    I am trying fc since a long time and I had issues with loosing breath before achieving an actual false chord scream.. THIS VIDEO IS A GIFT! This is going to complete the (or at least my) puzzle to understand fc! Thank you so much man!!!

    I can do the kargyraa but during the transition I can isolate the distortion and use some support, but I have never been able to mix in any of my voice with that and the distortion sounds nowhere near as brutal as what you have, mine is distorted but there's not much voice in it, it doesnt feel uncomfortable though

      It sounds interesting, I will gladly have a listen and share my observations if you like! Feel free to send me a recording on email - xvocalcenter@gmail.com :)

    I watched your 30 days false fold experiment recently. In that old video you was learning to achieve the Alex Terrible tone. And this two short examples at the end of this video shows that you succeeded! That's sound very very great, congratulations!
    But if I remember correctly your false fold distortion was not that great after that 30 days. I want to ask is it just more practice or you changed your approach or technique to get that Alex's tone? Maybe you use fry scream as addition to false fold scream and that does the trick?

      The 30th day is muted by YT because of the copyrights issue. I've uploaded it separately, and I think it sounds pretty lit, although the mix could be done better, vocals of course too, because that challenge was a way to motivate my self to get back my false chord after being ill (probably on co.vid) which made me lose about 8 kg of bodyweight, mostly muscles that I've been building during 1,5 previous years. Even walking upstairs 2 floors was tiring after the sickness, so that's the main thing. I felt that I fully recovered and started to make decent progress about a year later.
      That's also when my hybrid screams started to work better (vocal fry scream + kargyraa or distortion for singing, or kargyraa + voice crack + fry scream). This year, when I was performing a song on karaoke, I've observed that there's something different in the way I do lows because they felt much more compressed and wet, a bit like fry, but they had a thickness of false chord. It turned out that it was a lower hybrid scream, but surprisingly it was closer to fry scream than false chord.
      Yesterday, 3 students of mine sent me the newest vocal demonstration of Alex Terrible and I decided to give it a shot and today I've recorded this tutorial. The two samples I show in the end of the video also feel like some kind of hybrid screams, but closer to false chord, and they sound better than the fry hybrid I've discovered earlier this year. The only downside is that it requires a SHITLOAD of energy :D I've got tired after 5-10 minutes. For the first time since being seriously ill, I've felt that my stamina and strength are too weak to handle something vocally, although I do cardio and strength training 3-4 times a week.
      We will see what will happen during next weeks and months.

    When I try I feel like my sound isn’t that thick and I feel pain in my arytenoids and I can’t get that low to get that much distortion

    • @sibilaextremevocal
      @sibilaextremevocal  Місяць тому

      If you feel that distortion comes from the upper back part of the larynx, it's more "clicky" and feels heavier in the throat, then maybe you are using your arytenoids more than the false vocal folds, and instead of false chord distortion, you produce the arytenoidal rattle.
      If that's the case, it would be good to work on the placement and breath support, to activate the false chords more.
      It would be easier to tell what exactly is going on, of I could listen to a short recording of your practice. If you have a one, feel free to send it on my email: xvocalcenter@gmail.com - I will do my best to help!

    This did wonders for helping “fill out” and add body to my fc growls. Do you think this could be used in reverse to help reach higher fc screams? My fc highs currently sound comparatively thin and voicey when compared to my growls

      One of my students asked the same question a few months ago, we tried it and surprisingly it helped, both of us :D Thanks for reminding me about it, because I forgot!

      @@sibilaextremevocal any chance you could post a UA-cam short demonstrating that? I figure it’s the same process, in terms of adding more breath as you move higher in pitch, but I’d like to hear it in action. Thanks either way!

      I will test it with more students and if it turns out useful or it will be possible to create more specific exercises, I will record something. Thank you for the idea!

    Can you show in your tutorials where you feel distortion? I have a problem where I accidently used epiglottis for a long time.

    • @sibilaextremevocal
      @sibilaextremevocal  3 місяці тому +1

      Last year I've recorded a short video in which I show a comparison of false chord and epiglottis growl:
      ua-cam.com/video/Bbd6qrl47C0/v-deo.html
      Epiglottis creates more static, monotonous, grittier sound, and false chord feels more open, dynamic, and better supported. Epiglottic growl usually focuses more on the larynx and feels tighter and less comfortable. It's also much quiter. The vibrations in the larynx are much more intense too.

    I understand that you have to reflex more core muscle as true vocal are disappear. But is the amount of air you blown are the same before and after the true vocal disappear?

    • @sibilaextremevocal
      @sibilaextremevocal  Місяць тому

      In case of some people, it's similar but in my case false chord is more airy, but not because I push more air. The sound just feels more open.

    When I remove the kargyraa my false chord is very weak and it doesn't produce that thick sound you make, what am I missing??

    • @sibilaextremevocal
      @sibilaextremevocal  2 місяці тому

      It's hard to tell without listening to your attempts. Maybe you relax too many things and you get rid both of voice, but also distortion from the sound.
      The idea is shortly about decreasing the amount of voice in the sound and as the voice is gradually fading away, focusing on increasing the amount of distortion and compression (narrowing, sharpening of the sound).
