The fact that you picked up the photo and treated it with the same respect and care as the previous owner had, speaks volumes as to who you are as a person Ben.
I have a little storey regarding the 2Litre Triumph Vitesse! My family home was across the road from the Triumph Service Station on the outskirts of Coventry on the A45. My father loved his cars and we had had quite a few Triumphs, including the 1600 Vitesse. But Dad had his engine blue printed and wider wheels put on it. Because it was still new, it had to go for its regular services across the road. My Dad got a phone call from Mr Wills, the Triumph service manager who asked for a chat, so he went to see him. Mr Wills asked my father why he had done the mods to a brand new car. My father told him, it had handle so badly because of the narrow wheels and wideth of the wheel track, plus the engine was gutless! Sometime later, my father got another call from Mr Wills and on turning up, he got given a set of keys to a 2Litre Vitesse and got asked to take it for a while, to test drive and to give a report back on it.
My father bought a new MGB drove it to London and drove it back took it to the garage and handed it back saying it was the worst car he had ever driven, he then bought an Elan as a kit which I helped assemble , I went to school in a brand new Elan when the others were in anglias and 1100s
We had a Vitesse in the early 70's. It was a nightmare in wet conditions because it would not hold the road. That would put me off having one again, I am sorry to say.
Hiya Ben, many many centuries ago I used to work on these, more specifically the Herald not the Vitesse but they are basically the same car. When the car was on the ramp did you wonder how you would change the clutch on these? The gearbox won't clear the chassis rails, that's because it comes out inside the car. If you remove the carpets there is a fibre glass material bell housing cover held in place by a few bolts and If I recall that's how you get to the slave cylinder as well. The secret to bleeding the back brakes is to get the rear of the car jacked up as high as possible off the floor and bleed the N/S/R wheel first. You should end up with a decent pedal then. Cheers.
Same as when I changed the clutches on my Dolomite and P4 Rover. Taking the gearbox out through the big hole under the dash, so much more civilised than trying to wrestle it out lying under the car.
Volvo Penta are Marine Engines. Nice one getting a sponsor, Ben. Time to jump on that car vertical bandwagon, I reckon. Although being HPI clear is the least of your worries on your regular purchases 😅

My Dad bought himself a brand new Vitesse 2 litre in 1967. It was dark red and I was only 4 years old. I have vague recollections of it, but still have photos, and your video is bringing back some great memories. What a cracking sound it makes. Keep up the great work Ben.
It's so good to see one of these in one piece, as they did rust something terrible, a friend of mine had a soft top one of these in the 80's, it was so much fun taking trips to the coast in it. oh by the way I have purchased one of your mugs.
So!!!!! Some goofball on here last week told me I should get out more, clearly drinking cider, eating a kebab, and watching Tasty Classics in peace and quiet didn’t sit with them. However, it turns out Tasty Classics is the perfect way to soothe a hungover head. A really great video Ben. Thank you very much once again.
Love these Vitesse’s even back in the day they were quite rare and unique looking with that lovely straight six sound I did have a Triumph 2000 early eighties and loved it’s build quality and drivability especially with overdrive but the sporty Vitesse was and still is a beautiful little sports yes I’d call it a coupe.

He had the rear tyre attached to the boot lid in a black vinyl cover remember it well. Keep up the good work, amazing channel
Best video for ages. God I always wanted a Vitesse. I'm 70 now but loved my first car, a 12.50 herald bought for £25 after I had passed my test. No syncromesh between first and second, that took a bit of getting used to. Head gasket failed after 2 weeks. Dad showed me how to do it. Lasted until it soon rotted. A few years later I bought a 13/60. Full syncromesh and much better. It did need an engine rebuild due to crank shaft thrust washers coming adrift. God how I wanted Vitesse...
Then you Ben for this fantastic video. I had A Triumph Herald convertible 40 years ago. I have enjoyed ever minute of this I can’t wait for the next part
I always wanted a Vitesse, got a droop nose Triumph Herald convertable in the late 70s for £50 One year and 12000 miles later had to scrap her as nothing to weld to for the MOT. Love your videos Ben 👍
my old man did full rebuilds on a few of these in our back garden he had the vitesse six, the standard vitesse, a couple of hearlds and a hearld estate over the years, great cars, excellent to work on too. great episode
Ben. I had a herald when I was 14 at my dad's garage. The centre over gearbox inside comes off for easy access, makes life easier mate 👍. Great video as usual 👍
Only ever had one occasion to travel in a Triumph Vitesse soft top in the two colour green, that would have been back in the early 80's It had been rebuilt by a fiends dad who was an engineer for Bolton Fire brigade services. But that one trip was a blast and has remained with me for 40 plus years

Another friends dad had a rover P6 in mustard yellow 3500 V8 that was a beautiful car.
Superb video Ben, I’ve had to watch it in parts as family kept needing my attention 😆. You’ve done a fantastic job so far. It’s gonna be a minter 👌🏻❤️
my old man did full rebuilds on a few of these in our back garden he had the vitesse six, the standard vitesse, a couple of hearlds and a hearld estate over the years, great cars, excellent to work on too. great episode
Ben. I had a herald when I was 14 at my dad's garage. The centre over gearbox inside comes off for easy access, makes life easier mate 👍. Great video as usual 👍
I haven't watched the video yet, but I'm confident it'll be taking a tour of your yard!!
Another Tasty Friday!! Cap has been despatched too.. What a weekend!!
And a sneaky NEV.. Could there be a crossover coming?
Whenever I hear the name Stromberg I always think of James Bond. That villain must've made his fortune on carbs
Great to see NEV, as previously said in the comments you should definitely do a Collaboration episode. Great content again!
Only ever had one occasion to travel in a Triumph Vitesse soft top in the two colour green, that would have been back in the early 80's It had been rebuilt by a fiends dad who was an engineer for Bolton Fire brigade services. But that one trip was a blast and has remained with me for 40 plus years
Brilliant video Ben, and the best and possibly funniest Cameo I’ve ever had the privilege to guffaw over - Nino “up North’ 😂
Looking forward to Part 2
Keep ‘em comin’
JCHK
I've been watching your channel for a couple of months and love it, especially the Capri. I had two capri 2.0s back in the day and loved them. That triumph is a beautiful car. If you can restore it you'd be saving an amazing piece of history. Love the channel
Looks like the Herald my mum had when I was a kid, beautiful man.
Hi Ben, great video as always, are you sure it’s “ECONOMICALLY VIABLE” that brake pedal man looks familiar! 👍 can’t wait for next episode, keep up the good work sir! 👍
A big pat on the back for that one Ben.. great 👍 as always.. just found your podcast with wing.. absolutely brilliant..
Fantastic work Ben there’s just something about the sound of a straight 6
What can I say a great blog Ben back of the net and a car worth saving 😊
