 Thanks for the encouragement btw, means a lot right now while I'm trying to get things back on track!
From what I observe during practicing vocals with girls/ women is that the most of them is used to sing with the upper register (mostly when they have experience in choir or singing lessons) and they don't use their lower register almost at all. It's sad because being a man doesn't mean to sing only with the chest voice and being a woman doesn't mean singing in the head voice but unfortunately some schools and teachers still stick to such a pattern of thinking. What is interesting is that for some females I practiced with learning to growl was a huge help in finding their lower register :D Anyway, you sound decent from 0:59 to 1:05, really cool! I would expect that finding a band or people for a band in Sydney can be such a challenge, damn! I will gladly listen to your unrealeased song once it will be released :D Take care!

I can't remember because it's a pretty old video. I will check it later because now I'm very curious. This video is a part of a free vocal course. I heard about that band but damn, now I listened to their music and it's really cool! His vocals are pretty intense, for example here: ua-cam.com/video/wVO5AfpJ430/v-deo.html He sounds a little bit constricted, maybe he didn't himself good and he screamed way too loud which caused extra tension and pressure, which is not the best thing for the comfort and quality of our vocals, stuff like that happen very often.
I can fry scream a months ago in a correct way.. But this week i suddenly cannot do the fry scream anymore and i hurt my throat.. I don't know why that happen.. Can you help me bro.. What is going on with my scream?
Hello! There might be several reasons, for example: 1. Maybe you didn't rest your voice enough and practiced too often? 2. Maybe you are tired (for example you don't sleep long enough or your sleep isn't deep enough and your body is exhausted)? 3. Maybe you started to practice some new technique (for example false chord or yell scream or belting)? 4. Maybe you had a break from doing fry scream and now, after that break you try too hard instead of gradually building the volume and intensity of your fry scream? 5. Maybe you started to do something differently and for example you try too hard, even if you didn't have longer break from screaming? I can go on and on with such a list but it can turn out that none of those things fit your situation. Can you tell a little bit more about when you learnt to fry scream (for example 3 months ago etc.), how did you practice, did you have break, do you do heavy physical activity or work (or you started to do it recently), do you sleep ok, are you tired, did you have some illness recently, etc.? It will be a huge help for me to help you. Maybe I will even record a video about that. Cheers!
@@sibilaextremevocal Yeah bro.. Maybe i don't have enough sleep and i try too hard and sometimes i just scream without any warming up.. Thanks for this man.. I'll try to avoid these things next time.. Peace from Malaysia 🇲🇾❤️

good job. My dear friend, I have a request from you. Please give me a way to communicate like Instagram ID, WhatsApp, etc. to send my voice to you to determine if my voice is suitable for rock and metal. Please help me, I'm very skeptical, thank you
One of my students observed that too during our lesson and I was like "really? :D" - I didn't notice it but indeed it lowers. I think it may be related to opening of the throat. Since taking opera singing lessons I've worked on implementing the best possible technique for opening my throat both for singing and screaming (especially low screams or growls). When I write this I play around with different sound colors and pitches and I observe that for a "neutral" scream which is not too high, the larynx lowers but if I go for a "goblin" or black metal high scream or I use twang, my larynx slightly move higher.
